In October of 2013, I changed my name from Gtwfan52 to John from Idegon. Although the Gtwfan52 name had served me well for nearly two years, I feel that as long as I am going to continue doing this, I should have a proper name for people to address me by. I've been answering to John for a long while IRL, so why not here too? By the way, "Gtwfan" referenced one of my two all time favorite railroads, the Grand Trunk Western. The other is the South Shore.
From June 10, 2016 to June 14, 2016, someone impersonated me using the name John from Idegon Backup. I am indebted to Administrator zzuuzz for noticing and blocking the sock, related to a long term kerfuffle at some high school article. Although the child tried to embarrass me, our crack administration team caught it and ended it before much damage was done.
Early on the morning of February 3, 2020, I got a thank you for my 100,000th edit. Three weeks short of my 8th anniversary here.[1]
...can one be paid to edit Wikipedia? Well, under certain conditions at this time, yes you can. But think about this: Can one be paid to sing? The answer is of course yes. But the applicable question really is, "Can one market their singing?" That is much more difficult to accomplish, requiring native talent, much hard work, years of practice and a considerable amount of lucky breaks. However, unfortunately for one enquiring, a more on point analogy might be, "Can one be paid to have sex?" Again, the answer is yes. But then there are those pesky moral and legal issues to deal with, aren't there? These two analogies illustrate what one embarking on a path of editing Wikipedia for pay is really looking at.

Thanks for the backup on the Madonna article. The reasoning that a person has to be a university generated alumni list seems specious, if that person attended. Mere attendance would seem to clear the bar, non-inclusion on a list should not be below some bar.

In any/all events, thanks again. Bluedudemi (talk) 16:02, 4 September 2018 (UTC)
The Apennine Colossus is a stone statue, approximately 11 metres (36 feet) tall, in the estate of Villa Demidoff (originally Villa di Pratolino) in Vaglia in Tuscany, Italy. A personification of the Apennine Mountains, the colossal figure was created by Giambologna, a Flemish-born Italian sculptor, in the late 1580s. The statue has the appearance of an elderly man crouched at the shore of a lake, squeezing the head of a sea monster through whose open mouth water originally emanated into the pond in front of the statue. The colossus is depicted naked, with stalactites in the thick beard and long hair to show the metamorphosis of man and mountain, blending his body with the surrounding nature. It is made of stone and plaster and the interior houses a series of chambers and caves on three levels. Initially, the back of the statue was protected by a structure resembling a cave, which was demolished around 1690 by the sculptor Giovanni Battista Foggini, who built a statue of a dragon to adorn the back of the colossus. The Italian sculptor Rinaldo Barbetti renovated the statue in 1876.Sculpture credit: Giambologna; photographed by Rhododendrites
