Hot Wheels: AcceleRacers - Ignition

Hot Wheels AcceleRacers: Ignition is the first movie in the 2005 AcceleRacers movie series. The films were produced by Mainframe Entertainment, and they are a direct sequel to Hot Wheels World Race. They are available on DVD and VHS. They also aired on Cartoon Network.

Plot

Two years after the events of World Race, Dr. Tezla continued to study the information he gathered on the Wheel of Power. To his dismay, however, he finds that Gelorum and the Racing Drones have returned to Hot Wheels City to take the Wheel of Power. Tezla then takes it upon himself to go to Hot Wheels City and take the Wheel before the drones can. His efforts are for nothing, however, as he is shot down by a drone and crashes hard. A drone discovers he is alive in his car and attempts to kill him, but he uses his Emergency Driver Return feature on his car to get back to the real world, where his robot companion, Gig, finds him injured.

Meanwhile, on the coast of California, we see Vert Wheeler, Kurt Wylde, Taro Kitano, and Mark Wylde arriving to a race, each donning new clothing from their new teams: The Teku and The Metal Maniacs. The team leaders, Nolo Passaro and Tork Maddox, then get ready to race. After the race starts, Markie, angry at the fact he was told not to race, decides to anyways. This results in both Nolo and Tork crashing their cars. Whilst driving to the finish line, Markie encounters Gig, which startles him and causes him to go offroad. Both teams go after them and make sure they're okay, before talking to Gig. Gig tells the teams that Dr. Tezla needs their help. They, however, are still bitter after Tezla refused to give them more Nitrox 2 so they could go on Highway 35 again. Eventually though, they agree and meet up with Dune Ratz leader Brian Kadeem.
