NPrice and rollback

This is just to let you know that I've granted NPrice's rollback request. If you feel this is a bad move, then feel free to revert it. I figured you should know as you are more aware of his history than I. Best, Malinaccier (talk) 23:38, 4 December 2011 (UTC)

No, that's wonderful. He deserves rollback: he's a good egg. The Cavalry (Message me) 00:41, 5 December 2011 (UTC)

Bell Pottinger

Hiya. What should we do about other accounts which are suspected of being involved? In a couple of minutes looking I came across User:PropertyMike which is quacking very loudly. Polequant (talk) 14:52, 8 December 2011 (UTC)

Aye, we looked at him - he isn't directly involved - I think he just shares an interest with Bell Pottinger, ie he's the estate agent selling a house in their housing development, for example. As it's tangentially related, I think it's best to add the articles to the list at Talk:Bell Pottinger Group/Affected articles, and deal with the account as we would any other non-BellPottinger COI editor - perhaps a strict warning and a link to WP:BFAQ? The Cavalry (Message me) 15:07, 8 December 2011 (UTC)

Hi, I came across User:PetersBah, who aroused my suspicions. His edits are exclusively to articles related to Bahrain (one of Bell Pottinger's clients is the Bahraini government[1]), and many of them involve synthesis, original research, claims contradicted by their citations, etc., that seem designed to advance a pro-government position. The particular thing that got me suspicious was that he edited the article for John Yates on Dec 1, the day before the Telegrpah reported (in what they claimed was a Dec 2 exclusive) that the government of Bahrain would hire Yates to oversee reform of Bahrain's police. Anyway, if you haven't checked already, might be worth a quick look. Billmarczak (talk) 15:33, 8 December 2011 (UTC)

Technically Red X Unrelated to anything Bell Pottinger, although could be a PR account - although it's not clear to whom it might belong.. The Cavalry (Message me) 15:56, 8 December 2011 (UTC)

Frequent Vandalization of Seyed Mohammad Marandi

Hi. I wanted to ask you for help. An article I created around a year ago, Seyed Mohammad Marandi, is recently being vandalized frequently, and the vandalizer posts accusing remarks about me in his edits. I have been trying to get along with it and revert what he does after he is done with it, but he keeps coming back. I really have no idea what to do about it. Could you please help me? Thank you very much.

Hi. I just noticed the above, and I'm just letting you know I have blocked both editors who have been engaged in a protracted edit war on that article, for 24 hours each, after they ignored warnings to stop. -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 22:47, 8 December 2011 (UTC)

User:Lucy-Marie and her little brother

Can you check he has no other socks please? Kittybrewster 11:20, 9 December 2011 (UTC)

I can't see any more, and the range that they operate on is blocked. Did you have anyone in mind? The Cavalry (Message me) 11:46, 9 December 2011 (UTC)
No But I am not as good as some at detecting these things. Kittybrewster 11:54, 9 December 2011 (UTC)
Well, as far as I can tell, there are no other socks. Lucy-marie is usually pretty blatant about these things, so I'm confident we've got them all! The Cavalry (Message me) 12:05, 9 December 2011 (UTC)

Excellent!

Wooh, congrats dude :-) -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 18:21, 11 December 2011 (UTC)

Indeed. Does this mean that you are no longer open to being chased? - Sitush (talk) 18:39, 11 December 2011 (UTC)
I am open to being chased over the internet, certainly, although not as much in real life. In a completely unrelated question, when does the hereditary adminship RfC start? The Cavalry (Message me) 19:20, 11 December 2011 (UTC)
If that means what it sounds like, bloody hell, well done! Sleepless nights are ahead in nine months though, so get onto the BT thing double speed Egg Centric 21:02, 12 December 2011 (UTC)
Congratulations!~ Matthewrbowker Say hi! 15:20, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

  • You're not expecting the patter of tiny editors are you? --Elen of the Roads (talk) 22:44, 12 December 2011 (UTC)
Good lord no! The Cavalry (Message me) 09:12, 13 December 2011 (UTC)

Congrats on your new job!

Now you won't have to live in that bedsit in the BBC thingy a while back

Anyhow, since you're a staff member and all that , am contacting you to ask if you could keep an eye on this and perhaps get in touch with BT about it? Egg Centric 21:00, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

Resolved with the help of the local UK chapter. Hurrah! The Cavalry (Message me) 16:51, 13 December 2011 (UTC)

Office Hours

Hey Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry/New Archives/2011/December; another Article Feedback Tool office hours session! This is going to be immediately after we start trialing the software publicly, so it's a pretty important one. If any of you want to attend, it will be held in #wikimedia-office on Friday 16th December at 19:00 UTC. As always, if you can't attend, drop me a line and I'm happy to link you to the logs when we're done. Thanks, Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 22:30, 13 December 2011 (UTC)

As promised, office hours logs! Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 22:29, 19 December 2011 (UTC)

I noticed you tagged this for NPOV back in 2010. Could you please check and see if you agree with my edits there? Thanks, --John (talk) 02:26, 19 December 2011 (UTC)

Hi Chase me, in light of your earlier edit at the article, I'd welcome a second pair of eyes on this edit by myself. I've added a couple of refs, restored the cocaine allegation, sourced and attributed, in view of Norman's Independent article claiming it had been sanitised from the biography (which seems to be quite mistaken; as far as I can see, it had been in there, with a fact tag, since 2007), and added a response by Bell himself from the London Evening Standard. Cheers, --JN466 01:16, 21 December 2011 (UTC)

Looks good! Amazing what happens when the community works well, isn't it? The Cavalry (Message me) 12:57, 28 December 2011 (UTC)

Alkermes (company)

Hello, I made a number of revisions to my Alkermes (company) article, both to address the "close paraphrasing" tag you added and also to add more information and references. I tried to make the text different from any text I referenced but please bear in mind that some phrases can really only be said one way. Can you please review the article when you have a chance and let me know if the tag can be removed? Thank you very much!Michael Leeman (talk) 14:28, 29 December 2011 (UTC)
