I am a married, middle-aged cis white man in the US Northeast. I am college educated through a PhD level; the PhD was in a branch of theoretical soft matter physics applied to molecular biology. I've recently begun contributing to Wikipedia as a sort of crossword-like daily hobby, mostly focused on copyediting nontechnical history and geography, miscellaneous backlog articles, or technical chemistry and mathematics. As a user of Wikipedia, I'm most interested in political history, the history of economics, and the history of ethics.

I first edited Wikipedia in the mid-2000s but developed an allergy to the edit wars and ideological drama, and I effectively ceased any contributions to the public commons of the Internet in the early 2010s, a period that was defined for me by Aaron Swartz's suicide and Mark Fisher's "Exiting the Vampire Castle."

I've finally added this small bio after 300 edits; I'll see about putting other things here as the new hobby settles into shape!
