Pornography is rarely if ever fair use

[edit]

Would you care to explain under what legal interpretation of fair use you believe these images you are uploading qualify? Someone took those photos, they presumably expect to profit from selling them, and it is very unlikely we can use these. You seem to just be being disruptive to prove a point. Dragons flight 04:37, August 25, 2005 (UTC)

I see you have decided to come back. You seem to have taken it upon yourself to illustrate the pornstar articles with porn (not my choice, but whatever), but because of the questionable nature of the content, you can expect any claims of fair use to be subjected to considerable scrutiny. One thing we expect in making these claims is that you identify not just the copyright holder but the original document, video, or other material that they are taken from. The level of detail should be such that someone could, god forbid, go out and find the original sources. A magazine title and date/volume would be appropriate, as would the precise name of any video tape or broadcast. Dragons flight 01:18, August 26, 2005 (UTC)

Hi there. I have just reviewed your image Image:Tiffany Fallon.jpg and have found that it contains a watermark on the bottom left-hand corner, which betrays that the image is from a photo shoot rather than that of a screencapture generated from a film or video. I have listed it at possible copyright violations for review. Should you wish to contest this, please do so at WP:CP. Thank you. -- Joe Beaudoin Jr. Think out loud 22:20, 7 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Since you have yet to reply, I have decided to add the "no source" tag. Since the image is clearly from a photoshoot and not a screencap, the info on the image description page is misleading -- thus the information needs to be fixed. -- Joe Beaudoin Jr. Think out loud 22:33, 24 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Tiffany Fallon.jpg listed for deletion

[edit]
An image or media file that you uploaded, Image:Tiffany Fallon.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please look there to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you.

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Rush R30 2004.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. feydey 01:31, 14 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

3RR Warning

[edit]

Please refrain from undoing other people's edits repeatedly. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia under the three-revert rule, which states that nobody may revert an article to a previous version more than three times in 24 hours. (Note: this also means editing the page to reinsert an old edit. If the effect of your actions is to revert back, it qualifies as a revert.) Thank you.

This warning is going out to both of the users who have made the majority of the reverts to Celtic Park over the 5-star rating of the stadium. Please sort it out on the talk page before making any more edits --GraemeL (talk) 23:58, 27 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:CC-115 Buffalo.jpg

[edit]
Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:CC-115 Buffalo.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Image:HMCS Terra Nova.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:HMCS Terra Nova.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. LX (talk, contribs) 20:13, 31 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Afarewelltokings-tour.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Afarewelltokings-tour.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 04:44, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Rush group Hemispheres.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Rush group Hemispheres.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is either no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use, or else the rationale given is not valid. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShadowHalo 06:35, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Template:Aircraft of Canadian Air Force, by BillCJ (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Template:Aircraft of Canadian Air Force fits the criteria for speedy deletion for the following reason:

Duplicates Template:Canadian Forces Air Command; not used in any articles

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Template:Aircraft of Canadian Air Force, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 07:55, 21 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Infobox Drummer has been nominated for deletion. You are invited to comment on the discussion at the template's entry on the Templates for Deletion page. Thank you. --PEJL 13:33, 11 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have reverted your deletion of a photo on this page, assuming it was vandalism, since no edit summary was given and no note made of your reasons for doing so on the talk page. This article has not run out of space for photos, so I can't see a reason to have relevant images to the article removed. If you have a reason to remove images from this page let's please discuss it on the article's talk page. Perhaps putting some into a gallery or similar might be a better solution. - Ahunt (talk) 12:16, 29 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Moving pages

[edit]

When you move a page you should check for Wkipedia:Double redirects. When you moved Stephenville Airport‎ it became a redirect to Stephenville International Airport‎ but CYJT and YJT were still redirecting to Stephenville Airport‎. This means that anyone typing in the ICAO/IATA code would not be sent to the correct article. Thanks. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 13:35, 30 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Power Windows Tour, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://members.fortunecity.com/pepedraw/tour%20power.htm. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot 09:58, 4 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Ricky_Trailer_Park_Boys.jpg

[edit]

I have tagged Image:Ricky_Trailer_Park_Boys.jpg as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. Thank you. Non-free use disputed for Image:Rush_Group_1978.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Rush_Group_1978.jpg. Unfortunately, I think that you have not provided a proper rationale for using this image under "fair use". Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page. Note that the image description page must include the exact name or a link to each article the image is used in and a separate rationale for each one. (If a link is used, automated processes may improperly add the related tag to the image. Please change the fair use template to refer to the exact name, if you see this warning.)

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted after seven days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast (talk) 19:45, 1 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. File permission problem with File:Canadian Force Liaison Council badge.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Canadian Force Liaison Council badge.gif. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 06:29, 9 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
