From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

work in progress!

If you are at all busy with education or employment, and you have any article-namespace (TODO: or article talk?) pages watchlisted for what you intend to be an indefinite time (as opposed to relying on your contributions and notifications as "poor man's watchlists"), then Wikipediholism might be a concern.

(Yes, I know this is a rather radical idea.)

Opposing view

[edit]

Admittedly, the above is all a convoluted way for me to say "I don't believe in watchlists, regardless of namespace." This is a bad(?) habit I developed on smaller wikis where recent changes patrolling is sufficient to notice all important changes, unlike on WMF projects. I've never quite internalized how big of a deal {{visibility}} or {{Talk page of redirect}} is, for example.

This means that I am dependent on Notifications to know about reversions of my edits or other important events. (That means that when reverting my edits, you should press "Undo" and avoid overwriting the default edit summary. However, do not address me with {{reply to}} in a discussion started by me.)

Even though I am aware of my "small-wiki syndrome," I have difficulty deciding which pages are important enough to watchlist, so I err in favor of ... none.

Anyway, I think there's still a valid point to be made here...
