Vera Ciriviri - Trena[edit]
Vera Ciri Viri - Trena (Prilep 1920 - 1944) was a Macedonian partisan and communist during world war 2. She served in NOB and ASNOM during the occupation of Macedonia by Bulgaria in 1944.[1]
Biography[edit]
At the age of 15, due to an illness, she went to Belgrade for treatment, and it was there that her political career began. At that time, the sewing shop of Kosta Ciriviri, her father, in Belgrade was a well-known haunt of revolutionaries, artists, poets and students from Macedonia, among whom the most regular visitors were: Mirce Acev, Straso Pindzur, Borka Taleski, Kuzman Josifoski-Pitu, Kocho Racin and others, who had a great influence on her political beliefs.
She felt the injustice of the regime in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia early on. She joined the progressive labor movement before the war in Belgrade, where she lived with her family for a while. She was active in the women's movement and often traveled from Belgrade to Prilep carrying illegal material for Skopje, Veles and Prilep.At that time, although very young, Vera participated in the student protests. During the period when she lived in Belgrade, Vera and her mother often traveled to Prilep and back. On those trips, in fact, they brought materials, leaflets and everything needed to form local committees from Belgrade.[2]
In 1940, she became a member of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia, and the same year on Ilinden, she was one of the organizers of the manifestation, which was organized by young Macedonian patriots on the occasion of the national holiday.
World War 2[edit]
As a member of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia, after the occupation of Yugoslavia, she became a member of the KPJ Local Committee for Prilep. She was one of the organizers of the armed uprising in Prilep, then in Skopje, Bitola, Tikveš, Kumanovo and Štip.[3][4]
Until 1944, she became a member of the Third Regional Committee of the Communist Party of Macedonia and worked on strengthening party organizations in Struga, Kočani, Veles, Štip and Valandovo, massing the NOP and organizing SKOJ, AFŽ and NOO, as well as sending delegates to the First Session of ASNOM.
Death[edit]
he Bulgarian police put a price of 20,000 lev on her head. After one burglary, she was surrounded by Bulgarian agents. She committed suicide so that she would not fall into their hands alive. The Burars took Trena's body outside the city and buried it near Bregalnica after the liberation, the remains of this girl were transferred to her native Prilep.[5][6][7]
