Yvette Basting, born on June 8, 1977, is from Breda, Netherlands. Italian, Japanese, Chinese, and Mexican entrees are her favorite types of food, aside from pancakes. Besides playing tennis, Yvette enjoys reading, playing golf, listening to music, fashion, and sports. Yvette began playing tennis at the age of 4. Her father, Joost Basting, was her coach and biggest motivation. Yvette has one sister and two nephews Yvette became a pro tennis player in August of 1993 after her high school graduation. Weighing 135 pounds at the time and  listed at 5’9”. Although Basting travels the world for tennis matches and tournaments, her place of residence will always be in Oosterhout, Netherlands. Basting has the goals of reaching the Top 50 players in tennis, becoming successful in the Dutch Fed Cup, and she wants to play in the highest German league, known as Bundesliga.[1]

Yvette Basting’s very first professional tennis match was against a girl from the Netherlands. She lost her first match ever to a sixteen year old girl. [2]. In 1993 , Yvette won back-to-back ITF Circuit events at ITF , during her fourth and fifth tournaments on the pro tour she placed first in the singles and doubles at ITF/Horb. In 1994 , she won numerous ITF titles. In 1995, she made her first appearance on the WTA Tour, and she qualified for the Australian Open, and during her first match she won on the WTA Tour. In 2000, Yvette became a qualifier at Wimbledon, her first WTA Tour main draw appearance in five years and second career Grand Slam, where she also won a match. 2001 is the year she played in the Australian Open for the first time in six years and she also played at Wimbledon, that marked the first time in history to play in two Grand Slam main draws in one year. Basting was considered the sixth-seed in a tournament but Basting out did everyone in the finals of the USTA Prudential Securities $50,000 Women's Challenger tennis event at The Club at Sterling Oaks. Yvette placed a ranking no one expected, which was first place. [4] Yvette also had a tennis match against Karen Cross, the two played several matches and Yvette lost during the second round. [5] She also played against other well- known tennis players such as Serena and Venus Williams.
