Neutrality

[edit]

If you can bring up as many specific problems with this article as possible, I'll see if we can fix them. If this does become the COTM, hopefully we will have more people capable of fixing the problem.

I have considered adding the neutrality template myself, but I was frankly too lazy to dig through the article for examples of the problem. I also considered bringing it to peer review, but that is for articles which don't have so many obvious problems, so for now I'll take whatever input we can get on the talk page. --Lethargy 20:08, 2 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Leth. I am pleased to make your acquaintence. I think increasing NPOV for the article in question must begin with editing Wikipedia:Manual of Style (Latter Day Saints), e.g., LDS adherents rather than "Latter-day Saints", "members of the church", "LDS Church members", or "church members". However, I do not have much hope for this article since I suspect that LDS adherents will tend to dominate rather than inform the discussion because of their deeply situated viewpoint. I'd like to be wrong. CyberAnth 20:21, 2 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

??

[edit]

I'm confused. You're not an advocate, yet you have an advocate userbox and the alert on your talk page, and you've all the sudden you're the advocee for the case Wikipedia:AMA Requests for Assistance/Requests/October 2006/LIVINGDONE? Sock? Find a better reference. Edmonton Journal reveals nothing on canada.com. -Royalguard11(Talk·Desk) 04:31, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Relax, my error on the LIVINGDONE page. I failed to see it had been taken and then removed is immediately. I am on the member page. Please assume good faith. Also, what are you talking about with the Edmonton Journal, canada.com, and "find a better reference"? Peace. However, your accusation of me makes me wonder if I actually want to be part of the AMA. CyberAnth 04:41, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, major mix-up. I thought you were the person that was requesting advocacy. The members page is usually alphabetical, so I didn't look at the bottom. Let me give you a proper welcome then from the AMA (as you seem to be missing one). If you need any help, feel free to ask myself or any of the other advocates for advice (however many of us are still active). The current cordinator of the AMA is Steve Caruso, so if you need any information on the AMA, just ask him. I see you've alredy got the AMA alerts template, and we also have our own irc channel that tells us when new cases pop up. I'm terribly sorry for the mix-up, and I hope that you'll stay with the AMA, as we are an ever-more requested organization. -Royalguard11(Talk·Desk) 01:44, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I appreciate and respect this a great deal. Peace, CyberAnth 01:50, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Christian view of contraception

[edit]

Just to let you know that I've added a couple of comments in the peer review for your article. They are:

  1. The article seems to rely on blockquotes a little too much. Could you summarize more of those quotes?
  2. There doesn't seem to be anything on the attitudes of the Orthodox church towards contraception. Orthodoxy is a very significant branch of Christianity, and the article will be incomplete without a discussion of Orthodox views.

Hope these are helpful. MLilburne 13:43, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks it is. :-) CyberAnth 05:49, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikicite promotion

[edit]

Hi CyberaAnth,
Recently you suggested I promote the Wikicite program more actively. You can help! I've set up a user page specifically about Wikicite. If someone other than me creates an article named Wikicite and copies the text:

#REDIRECT [[User:Dmoss/Wikicite]]

as its first (and only) line, Wikicite should then show up in a search. It will also allow a better base from which to promote the program. If I create the article I could be accused of vanity and have the article AfD'd right away.

BTW I just edited your user page to nowiki what looked like a talk page hijack. If I was wrong I apologise. --Dave 08:50, 14 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Calm down kthx

[edit]

I'd leave a warning but you're not in the mood to deal with it.

Just bring it to WP:DRV if it bugs you so much, but please be civil and put your complaints in the proper place on the talk page.... 24.89.197.136 23:26, 20 November 2006 (UTC) / Logical2u[reply]

PS: Apparently the guy you were yelling at moved the article to Userspace before he deleted it... User:Dmoss/Wikicite2 might be what you're lookng for. According to his logs:

  2. 19:20, 20 November 2006 (hist) (diff) m User talk:Dmoss/Wikicite2 (moved Talk:Wikicite to User talk:Dmoss/Wikicite2: Not notable enough for WikiSpace article; userfying. User has page at /Wikicite, so this one is /Wikicite2) (top)

So really, he didn't delete anything. 24.89.197.136 00:19, 21 November 2006 (UTC) User:Logical2u[reply]
Okay, I apologize and hereby eat a double-decker crow sandwich. I see now that in "Wikipedian", "delete" can actually mean "move". Pretty confusing. CyberAnth 00:27, 21 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Moving an article to my userspace and not telling me is like hiding it under a rock in Siberia. I'd never have found it, and neither would anyone else. BTW I've edited User:Dmoss/Wikicite to establish notability, you might like to take a look and try again. Oh yes, I have to congratulate you on the dummy spit. I haven't witnessed a committed Christian going off like that for years. It certainly got the attention of those involved ;-) --Dave 01:44, 21 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for giving me a huge smile, Dave. I think a lot of Christians are simply too inauthentic with some things. I think people much prefer people to "be real" and not play facades. You will enjoy reading this article from a former colleague of mine:

I don't appreciate your abusive comments. Calling me a dip shit[1] (among other charming comments) isn't exactly the best way to get your point across. In fact, it's probably among the worst. I can understand that you have a problem with my actions; that's fine. I can understand that you're annoyed that I moved (not deleted, moved) something you'd worked on all night. But you know what? There is a thinking, feeling person behind this username, just like there's a person behind yours. I don't appreciate your unprovoked assault on my person in the least. Have some respect for your fellow contributors in the future. PMC 19:24, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Unprovoked?? You're kidding, right? I return your words to you: Have some respect for your fellow contributors in the future. Obviously, I considered your abusive actions pretty pathetic. Moving the article to Dmoss's userpage and not telling anyone directly was abusive to the thinking and feeling part of probably several people. I am really quite sure my dummy spit did nothing to damage you but made the event emotional enough so that in the future you are clearly less inclined to be thoughtless and uncaring about the feelings of others. I just bet that in the future you will inform people very plainly BEFORE you move pages. Being syrupy or merely straightforward probably would not have accomplished that. It is not arguments but emotions that imprint best into memory. I know human nature and human nature with power all too well. Cheers, and best wishes for building more pleasing memories in your tenure as an admin. You'll thank me later. CyberAnth 20:18, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Funny. I was just about to add that to my post to you. I was first putting someting along those line at User:CyberAnth#What_would_I_say_to_other_Wikipedians.3F as you posted here.
Keep in mind, my point was specificaly to offend you to accomplish a specific purpose. Have a look here. Meta:Talk:Don't_be_a_dick#Intentionally_Offensive CyberAnth 01:13, 23 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
