Welcome

[edit]

Hello Cimsam, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions on Sureth and other varieties of Neo-Aramaic. I have some reservations about the accuracy and importance of Poizat's book and the neutrality of some of the other sources used. I have outlined my views at Talk:Syriac language#Poizat reference and Talk:Sureth#Disputed. Please let me know your thoughts on these issues. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and vote pages using three tildes, like this: ~~~. Four tildes (~~~~) produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! — Gareth Hughes (talk) 21:04, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"Sureth"

[edit]

I don't know who you are, but you are putting "Sureth" in places where it does not belong. 1) It is not an East Semitic language. The fact that you placed it there shows that you don't have a good grasp of Semitic linguistics. 2) You have called multiple languages "Sureth" which indicates that you don't know the nature of the language articles that you are trying to edit. 3) I'm not convinced that you even know exactly what "Sureth" is, or know how it fits within the framework of the Aramaic languages. My impression is that you think that Classical Syriac used ecclesiatically should be on every Neo-Aramaic page. This is not the case. If I have misstated your level of knowledge, then please correct me. (Taivo (talk) 13:11, 22 April 2009 (UTC))[reply]
