@Scottywong: that is not me. Why would I create an account with my username?לילך5 (talk) 20:44, 19 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Scottywong:, that must be CraigP459 impersonating me. Why would I create an account with the same name and use the same edit summary?20:46, 19 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

It is not me. It is CraigP459, or someone else maybe, impersonating me with the same username and using the exact same edit summary I used last night. Furthermore, while this impersonation was done I was doing other things. The impersonator did six edits on 19 July at 19:28,19:28,19:30,19:34,19:35,19:36. While this was happening, I was doing edits as well: 19:30,19:32,19:36,19:37. How is this possible? Please check your technical logs, and see if לילר5 is CraigP459. Whoever made the לילר5 account was trying to frame me, why would I do something like that?? It's illogical. Please check technical logs and punish the real culprit behind לילר5, it is not me. לילך5 (talk) 20:53, 19 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Accept reason:

You have been exonerated by CU evidence. Thanks for being understanding during this mistaken block. Enjoy the "battle scar"—I've heard all the coolest editors have them. ;) -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she|they|xe) 23:25, 19 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@ScottishFinnishRadish: I see why you jumped at this, but whoever was doing this was trying to frame me. Copying my edit summary from last night. Can you check the technical logs? I am sure it is CraigP459 or one of his friends. There would be no reason for me to do something so stupid, it's like marching into Fort Knox holding up a billboard saying "I am a gold thief".לילך5 (talk) 20:56, 19 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Verbcatcher: sorry I can't reply on the talk page, I got blocked after a user impersonated me with a username one letter off and used the same edit summaries as me after I reverted them after they were blocked. According to the book, Viscount Cilcennin sent a few resignation letters during 1956, before it was accepted. He finally left on September 1st, and immediately accompanied HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh on a world tour. Verbcatcher can you check the technical logs on this site to see that לילר5 is CraigP459?לילך5 (talk) 21:10, 19 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Verbcatcher:, Cilcennin also wrote The Duke of Edinburgh's World Tour 1956-1957 Paperback – 1 Jan. 1957 about the tour, it might have something on his resignation.לילך5 (talk) 21:12, 19 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I am not an admin and I don't have access to any restricted logs. I hope that your unblock request is assessed properly. I doubt that Cilcennin's book on the royal tour would cover his resignation. Regards, Verbcatcher (talk) 21:30, 19 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Tamzin: I see you are the expert at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Awolf58. Can you please look into לילר5?? They impersonated me. They created a username that's different by one letter from mine and then used the exact same edit summary I used when reverting some of CraigP459's edits last night.לילך5 (talk) 22:03, 19 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Tamzin, thank you for looking into Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/לילך5 and Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Awolf58. My user name is my private name, לילך, and I added a 5 because the name without a number was taken and 5 means something to me. לילך is a very popular name in Hebrew and also a flower, lilac in English. לילר, which the impersonator used, is not a word in Hebrew, though Liler in English is written as לילר in Hebrew.לילך5 (talk) 22:43, 19 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Tamzin: Sure, if CU shows no link between the accounts, I'm ok with unblocking this one. Thanks for reopening the SPI. —ScottyWong— 22:45, 19 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I want to say thank you everybody, Scottywong, RoySmith, Blablubbs, and most of all Tamzin for quickly sorting out this impersonation job!לילך5 (talk) 03:27, 20 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Tamzin: December 2012 must have been a tumultuous time... —ScottyWong— 14:21, 20 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Deepest apologies

[edit]

Sorry about the misunderstanding, I knew the whole thing seemed squirrelly, and I apologize for jumping the gun. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 23:26, 19 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@ScottishFinnishRadish: I totally understand. The way לילר5 was setup it was just screaming it was a puppet and the sign it was holding up was totally pointing at me.לילך5 (talk) 03:30, 20 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for understand, and my apologies for blocking you in error. Unfortunately, in the never-ending war against people who seemingly derive pleasure from disrupting Wikipedia, there are occasionally some innocent casualties. Thankfully, the block only affected your account for a relatively short time. —ScottyWong— 14:19, 20 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The use of לילר5 was devious, for someone reading Hebrew ר and ך are totally different, but looking at it as a glyph I can see how they really look almost the same. Thank you so much for helping resolving this quickly. לילך5 (talk) 19:31, 20 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It was a violation of Wikipedia policy, see WP:Signature forgery. Verbcatcher (talk) 19:36, 20 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
In Hebrew school as a kid, the similarity between ו ,ך ,ד ,ר and ז always annoyed the heck out of me. Glad I learned the difference in time to help out here. :) -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she|they|xe) 21:42, 20 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Your signature

