Great work in finding the missing stats on the 50 in 50 article. Masterhatch 03:53, 4 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

NHL Entry Drafts

[edit]

I must say that you are doing some excellent work with the NHL drafts. I had thought about doing the drafts a long time ago, but i decided to do the seasons instead. Masterhatch 05:51, 15 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Cree font

[edit]

Thanks for the clarification on the font in the Saskatoon article. I think what happened is I switched browsers from Internet Explorer to Firefox over the weekend and Firefox displays unknown fonts differently. The question marks looked like vandalism. There should be a tag or something on these articles indicating what font is needed and where to get it, etc. Thanks again! 23skidoo 18:33, 5 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"Correct" English

[edit]

If you think it's "correct" English to write Jesse Niinimäki and Joni Pitkänen with the accents removed, why did you not move Jérémy Châtelain to Jeremy Chatelain when you edited it? Does "correct" English only apply to Finns, or does it only apply to ice hockey players? Where can I see a Wikipedia Manual Of Style that says to "Englishise" some foreign names, but not others? JIP | Talk 05:47, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I feel there's a distinct difference in having diacritics in the titles and the body. I'm not so concerned with the titles, but I feel the anglicisation of names should apply to all article text for the purposes of utility - If I'm using my browser's search function (i.e. ctrl-f) to find instances of a name in an article (something rather likely to happen on an article such as a draft listing), diacritics get in my way because they're cumbersome to type on an English keyboard. And I think it's a good idea to not get in the way of English-typing people finding things on an English encyclopedia. And yes, whether you like it or not, it is correct in English. Sure, it isn't in Finnish, but that's irrelevant on en-two.iwiki.icu.
Besides, I don't have time to go around anglicising every article I come across - I only made the edit to the Chatelain article because I happened to notice it in an unquestionably wrong place in a category listing.
