harsh comments

[edit]

Sorry if some of my comments were a bit harsh. Welcome aboard. David D. (Talk) 17:36, 20 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No harm no foul. Some folks were saying "calm down" but I tried to indicate I wasn't really upset with all the lame jokes. I think it's about time for me to switch to decaf. Whoo!

Yeah, well...

[edit]

And let me just say that begging off an argument by hinting at personal misfortune is tacky. Not that I don't have sympathy for you, but it really has no bearing on the issue at hand.

[edit]

Hey, calm down, it was a mistake, ok? About my bad habit of not writing edit summaries what can I say? I may not write edit summaries sometimes, but all my edits are in good faith. So, I have a bad habit... so what? Deal with it. I'm not harming Wikipedia. Lesfer (talk) 18:10, 9 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey its Leonida, thank you very much for the heads up, i didn't mean to add "spam" or useless information on the site; i am TERRIBLY sorry about that, its just that i am new and i had NO way in contacting someone else! THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN!

Deleted article re-created

[edit]

Hi. I put Oakwood Park Grammar School, Maidstone up for speedy deletion, and manually searching the deletion log (is there a quicker way for a non-admin to find this info?) I see that you deleted it [1]. However, it looks like it was re-created by the same user (User:Matthewlary). Could you please let me know how to proceed with letting the user know why that's improper? Thanks much, dfg 15:33, 31 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've re-deleted it (you can tag recreated articles with {{db-repost}} in future) and warned the user. You can leave a friendly message like that to anyone else too in the same circumstances.. Stifle 21:40, 31 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I took a look at 82.198.250.7 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log) and see that this is an IP for a proxy server and that vandalism isn't happening right this moment. So, I will not block it right now. If vandalism persists, you should probably post it here. It will then be addressed quickly. -- JamesTeterenko 04:17, 1 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Reminder...

[edit]

When using template tags on talk pages, don't forget to substitute with text by adding subst: to the template tag. For example, use {{subst:test}} instead of {{test}}. This reduces server load and prevents accidental blanking of the template. — Ian Manka Talk to me‼ 22:45, 14 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of Tar (band)

[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Tar (band), by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Tar (band) seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Tar (band), please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Veiled threat in user talk page

[edit]

Ahem. Dial up the civility please. While I'm here, please don't remove deletion tags from articles that you created—WP:CSD graf 4—it's not for you or me to decide whether the article should or should not be deleted ... richi 00:31, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'm happy to concede that the article should not have been amongst the several bogus pages I submitted for SD this evening, soz. However, your tone leaves a bit to be desired. (And, again, please do not remove deletion tags.) ... richi 00:59, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I realize that there were Korean terrorists (i.e. airplane hijacking) but independence activists were definitely not terrorists. I see that you think so as well. Please assert your opinion further b/c "they" are very nationalistic JPOVs (not even all Japanese think that way anyways - this isn't even a Japanese viewpoint but something that ppl w/ some nationalistic extremism protesting in the streets burning Korean flags share. Edit summaries

[edit]

AFAIK it is encouraged that people write edit summaries, but AFAIK it is not a rule. If it is non-controversial I often do not include edit summaries.

If it does not have any narrative and only consists of interviews, then it could be called a book. WhisperToMe (talk) 00:11, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Advice

[edit]

Hi. I'd like your advice, either by direction to a policy/guidleine/etc page or from your personal experience, on how to deal with an editor. If an editor contributes, but knowingly leaves a mess behind for others to clean up, is that considered vandalism or a lesser form of miscreancy? Thanks for your time. dfg (talk) 18:02, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The best thing to do is to explain to them what the problem is, with examples. If it fails, then proceed to Wikipedia:Requests for comment and onwards. Stifle (talk) 21:14, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Vita and Rosamund Grosvenor

[edit]

Vita's 1st real friend was Rosamund Grosvenor, she was 4 years older then Vita. Among the other pupils at Miss Woolf's school had been Rosamund Grosvenor, who was invited in 1899 to cheer Vita up when her father was at the boer war. Later Rosamund shared an early governess of Vita's morning lessons.

Vita fell in love with Rosamund . Whom she called Roddie or Rose, on whon depended in her ordinary live at home. There secret relation ended when Vita get Married in 1913.

Lady Sackville invited Rosamund at ther Villa in Monte Carlo, and wrote in her dairy . and Vita wrote in hers " I love her so much " The sentimental Rosamund tooks Muriels's place after 3 weeks when Rosamund left , Vita wrote "Strange how litle i minded , she has no personality, thats why ." FYI

[edit]

Actually, I was considering to write his problem to the admin who informally meditates Sennen and me (After my filing on his wikistalking of me, we're not allowed to edit an article at the same time. One can only edit a same article 5 days after the one edits) His insertion of the citation is from the 10th reference at Comfort women. You will find that he distorts the info as if most of women volunteered to join it.

