User:Guy Macon/Proposals
This page is under construction. It is a starting page for certain proposals that I, Guy Macon, am proposing.
If all goes well, you can call these "The Macon Proposals". If it goes poorly, you can call them "The Macon Memorial Proposals". And of course some may prefer the term "Macon's Folly".
These are all proposals that require a decision by the WikiMedia Foundation (WMF), the non-profit organization that owns the Servers Wikipedia runs on.
Some of these originated with me, and some have been around for a long time - in some cases over a decade - and other editors have spearheaded the effort without success. Details on the individual pages.
Each proposal has an associated talk page where anyone is free to discuss the particular proposals.
The List:
- User:Guy Macon/How to get a response from the Wikimedia Foundation: This is a general information page about how the English Wikipedia and the WMF interact, and about what I hope to accomplish with these proposals.
- User:Guy Macon/Discrimination against the visually impaired: Wikipedia has a CAPCHA system that discriminated against blind editors. This was reported in February of 2006, and has not been fixed. This appears to be a direct violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and leaves Wikipedia open to discrimination lawsuits.
- User:Guy Macon/Wikimedia referrer policy: A recent RfC resulted in an overwhelming consensus to stop sending certain information about Wikipedia users to external websites. This is where I am putting together a request to the WMF to implement that consensus.
