Episode screenshots[edit]

Hi AutoviaOw; I'm afraid I've reverted a number of your recent edits adding non-free screenshots to articles about TV episodes. While there is a longstanding consensus about (say) book covers in infoboxes in articles about books, we don't have a similar presumption in favour of screenshots in episode articles. (This is mentioned, for example, in the documentation at Template:Infobox television episode.) I appreciate that these removals may seem a little heavy-handed, but it's important to keep up standards and stop unnecessary non-free content 'creeping in' to articles. For general information about the use of non-free content on Wikipedia, see WP:NFC. Josh Milburn (talk) 22:58, 8 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Does that apply to promotional posters too, or just screenshots? AutoviaOw (talk) 20:32, 9 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
A promotional poster that has been released specifically to promote a particular episode is a better candidate for an infobox image for an article specifically about that episode; equally, film, play, or tour posters are often used in infoboxes. But I wouldn't advise starting any kind of mass uploading, especially to add images to already well-developed articles. Generally, we should always be favouring less non-free content, rather than more. Josh Milburn (talk) 22:17, 9 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
