A tag has been placed on Flag of Taymyr, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the article and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Flag of Kamchatka Krai

[edit]

Hi there, comrade Imperialist! :) I must admit that I did not much like the source you cited for the fact that Kamchatka Krai currently is using the flag of Kamchatka Oblast, so I did some research of my own. No offense, I hope.

Anyway, one thing that is 100% certain is that when a federal subject of Russia adopts a symbol (a flag, a coat of arms, or an anthem), there is always a legislative act describing it. If a symbol being adopted replaces the old symbol, the old legislative act expires as well. The whole procedure is always documented.

As of today, there have not been a law prescribing to use Kamchatka Oblast's old flag as the flag of Kamchatka Krai. What's more, both old flag laws (Kamchatka Oblast's and Koryakia's) are still in effect. What this means is that Kamchatka Krai as a whole does not officially have a flag (or a coat of arms), but the old flags can still be used on the territories of federal subjects that existed before the merger. Which is to say that if one sees a flag of Kamchatka Oblast somewhere in Koryakia, one can bet it is not flown officially.

I'll keep that particular area of Kamchatka Krai's law in sight and will let you know when a new flag is adopted (or when the old flag is officially adopted as the flag of the whole krai). Meanwhile, I would suggest moving the Flag of Kamchatka article to Flag of Kamchatka Oblast and tweaking the text accordingly. If the krai eventually adopts a new flag, we'll create an article at Flag of Kamchatka Krai; if the old flag is adopted for the krai, we'll move Flag of Kamchatka Oblast to Flag of Kamchatka Krai and make necessary modifications to the text.

Please let me know if you need anything clarified, and thanks for bothering to create the article in the first place :) Cheers,—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 19:16, 13 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I doubt I am going to be of much help as far as creating content about the flags goes (although I can certainly help you out with determining their status, which is especially important for the post-merger federal subjects). I do, however, want to make an observation about the way the articles you have created are titled—you seem to be using short names of the federal subjects, but you are not always doing it correctly. For example, "Flag of Koryak" should in fact be "Flag of Koryakia" (if you use the short name) or, better yet, "Flag of Koryak Autonomous Okrug" (full name, which pairs nicely with the title of the main article—Koryak Autonomous Okrug). Same goes for "Flag of Kamchatka"—Kamchatka is first and foremost a geographical entity (a peninsula), which does not have its own flag. "Flag of Kamchatka Krai" would be the correct name for the article about the flag of Kamchatka Krai, and "Flag of Kamchatka Oblast"—for the article about Kamchatka Oblast. You can find the full names (and short names, if any) in the articles about those federal subjects, and the list of the federal subjects is, of course, available through federal subjects of Russia. It may not be that big of a deal while you are writing articles about the republics, but you'll have to agree that there is huge difference between, say, "Flag of Belgorod" and "Flag of Belgorod Oblast"!
Anyway, if you need help with moving the articles, don't hesitate to let me know—I'd be happy to help. Cheers,—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 19:48, 13 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I will make sure that this is done. It may take some time, however, but I will make it my number one priority. Thanks for your help fellow comrade! American Imperialist (talk) 19:58, 13 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed moves

[edit]

"Autonomous okrugs" are entities which, despite being in administrative jurisdiction of a krai or an oblast, are nevertheless constituent members of the Russian Federation (i.e., they send their representatives to the Federation Council). They are included with the rest of the federal subjects and have equal rights on the federal level.

Since 2005, some of the autonomous okrugs were merged with other federal subjects, and lost their federal subject status. Some of those autonomous okrugs were given special administrative status, and their names now omit the word "autonomous" (e.g., "Komi-Permyak Autonomous Okrug" became "Komi-Permyak Okrug" of Perm Krai). As far as the flags and coats of arms are concerned, the okrugs retain them without changes, so, technically, either title ("Flag of Komi-Permyak Autonomous Okrug" or "Flag of Komi-Permyak Okrug") is correct, although, of course, the latter is more up-to-date. If you do the moves, that would be OK, but if you leave the article as-is, that would not be much of a problem either (after all, the articles would still discuss the flags of these entities, even though the entities themselves ceased to exist in that form).

