Video short[edit]

Hi, Mike. If you feel that you can create an article on video shorts that would meet the guidelines for articles here, then please feel free to do so - I'd suggest doing it at User:CadyMike/sandbox (just click there, edit the page, and be sure to remember to save) so you can work on it before it goes "live," as it were (and ensure that other editors aren't editing it while you work on it, for the most part). What you'll need to do is gather reliable sources that act as citations for the various statements made in the article. Original research is not acceptable in Wikipedia articles - we rely on secondary sources when possible. If you have magazines, books, newspapers, etc. that discuss the video short as its own separate concept, those would be what you want to include. If you'd like to give it a shot, please go for it; if you have questions, I'd be happy to try and help out. Thanks VERY much re adding "video short" to Wikipedia. I'm working on something now so it's going to take awhile for the Wiki addition. I'll also be contacting video producers I know, also people connected with several websites for additional input. Back after awhile.

Hello Tony Fox

Don't know if you rcvd an email I sent yesterday - thought I sent it but maybe actually didn't. Being dumb on this, I haven't been sure how to get going with the definition for "video short" yet. I've found several good and responsible websites re video shorts, all of which use that term. I am about to email them to see if they'll be interested in working on the definition - I think they will be. I've now printed out several of your web pages - this will help me on this.

Question: it's possible for whoever is interested in this to write & edit directly on your website, yes? They'll have to log in for it, yes? I'm not quite sure how to communicate back and forth on this - how and where everyone involved must go to work on the definition.

Hey there. If you're a registered editor, you can create the article yourself, and once it's created, anyone - registered or not - can work on it. As I suggested above, your best bet is to start work in a sandbox page in your own space here; you and other editors can communicate using that sandbox page's associated talk page, or on this page here. Hi Tony. I'm working on something else re video shorts and don't have sufficient time (or ability) to really complete the "video short" article myself. I'd like to do a Stub and then contact six or eight video shorts websites to help get going on this; they're serious and responsible sites re commerce and/or education. I assume this'll be okay, yes? It is astounding to me that no one has yet defined "video short" in Wiki ... uh, "video clips" are for the most part jes' minimally "responsible" videos. Yeah? Hello Tony, again. I am slowly getting going on text for "Video short." But, again, I definitely want to get other production companies and educational institutions going on it too - there are about a dozen I want to email re this. Sorry I'm so "Wikipedialess." Just want to be sure that when they get going on "Video short" the text will continue to be both available and editable by the contributors. How does what they write stay in the sandbox and remain accessible to others who are contributing? How do they log in? Do they need a password (mine)? After they edit, of course they have to click on "Save page" at the bottom for text to remain for continuous editing, yes? - I assume this could go on for at least a couple of weeks. Sorry about this. Truth is that I'm knocked out by the huge amount of instructions Wikipedia has. Sorry that I'm so dumb on this, but I think there's definitely value re "Video short." If you don't want me to do this lemme know. If okay, I'll email the others I want to get going on this and urge them to create a good definition for Video short. VS is a serious category; truth is, a high percentage of Video clips are minimally serious productions. Sure hope this is making sense and hope to hear from you soon. Hi again, Mike. Any edits made by anyone in the sandbox space that you'd be working in will be made and saved constantly; nobody needs your password - never give that out! - and they don't need to register to help you edit on that page. I've just created a page at User:CadyMike/Video short for you to work on. Basically, you can go onto that page and write whatever you want, hit 'Save page' and your work will remain there. Someone else can then go to that page and work on it, hit 'save page' and their work will be there for the next person to work with - and so on. You can have as many people as you want collaborating on that page. Note that if two or more people are editing at the same time, you'll start getting edit conflicts, so you might want to ensure that people are working on it at different times. It won't be deleted or removed automatically; at this point, it would only be deleted if you tagged it with a 'by author' request or through a deletion discussion, so no worries there. Hello Tony Hope you see this ... Mr. Dumby isn't quite sure how to get going (I'm 72, had a neuro seizure a few years ago and take a mess-up med, still need to know for sure how to get other people going on this). #1: do I and others editing for "Video short" type User:CadyMike/Video short into "Search" at upper right of page, then click on "edit" at top of page, and then begin writing? And when they're done writing all they have to do is click on "Save page" down at the bottom? Once I know about this, I'll enter what I've written and will email a dozen websites for their "editing." Hey there. All anyone who wants to edit your article needs to do is click on the blue link in the header of this section of your talk page - right above your question - and then click 'edit' and go for it. Then, as you say, hit 'save page' when they want to save their work, and away it goes. Sorry I missed your last query - work's got me busy lately. Tony Sorry, still ain’t got it. When potential editors first get into Wikipedia, do they type in en-two.iwiki.icu — when they get on the I’net? After they type that in, do they then type “User:CadyMike/Video short” in the little Search box at upper right? Then, where do they go? You wrote to me: “click on the blue link in the header of this section of your talk page – right above your question – and then click ‘edit’ and go for it.” Do you mean click on “Edit” at top of page? (where it says Read Edit View history) Guess what: I’ve typed in the first paragraph at top of page — on the left in big letters it says “User:CadyMike/Video short” Sure hope I’ve finally got thangs going right now!
