Nielsen market rankings[edit]

Unfortunately, I had to revert your additions to several articles about television stations as they inserted Nielsen Media Research's designated market area rankings. Although they may be used heavily in the industry, the rankings are nonetheless proprietary, which in general is in conflict with our licenses (CC-BY-SA 3.0 and the GFDL). In addition, in September 2008 Nielsen filed an OTRS ticket with the Wikimedia Foundation (which operates Wikipedia) that affirms that we indeed are not allowed to use the rankings. While our non-use of the rankings may at first seem like an omission that needs to be rectified, that's not so — we don't use the rankings because we can't use the rankings. Thank you for your understanding. --WCQuidditch 02:01, 23 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
