First, a question: are you editing under any other accounts? It seems very odd to me that you have added info to Allen West (politician), not been involved in the discussion at all, and yet are making claims about consensus.

Second: You are incorrect that the information should stay in until there is consensus. There was never consensus to add the information in the first place. Per normal editing procedure, as soon as you added it and it was removed, it should have stayed out until consensus was achieved. You need to achieve consensus on the article talk page for adding that material, which, so far, you have not done. Qwyrxian (talk) 08:35, 7 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

hey bud. well, ya see. there is this thing i can do called "reading". read instructions, read other posts, etc. i read you talked about a consensus not being met. and that's what I responded too. and what discussion? I'm the one who originally added the info in the first place to expand upon allen west's personal life. and i think it's funny how it's been no problem for a long while. and u all of a sudden think that info hurts your or something. Dken5 (talk) 21:49, 7 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It's been a problem all along; those of us thinking it should be removed just declined to edit war to keep the information in the article while it was being discussed. If you have something to add to the discussion, please explain on Talk: Allen West (politician). Thanks. Qwyrxian (talk) 22:05, 7 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
And speaking of edit warring, please do not re-add the information until you get consensus on the talk page to add it. We are arguing that it is actually "hurting" the encyclopedia. The way to proceed once information you have added is removed is to discuss it on the talk page and try to gain consensus. Qwyrxian (talk) 22:24, 7 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Two things that you should know about Wikipedia:

We have a rule known as the three revert rule. This means that in a 24 hour period you cannot undo the changes of another editor more than three times. Since you've already reverted three times today, one more revert will get your editing privileges blocked for 24 hours.

Another is our requirement that editors act in a civil manner towards one another. Your most recent edit summary is an example of a comment that violates this policy.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Gamaliel (talk) 22:53, 7 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

LOL! [personal attacks removed] i love you Dken5 (talk) 08:36, 9 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Even though this is a joke to you, rules is rules, ya know? You're edit warring, there is no consensus for that info, etc., etc. So, out of deference to our rules, I'm giving you this final warning. You must stop adding that info, that never had consensus, and discuss on the talk page. If you do not, I will report you for edit warring, and you may be temporarily blocked from editing. A far easier solution is, if you really think this is just a joke, just stop editing. As a side note, I knew nothing about Allen West before I started editing the article, and I originally edited only because of some typographical errors in the article. Now, if you can convince a consensus of people on the talk page to include it, then it will stay. That's just the way things work here--we work collaboratively. So, please, either edit collaboratively, or don't edit. Qwyrxian (talk) 14:40, 9 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
[personal attacks removed] LOL. Dken5 (talk) 04:58, 10 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

April 2011[edit]

This is your last warning; the next time you make personal attacks on other people, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Comment on content, not on other contributors or people. Gamaliel (talk) 05:16, 10 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Page Photos....Help?[edit]

Can someone please help me with the page photos? You'll find that it's a lot of easier to just mutually talk with me rather than erasing my work like nothing with little or no explanation. That's what leads to confrontations. And Pointillist, if you had just come to me to try to help rather than stalking my profile, we could have smoothly worked this thing out. So if someone could please help me. I was just trying to contribute to pages that didn't have photos and thought I did it properly. Dken5 (talk) 05:41, 9 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This is the only one I could find
If you can provide the evidence of permission that the commons folks are asking for (at ThomasSowell1.jpg, Walter_E_Williams.jpg, 8fafa3d2-1d6f-42e5-aa6b-626e8881a9fa_lg.jpeg and Freeman2.jpg) then of course I'll restore the images to the articles. For what its worth, I've already tried searching for free images of these people without success except for Milton Friedman where commons already had an image, so I've added that to the article for the time being. FYI to search for images that will be acceptable to wikimedia commons, I use Google advanced image search and in "Usage Rights" I select labeled for commercial reuse with modification. I also tried to track down the original source for the Milton Friedman pic you found, but no luck there either. - Pointillist (talk) 08:20, 9 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I'm assuming if you who knows and is experienced at finding photos can't find any photos for the profiles then I guess there isn't any. That's terrible. Hopefully some can emerge though. Thanks Pointillist and sorry about the mis-understanding. I thought I was doing it correctly and that anything that was out there like that was free to post. Just if you any extra time ever, if you could keep an eye on those guys and see if any photos emerge. Thank you :) Dken5 (talk) 09:56, 9 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Sure. Another solution is just to contact them (or if they've deceased, contact their descendants) and ask for a picture plus permission to upload it to commons. For an example of an informal first approach to a copyright holder, see the "permission" section of File:Friedman dinner.jpg. There are loads more examples at Wikipedia:Example requests for permission. Once the copyright holder has agreed in principle, it is best if they can send this formal confirmation to permissions-commons-at-wikimedia.org, so there's no doubt about the situation. As you can imagine, an approach like this isn't always successful, and isn't quick! But it really can work: that's how I got the picture for Richard Asher, for example. You could try Walter Williams' first, as he seems very media-savvy (his contact details are here, fyi). Good luck - Pointillist (talk) 11:12, 9 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