The first "comfort station" was established in the Japanese concession in Shanghai in 1932. Earlier comfort women were Japanese prostitutes who volunteered for such service. However, as Japan continued military expansion, the military found itself short of Japanese volunteers, and turned to the local population to coerce women into serving into these stations. Mitchell,

Besides, the abstract of Hicks's 1995 book, The Comfort Women. Japans Brutal Regime of Enforced Prostitution in the Second World War ISBN 0-393-31694-7,[2] is very different from Sennen's writing. Well, I edited Comfort women yesterday, and his edit on the same subject is not surprising. Thank you for keeping your stance as neutral as you can. --Caspian blue (talk) 19:47, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I know you're just going to delete this, Jasen, but deleting warnings is considered acknowledgement of them. I've warned you before about leaving me messages. FYI, I always keep my talk page blank, as do many other users. If you want to see the witty messages you left me in my talk history, feel free to persue it and stay as long as you want to.... That said, your opinion is neither welcome nor the least bid valid. From this point on, mind your own business, and save the "smart-alecy sincere with the demeaning undertone" reply I know you are thinking up, since I'll delete it before I read it, per usual. Have a really, really great life. Wjmummert (KA-BOOOOM!!!!) 20:44, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Again, telling me to mind my own business illustrates that you don't quite grasp that Wikipedia is a collaborative project; it's everybody's business. I was initially concerned with your consistent spelling and grammar mistakes, and writing style/tone problems, but I stopped because you don't seem to care and I'm not going to follow you around and clean up your messes. Maybe they can create a bot to do that. But when you went a step further and completely misinterpreted a source, twice, I felt I had to say something, and then you went with your race-baiting bullshit and personal attacks. That might be fine for call-ins to sportstalk-radio, but it doesn't belong here. You've been warned by an admin, so keep that in mind. I suggest you concentrate on contributing to the project in a constructive and encyclopedic manner. dfg (talk) 21:42, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
you can hereafter talk to yourself. everyone can see you are in the wrong. you have been warned by admin. i did not read your message, im sure i really missed out on some keys to life. darn, darn, darn. keep this here and OFF my page or i'll file another complaint. I"M DONE!!!! HE GONE!!!! KA-BOOOOOOOM!!!! Wjmummert (KA-BOOOOM!!!!) 00:13, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have *not* been warned by an admin; you copied that warning, intended for you, from your talk page and put it on mine, which probably made it easier for the admin to decide to block you. I hope you use your time-out productively. Weather's been nice out; too bad the Cubs're out of town. dfg (talk) 16:45, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You are entitled to your opinion, Garcia, as biased and irrelevant as it may be. Considering logos, have you bothered to read Wikipedia's policy on them, or are you just shooting off a lecture before you know what you are talking about. If you have a problem, there is due process for it. I suggest you follow it.... and learn to use paintbrush, you will be amazed at what you can create there.

By the way Garcia.... I did not copy paste any warnings to you, you WERE warned ("Wow, he is badgering you.... I will leave a message on his page right away.") Does *that* sound familiar? Wjmummert (KA-BOOOOM!!!!) 02:06, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Lies. Proof: [3]. Secondly, the editor who wrote what you misquoted was most certainly NOT an admin. You still don't understand how Wikiquette alerts work, do you? I didn't before this, but I took the time to read the page. dfg (talk) 05:58, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
LOL. If you slow down for 3 seconds, you will notice that I SOURCED SPORTSLOGOS.NET on the summary. I also said that I created one in paint as well.... now, you tell me, which is which. Your sleuthing skills need some work. Either way, logos are relevant here, check out EVERY SINGLE team page on this list - Major North American professional sports teams and you will see LOGOS there with the same explaination I gave. I know you do not like me, and I am not casting my vote for you for class prez either, but you are really streaching now.... and I'm done talking to you, just like the admin you ran to a few months ago is also done talking to you.... Wjmummert (KA-BOOOOM!!!!) 14:44, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You're giving me a headache. Nowhere in "Public Domain, I own this picture.... it is off my web page. I created it with paint since the one I found online was in Flash and I could not save it." does it say Sportslogos.net. The admin, not you, corrected it. Whether or not I like an editor doesn't make a difference as long as they contribute responsibly, and you just aren't, yet. dfg (talk) 16:53, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ministry Categories

[edit]

About those categories I added to the Ministry article you told me about, yes, I'm aware of sub-category additions mean you don't need a larger category. However, Ministry is an exception, as they aren't, or haven't always been, a pure industrial metal or heavy metal band, specifically before 1989. Because of that, some of those categories, such as "Industrial groups" or "Illinois musical groups" should be mentioned, in order to cover up their non-IM releases. Thanks. Thank you for uploading File:Kideternity.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being minor in the usual way.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. With the script in place, you can continue with this functionality indefinitely (its use is governed by WP:MINOR). If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 19:35, 15 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free rationale for File:Mordru.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Mordru.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page.
