Dr. Mustapha Adib-Abdul-Wahed is the Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Lebanese Republic to the Federal Republic of Germany since the 18th of July of 2013[1]. Since the 1st of April of 2017, he is also the Dean of the Arab diplomatic corps in Germany.

With a PhD in Law and Political Science from Montpellier University 1, Dr. Mustapha ADIB started his career as a teacher of Public International Law, Constitutional Law, Geopolitics, and International Relations at various Universities in Lebanon and France.

In 2000, he also started teaching at Beirut War College and, since 2010, has become Full Professor at the Lebanese University.


Dr. Adib has engaged in extensive academic research and expert work in the areas of both Human and State Security, Parliamentary oversight of the Security Sector, Decentralization and Local Democracy, and Electoral laws.


Having become the President of the Center for Middle-Eastern Strategic Studies (CESMO) in 2004, he has worked, among others, with the Geneva Center for the Civilian Control of Armed Forces, and UNDP, as well as with many universities, and is the author of various books and reports on the above-mentioned topics, including the “Middle-East and Western Asia” chapter of the “World Report on the State of Decentralization and Local Democracy”, led by the UCGL and Paris I – La Sorbonne University.


He has been also the founder and President of the Lebanese Association for International Law (ALDI) and the former president of the Lebanese Political Science Association, as well as a member of the Association of French University Graduates, of the Arab Political Science Association, of the International Constitutional Law Association, and of the Observatory for Permanent Civil Peace.


From 2000 to 2004, he became an advisor to H.E. Najib Mikati, then Minister of Public Works and Transportation.  In 2005, he was appointed the advisor for development to Prime Minister Mikati and represented H.E. Prime Minister Najib Mikati before the Special Committee in charge of devising the new electoral law. In 2011, Prime Minister Najib Mikati appointed him as his Chief of Cabinet.


In 2015, he was granted the distinction of officer of the Stella d’Italia.


He was born in El-Mina, Tripoli, Lebanon on August 30, 1972 and he is married to Flavia d’Amato and has five children.
