In 2014 Howe auctioned off the property that contained its summer camp, order to focus resources on continuing winter school operations. ^[1] The decision to auction off the property was made a year after a child was found drowned at the camp.^[2] In 2009, the director of summer camp and lower school principle, Andrew Majewski, was arrested and later convicted ongoing sexual relations with a 14 year old male pupil. ^[3]

Howe Military has been struggling to maintain operations. In 2014 a board of trustee’s vote to close the school was forestalled by a 2 million dollar alumni donation. ^[4]