[edit]

Hi, I am pleased to see that the blocking incident has been resolved, exonerating you. It would help the linguistically-challenged among us if you presented your signature in Latin characters, see Wikipedia:Signatures#Non-Latin usernames and Wikipedia:Signatures#Customizing how everyone sees your signature. This would not change your actual user name, and it would not affect Hebrew Wikipedia. This is only a suggestion, you are under no obligation to do this. Regards, Verbcatcher (talk) 16:28, 20 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Verbcatcher, is this OK?---Lilach5 (לילך5) discuss 19:38, 20 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It looks fine, thank you. Verbcatcher (talk) 22:42, 20 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Citing non-English sources

[edit]

I see some of the articles you've created use a lot of sources in Hebrew. For example Yonatan Roshfeld. That's fine, please see WP:LANGCITE for some suggestions. -- RoySmith (talk) 12:49, 21 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It also helps if you wikilink the source publications, where there is an English Wikipedia article. I see that you have sometimes done this. This helps non-Hebrew readers to access the reliability of the sources. I don't read Hebrew, but I would assess Haaretz as more reliable than Mako (website). Verbcatcher (talk) 19:28, 21 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I do link usually, though Mako doesn't have a dedicated page. Mako is an important source, it the written website of Israel's main TV channel which is channel 12. Some, but not all, of the content there is from News 12 including the magazine segments on the news. It is a bit like the website of NBC. The written text also very often has the aired segment as well. I'm still struggling a bit with the citation conventions, here and on the Hebrew Wikipedia.---Lilach5 (לילך5) discuss 06:34, 23 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Debate regarding Greg Rucka's son - please submit your opinions

[edit]

Debate from the Greg Rucka wiki article

[edit]

I propose leaving out the arrest of his son. It had nothing to do with Greg Rucka, and it was just an arrest.לילך5 (talk) 20:27, 18 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. Greg Rucka's son is a none notable person and WP:BLPCRIME states: Accusations, investigations and arrests do not amount to a conviction. For individuals who are not public figures; that is, individuals not covered by § Public figures, editors must seriously consider not including material—in any article—that suggests the person has committed, or is accused of having committed, a crime, unless a conviction has been secured. WP:NOTPUBLICFIGURE also states that In such cases, exercise restraint and include only material relevant to the person's notability, focusing on high-quality secondary sources. The sources that User:FrankensteinsDad keeps finding are typically labeled generally unreliable/deprecated by WP:RSP (WP:NYPOST, WP:THESUN, & WP:DAILYMAIL) or have little to no information about their editorial staff or policies (newzandar.com, reportdoor.com, etc). Given there's no high quality coverage of a conviction, I don't think it should be included here or at Jen Van Meter. Sariel Xilo (talk) 21:02, 18 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Even without that alphabet soup of policy, it just isn't relevant. If his son had a page of his own I'd agree all that policy would apply there, but on this page adding incidents involving his family that do not involve him other than some blood or relationship ties isn't irrelevant.לילך5 (talk) 21:26, 18 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
As you requested, I omitted all three of those reference sources, but I still have submitted at least eight others that are surely valid. The section on Rucka's personal life mentions him having a wife and 2 kids,so I didn't bring his family into this. If he wants his family mentioned, he should'nt mind having some facts emerge pertaining to his son's criminal activity. Also, his son travelled all the way from the west Coast to NYC to commit his vandalism, which makes this particular crime very intriguing and unusual to say the least. Who travels 3000 miles to break store windows and destroy innocent people's property? Maybe the types of comic book stories his father produces has encouraged this criminal behavior in his son, who knows? Nevertheless it certainly pertains to the article by giving insight into what kind of children this man has raised. And the story is 100% accurate, there's no doubt of that, since the references I've supplied actually shows the son's mug shot!! No room for doubt. FrankensteinsDad (talk) 22:40, 18 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The statement I added only says his son was arrested by the NYPD for rioting, nothing more or less. It's just a fact, and I have added many additional reference sources as you requested. Please review the following references and see if you don't agree that the story of Greg Rucka's son getting arrested is 100% accurate and true. These references tell the story: [1][2][3][4][5][6][7]

