On the last show of his Palace Tour, New London announced that he completed two songs from his upcoming album. In May 2028 London posted pictures of his newly-finished recording studio in his villa in Tuscany, Italy. Kelsey White and Mike Potter also shared pictures of the studio, confirming that they were also working on the album. In her column in the NME november issue of 2028, White announced that she and London had been working on the album over the summer and that she was very excited about it, stating that "the album is unlike anything we've written before and I can't wait for the rest of the world to hear it.

Loving. received widespread critical acclaim from music critics. At Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album has an average score of 90, based on 24 reviews, indicating "universal acclaim".

Barbara Fissler of AllMusic rated the album four and a half star and praised the production, saying "the album is at it's best when it refuses to commit to one single genre." She called it an album "filled with risks that ultimately pays off." Writing for The Daily Telegraph and rating the album four out of five stars, Anne Sheffield praised the album for being "both cohesive and immensely diverse, delivering new surprises with every song." Entertainment Weekly's John O'Connell lauded the album's production and states that "London refuses to give in to the current hype and creates a project that is meant to be listened from start to finished and adored through and throughout.

Ruby Fletcher of NME named Dancing To The Beat Of A Broken Heart her favorite song of the album called London, Mike Junior III and Kelsey White "the holy trinity". Ellis Jones and Brock Fitzgerald of The Guardian and The Independent, respectively, both agreed that this was London's best work to date and praised it's lyrical content.

A Disastrous Amount Of Trust[edit]

A Disastrous Amount Of Trust is the third studio album by Dutch singer New London. It was released on May 3, 2024 through Top Notch Records and Number 17 Entertainment. It is a loose concept album about the beginning and ending of a relationship. As executive producer, Jasper Klomp worked with previous collaborators Stacey Mac, Julia Jenkins and with Aston Davies, with whom he had never worked before. Upon release the album received critical acclaim, especially for its lyrical integrity.

Background[edit]

In early 2023, rumors surfaced that London and his then girlfriend had broken up. London confirmed this news in late March, at a show in Minneapolis. He also announced that he had started writing for a new album, and that he was aiming for a release date in early 2024. A month later, he revealed in an interview with British Vogue, that his new record would be about his breakup and his search for his identity after the breakup.

Recording[edit]

Recording began in June 2023, and London collaborated with Ashton Davies for most of the album. Both also served as executive producers, together with London's manager. He also worked with his long-time co-writer Kelsey White again, and reunited with Stacey Mac, who has also produced some of his songs in the past.