Hope this helps.—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 19:48, 14 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you really are an American Imperialist....

[edit]

Hi!
If u're really an American Imperialist why don't you use this flag that i made especially for the (albeit fictional) Imperial States of America and the userbox that i made just for it:

This User Believes that the USA is indeed a Global Empire.

The Origins of my imperial flag

[edit]

Well if u've heared about Noam Chomsky or the New American Century, or just basically read the article about the possibility that such an empire might exist, u'd see that in all forms of address to the issue they all talk about some mega-country that runs the world (some call it "in an oppresive way", and others call in "a benevolent way"), much like how the roman empire managed the known world at it's time. Well this gave me the idea if such empire where to exist it will need a new flag (since the old one isn't very compatible with the idea of an empire) and it made me start thinking what that flag would be, and after much thought (and many drafts) i came finally to the one u know already and publicized it on wikipedia (and other places in the internet as well) and that's about it.
P.S. I'm also trying to create a Coat of Arms for the empire, but this is far from being finished and i'm still working on it, but if u'd like i'll be happy to mail u the draft that i'm currently working on. --Oren neu dag (talk) 15:38, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
BTW - Image:Imperial States of America.svg is under {{Attribution}}, not fair-use. --Oren neu dag (talk) 15:42, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds like quite a project. For the sake of curiosity, do you plan to place this image on an article related to the topic, or is it just meant for the userbox template? American Imperialist (talk) 17:27, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Actually thats a stupid question. You previously said that it was fictional. Regard me as image-retarded on wikipedia. American Imperialist (talk) 17:59, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello

[edit]

Hello there, just a flying visit really. I note your a Christian but support the death penalty...I was wondering how you reconcile these two things? This is not intended as an attack or any such thing but general interest. Gavin Scott (talk) 20:09, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

An interesting point, but did Christ not say "You have heard that it was said "an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth" But I say to you, do not resist an evil person; but whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also." Also, when the woman was to be stoned did he not say "let he who is without sin, cast the first stone."? Clearly Christ was against the Death Penalty- don't you think? Gavin Scott (talk) 01:16, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Possibly, many interpret it that way. Yet it merely brings the Mosaic law into conflict with the New Testament. Keep in mind that the woman's accusers were trying to lure Christ into a trap to see whether or not he upheld the Mosaic law over Roman law, both of which came into conflict with each other in regards to the course of punishment. However, He outsmarted them by deciding to merely avoid such an arguement.
I do not mean to blatantly drop the conversation, but discussion pages should be used to collaborate on issues regarding wikipedia itself, rather than the views of the users. It is inevitable for users to have different views, especially considering the kind of patriot of the U.S. that I am. Nevertheless, it was nice to talk to you anyway, especially now that we know more about each other. American Imperialist (talk) 01:54, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Kamchatka Krai

[edit]

No, the new image is simply a slightly modified version of the old one (hopefully more accurate, although I am no expert on vexillology), but it is definitely not the new flag. The new flag is not available yet, and, as a matter of fact, the Government of Kamchatka Krai announced a CoA/Flag/Anthem contest only a couple weeks ago (on August 8). Contest entries are accepted from August 25 through December 15, and the preliminary selection process will take place from November 29 to December 14. The final selections will be made between December 22 and January 22, and the winner will be announced on January 23, 2009. Until then, any folks attempting to upload a "new" flag should be shot on sight :) In Хинт's defense, the name of the new image is not completely misleading, as Kamchatka Krai continues to officially use the flags of both Kamchatka Oblast and Koryak Autonomous Okrug until the new flag is adopted. Same goes for the coats of arms. Best,—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 14:23, 29 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
