Governor of Tanganyika new article content ...

Prior to Tanganyika achieving independence in December 9th, 1961, this British Mandate territory was ruled by a Governor as a colonial administrator appointed by British Crown.

The Governor of Tanganyika among his or her duties, was to administer colonial policies in the territories through an Indirect Rule with local Chiefs or Warrant Chiefs.
