License tagging for Image:58163.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:58163.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. --OrphanBot 15:05, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot 21:09, 9 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited George Clooney filmography, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Dusk Till Dawn (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Your edits

[edit]

There is an issue with the edits you are making to various filmography tables. You are making major revisions without discussing on related talk pages and/or seeking consensus. You are adding needless and unnecessary mark-up all over the place, such as using the asterisk (*), that is normally used in unordered, bulleted lists. You lay-out revision to "Television" tables leaves them all but unreadable. You taking simply filmography pages and adding content that has multiple issues, including; duplication, BLP info, using present tense that will require regular maintenance, questionable writing, etc., etc. Please do not make any more major revisions without first seeking consensus and ensuring they conform to wiki-policy. As you have already done this to at least 9 articles, and seem intent on continuing to do this to more, you should seek advice and consensus for these mass changes at some of the following project pages; Wikipedia Manual of Style - Filmographies, Wikipedia Biographies of Living Persons and perhaps the Wikipedia Help Desk - thewolfchild 18:51, 27 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

(this comment moved from my talk page)
Are you serious? I spent quite some time making those tables with a lot of references and you just blatantly destroyed them. Wow... The tables are not unreadable at all, I simple used them from a different filmography, mainly Jessica Lange's. If you want to make them more 'readable' please change them like the one stated before and not just delete all of my references like that.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Aquascape (talkcontribs)

Look, I'm not trying to give you a hard time. I'm thinking that based on some of your actions, perhaps you are new or just somewhat unfamiliar with how to contribute to Wikipedia (WP). I don't claim to be an expert myself, but there are some things that I do know.

  • I commented on your talk page, so please respond here. This is a very common on WP, so as to not spread discussions across multiple pages, creating confusion and making them hard to follow. You note I posted a request for specifically for this on my talk page (a request you will find on many, many talk pages)
  • When you posted your comments, you did not sign them. (I signed it for you). Signing is easy, all you have to do is add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your post. It lets people know who posted what and when. (I see there has been a notice advising you of this, right here on your talk page, for the last 6 years).
  • None of your work has been deleted, the page has simply been changed to an earlier version. The edits you made are still saved in the pages history.
  • You Boldly edited the George Clooney filmography. I have Reverted you. If you disagree, we Discuss the issue on that article's talk page. This is per WP's BRD policy (Bold, Revert, Discuss). What you do not do is revert the edit(s) again. This can lead to edit warring, which is prohibited by WP policy. I have already posted a comment on the George Clooney talk page regarding this. So, if you would like to discuss anything further about that article, we should take the discussion there. This also gives other user an opportunity to discuss your edits, and state whether they find them acceptable or not (or if they need to be modified). Once enough users comment on the issue, there is a good chance you will have consensus to help guide you.

Anything regarding actions and edits on specific articles you wish to discuss, should be discussed on the specific talk page of that article. As for this discussion here, any responses you have in general (and not about a specific article) should be posted here. Not on my talk page or any article talk pages.

Please note that you and I obviously have interest in the same subjects. I happen to agree with some of the improvements you wish to make, and to I am even willing to help you, so please don't take this as a challenge to start a some sort of fight. I'm sure we can work together on these articles. - thewolfchild 22:57, 27 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I note that you have reverted the Brad Pitt filmography while I was commenting here, and again did not comment on the talk page. (I started a discussion on those edits there as well). Again, this is against policy. Please stop with these reverts and radical changes and start discussing. Thanks. - thewolfchild 23:02, 27 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hi again, along with the policies I have noted for you above, I have found another you should have a look at; Wikipedia:Filmography#Filmography_tables. I think you will find this helpful as well. In the meantime, I looking forward to a response from you. I think it would be good to get a dialogue going. - thewolfchild 23:51, 27 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'm in a rush right now and will have to go overseas for a bit so I won't have time to change anything. Have you even looked at Jessica Lange filmography or even Arnold Schwarzenegger filmography? I don't see tables like the ones you've said to look at and above all, Arnie has been featured! The tables don't matter, but the content does, it's not hard to try and add more columns to a sortable table to include what I did. As I said, I'm leaving for a while and I can't possibly edit until I come back, will you please leave them as they are and I'll do my best to edit them when I return? Thanks. Aquascape (talk) 08:59, 28 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Again, don't think I'm totally against you here. I like the idea of expanding and adding to filmography tables and articles. But when these changes are large in scale, you have to go about it the right way. The filmography tables aren't really a big deal, other than the bulleted entries for the character/role, and there also some missing borders. I'm also not sure if linking every year to that year in film is necessary. I see you are separating info, and creating additional tables, (which I totally agree with and have done so myself - tv, theatre, director, producer, etc.) The television tables have to much info and they are difficult to read. These tables are used as a quick reference guide, and therefore are supposed to have a rather simple layout. The table can link to individual tv shows, and from there one can search out more detailed info like air dates, ep numbers & titles, etc., etc. You're just cramming too much in, which also makes it more difficult to maintain the table. Yet another issue is consistency... I'm sure you have noticed that virtually all tables are very similar.
Now, aside from the tables, is the lengthy lead and multiple sections you are creating. Not necessarily a bad idea, but there are several problems with almost all of the pages. We'll get into more of that later. Anyway, you mentioned going away, I don't think these pages will just sit idle waiting for you. Like all of WP, change is constant. But don't worry about your edits, if there's a change, your contributions are not lost. - thewolfchild 13:40, 28 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Additional note: I had a look at the two BLP filmogs you mentioned... Yes, Jessica Lange's appears to be where you got the inspiration(?) for the changes you made to almost a dozen major articles. I have msg'd the user that first altered that table... still waiting to hear back. As for Arnie... his filmog looks fine (not sure why you brought that one up) Anyways, talk to you soon. - thewolfchild 16:45, 28 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Invite to the African Destubathon

[edit]

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:13, 6 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
