Creating WikiProjects[edit]

I saw that you created Wikipedia:WikiProject Xinjiang, which currently has only one editor. I don't know if you've seen the WikiProject creation guideline, but it has an important instruction:

However, to stop the proliferation of unused and underutilized WikiProjects, you must first propose the new project at the proposal page.

No problem, it's a procedural thing and not the end of the world! I would create a proposal, yes. The easiest thing is probably to either:

Tag the WikiProject page (and its subpages) with WP:G7 deletion tag (using {{Db-g7}}),
Move the WikiProject page (and its subpages) into your userspace as a draft (e.g. User:47JCL/WikiProject Xinjiang) if you want to preserve the contents for the future.

In both cases, letting the proposal run its course before restoring the page at Wikipedia:WikiProject Xinjiang. If you need help with either, feel free to let me know and I can help. — MarkH₂₁^talk 03:02, 1 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Oh sorry, I just noticed that there is a restructuring at Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals so there are no new proposals. You can wait for that restructuring to be complete.

Alternatively, you could try the task force suggestion, presumably at Wikipedia:WikiProject China (which notably has Wikipedia:WikiProject China/Chinese provinces workgroup). There is also Wikipedia:WikiProject Central Asia, but it is not fully active anymore.
You could also try alternative ways of garnering interest from about 10 active, experienced editors, such as posting in WikiProject talk pages.

I would still delete or user-draft Wikipedia:WikiProject Xinjiang in the meantime. — MarkH₂₁^talk 03:07, 1 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
