User:Judge Dred Scott

I live in St. Louis, Missouri where Dred Scott lived when he unsuccessfully sued for his freedom in Dred Scott v. Sandford, and I'm kin, but I'm not that him, he died 130 years before I was born on September 17, 1988. I am not User:Dredscott, but we share some background. I intend to edit and create articles of interest to Dred Scott, and supporters of he and his legacy. The Supreme Court's "ridiculous" ruling handed down on March 6, 1857 was intended to stave off the onset of the American Civil War, and I believe that Court can be forgiven for making a decision which arguably it had no real choice but to make, but I'm not so forgiving of Americans who continue to regard or treat African-Americans and other minorities as "second-class citizens". A lot of that is done with more subtle methods than most people realize, but me and other contributors to online publications are doing the best we can to explain and remind... Lincoln wasn't only referring to Civil War military confrontation when he said at Gettysburg: "It is for us the living, rather, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced. ...that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion..."