FrankensteinsDad (talk) 22:41, 18 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I strongly suspect this Sariel Xiro person is in some way personally associated with Greg Rucka and is deleting any information that he (or she) doesn't like on his page, regardless of whether it's true or not. There is some kind of strong personal relationship going on here, otherwise why is she harassing me and reporting me for contributing a simple statement of fact that I've backed up with NUMEROUS reference sources?? In fact, why wasn't that story added to Rucka's page two years ago when it happened?? It's obvious she is a personal friend or acquaintance of his, or maybe just an overzealous fan. I'm asking wikipedia to investigate the connection between this Sariel person and Greg Rucka. The whole things smacks on censorship. Also, why are the NY Post, the Sun, and all of these other newspapers considered "unreliable", but the Washington Post and NY Times are fine?? Isn't that a little bit backwards there? Do I detect a prejudice against conservative news sources in general?? Every ONE of them is unreliable??? Something funny going on here. FrankensteinsDad (talk) 22:58, 18 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It has everything to do with Rucka. It shows what kind of child he has raised, which says a lot about him as a father. Also his son travelled 3000 miles to commit his crimes that day, which makes it a very unusual and intriguing story in general. A very unique crime! FrankensteinsDad (talk) 23:03, 18 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
His child is a different person from him. Stop putting it back in the article, everyone disagrees with you FrankensteinsDad.לילך5 (talk) 03:43, 19 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I just noticed this person whose editing name is לילך5 is not a real wikipedia account. It is a fake name she made up to harass me. Check it out, it's a fake wiki-name!!! Unbelievable....so now Sariel Xilo's using fake editing names to make it look like other editors are supporting her?? FrankensteinsDad (talk) 18:35, 20 July 2022 (UTC) FrankensteinsDad (talk) 17:35, 23 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in the Arab–Israeli conflict. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

To opt out of receiving messages like this one, place {{Ds/aware}} on your user talk page and specify in the template the topic areas that you would like to opt out of alerts about. For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

In particular, please note that 30 days tenure and 500 edits are required before you can edit article content and internal project discussions such as RfCs and noticeboard discussions related to the Arab-Israeli conflict. This does not apply to informal discussion on article talk pages.

Recent edits at Operation Breaking Dawn have been reverted, please make no further edits until qualified to do so. Thank you. Selfstudier (talk) 07:08, 6 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, לילך5, unlike the rest of the project where WP:NOTBURO is a cherished value, WP:ARBPOL is extremely bureaucratic. Due to an objection, I've revoked the perm. Sorry for getting your hopes up. The silver lining is that you're only 80 or so edits away from getting the user right automatically, anyway. So not too far off. Again, sorry. El_C 10:42, 6 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, I guess this really is contentious. Thank you El_C for your courteous response to the request.---Lilach5 (לילך5) discuss 07:34, 7 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Unicode issues

[edit]

I had no intention of doing what you mention, but the stupid December 2019 encryption protocol upgrade almost succeeded in completely disconnecting me from Wikipedia. I then found a workound method of accessing Wikipedia indirectly, which is unfortunately not fully Unicode-compliant. To fix this, I would need to buy a new computer -- and eventually I did buy a whole new computer, but that only helps me for a few hours a week when I'm using public WiFi. To be able to edit Wikipedia in a fully Unicode-compliant manner from home would mean that I would have to get a completely different type of Internet connection, which would permanently disconnect my old computer, which I still use quite frequently (I'm using it right now). I could add further long and boring explanations, but that's the essence of it... AnonMoos (talk) 20:32, 9 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

You mean the Transport Layer Security changes? That knocked off older systems from lots of sites, I agree it is stupid. Not sure how you are accessing now, but it is interesting that whatever you are using is doing some odd phonetic mapping of my Hebrew username, it isn't just a nonsense mapping. ---Lilach5 (לילך5) discuss 20:36, 9 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

As far as I know, it was restricting the allowed methods in the HTTPS protocol.
The "J+" Asciification (which is applied automatically, regardless of my will) is due to RFC 1345, so you should complain about it to "K. Simonsen" (whoever he is or was). AnonMoos (talk) 20:42, 9 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Why, it is of course Keld Simonsen, with his Danish UNIX User Group hat on at the time. ---Lilach5 (לילך5) discuss 20:49, 9 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@User:לילך5 You are not an administrator and do not have the authority to block people. Placing that warning/threat on my page was inappropriate and I regard it as intimidation. Furthermore, I believe it is inappropriate to remove large chunks of the article without any input or discussion, and other editors have expressed similar concerns.
