Sporting Wood Football Club are a Canadian amateur football club based in Markham, Ontario. Sporting Wood FC play in various competitions which fall under the umbrella of the Ontario Soccer Association, and are the most successful club in the history of the Thornhill Adult Outdoor Soccer league, having won more honours than any other club in the Greater York Region Area. They have won a record 2 League titles, and 4 League Cups in their 5 years since the inauguration of the TAOS league.

Originally founded under the Markham Lightning moniker, Sporting Wood FC was formed out of a political battle between the soccer clubs of both Markham and Unionville, Ontario. Under the leadership of trailblazers Arnold Fung and Csaba Reider, the Markham Lightning cultivated their skills and nurtured their passion across competitions all over Ontario and parts of the United States. Soon, they were passed into the hands of Eric Hooey where they entered (and quickly dominated) the Thornhill Adult Outdoor Soccer (TAOS) league under the now infamous handle of Sporting Wood FC.

Sporting Wood FC have a large and diverse fan base, ranging from girlfriends, to friends, to parents, to friends of parents, to the parents of girlfriends. Over the years, their inconsistent success has led to a string of rivalries with several other clubs; the most notable of these is with cross-town neighbours F.C. Unionville, with whom they regularly contest the Town of Markham derby, and regularly defeat.

As of 2007, their club motto of Arrogance. Mediocrity. Failure. became an official part of the club crest.
