1942 Stanford basketball template

[edit]

Hi Esprqii- I hope that you are well! I am working on filling in the redlinks on college basketball templates and was wondering if you might be able to help. On Template:1942 Stanford basketball, two players are redlinked as they do not have articles - Jack Dana and Ed Voss. I was wondering if you might be interested in creating these (at least as stubs) given your interest in Stanford athlectics. I have been on a run creating these sorts of articles, but it's certainly faster if you have help! You might remember that I made a similar request regarding Don Burness awhile back when the focus was on consensus All-America templates. Any help you can provide is appreciated! I will get to them at some point if you aren't able to, but I thought I'd at least ask! Take care. Rikster2 (talk) 13:16, 10 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds good, I'll put those on the top of the heap! --Esprqii (talk) 16:48, 12 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Wow - you're fast! Thanks so much for helping out - we have somewhat of a long road ahead and every little bit helps! Take it easy! Rikster2 (talk) 12:26, 18 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Intersession changes to Legislative Assembly

[edit]

Looks like some changes have been made. Do you have time to put these in a suitable place? It bugs me when the individual sessions get changed after they have sine died. Valfontis (talk) 23:18, 13 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I think the 74th Oregon Legislative Assembly handled this the right way, adding additional rows when house members changed, like in the 17th that year, to capture the changes. Doesn't look like the 75th did that. I only see one footnoted change, in Senate 20, so we should probably check that out. In the case where the leadership changed we should be sure to keep the old leaders on the list for the numbered sessions. I'll try and take a look later. --Esprqii (talk) 16:41, 14 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Esprqii, I wanted to take a moment to send you a note of thanks for your recent edit. So, Thank You! Rodneyloughjr (talk) 16:15, 18 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article had been stable for more than a year and has no obvious WP:COI. However, the activity on that page a year and half ago was some of the worst I've seen on Wikipedia. I'm glad to see you've stayed away from editing the article. I recommend that if there are further things that you think should be in the article, add them to the talk page first, let a discussion take place, and let others add the information. Given the history, I think any edits you make to the article would be viewed highly suspiciously. Good luck! --Esprqii (talk) 18:09, 18 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Are you willing/able to be an independent 3rd party editor to this page? There are a great many things that we would like to add, but have been fearful of reprisals. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.25.171.5 (talk) 17:59, 27 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I recommend that you post your suggestions on the talk page, as noted above. If they are well-cited and enhance the article, and if you disclose your conflict of interest, I'm sure they will be treated fairly and I may check in on the article now and then. Happy editing. --Esprqii (talk) 18:36, 28 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

re: Mayor Sam Adams

[edit]

Beau Breedlove's name is a matter of public record and is included throughout the footnotes for the article as a whole. The repeated redacting of Beau Breedlove's name as the other party in Mayor Adams's sexual affair scandal seems unjustified to me. I will restore the name in a new edit.Poupartca (talk) 18:42, 10 December 2011 (UTC)Poupartca 10 Dec 2011[reply]

I took a peek in your sandbox--nice work. I can't begin to understand land use, but here's a little something that I do understand to help out. Needs work obviously. I bet there are a few dab opportunities for this vs. Coos Bay Wagon Road Lands. Ta! Valfontis (talk) 22:02, 23 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, that was my private stash that I put on the Wikipedia servers in plain sight! Yeah, I'm slowly chipping away at that one. It is really complex and over my head but it's coming together a little bit and I hope to feel like I can put the article up soon. Good job knocking out the CBWR part. --Esprqii (talk) 22:51, 23 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

Hi. When you recently edited Oregon and California Railroad Revested Lands, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Umpqua Valley (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Imnaha pack edit war!

[edit]

Do they deserve their own article at some point? I think they do! Anyway, I had switched the Imnaha link to Imnaha River because the Cal DFW said they ranged in the river's drainage basin. Is there a better reason to link to tiny Imnaha, Oregon instead? (the town was named after the river) Apropos of nothing, did you know that both the Idanhas in Portugal and in Oregon have old and new versions? Valfontis (talk) 22:48, 28 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ha, that was an edit war fest. I thought I had linked to the town and wondered how it mysteriously changed to the river and thought I made a boo-boo on my own. If you think the river is better, I'm fine with that. Love these Northwest names. Heard a guy on OPB pronounce Yaquina the incorrect Spanish way and I got all huffy. --Esprqii (talk) 22:54, 28 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I can't pronounce Yaquina or Abiqua and I grew up here. But I do know that in Buena Vista, Oregon, "Buena" rhymes with "tuna". I can also say "Yachats" correctly. Valfontis (talk) 23:01, 28 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I can always spot the Californicators when they try to make everything Spanish. EstaKAHda? Never heard of it, sorry. And please get back in your car and let me pump it for you. --Esprqii (talk) 23:09, 28 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Eileen Brady

[edit]

I was watching this, when you created a new redirect for Eileen Brady - a character from Hollyoaks - I predicted that you would skip a DAB and move the article you worked on in it's place. There is a third Eileen Brady - an actress. So maybe a disam page isn't a bad idea.Rain the 1 21:10, 20 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I did search for other Eileen Bradys but didn't see any other Wikipedia articles. Where is it? --Esprqii (talk) 21:13, 20 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Well it has not been created yet - but I just searched google and she was active during the 70s and 80s. She might not be notable with only six television roles, but just thought I'd mention it. Btw, Why did you move the politician to the main name space?Rain the 1 21:19, 20 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not aiming for it to be moved back either - It wasn't a controversial move or anything. Just thought I'd ask. :)Rain the 1 21:27, 20 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
(ec) Since the previous page was a redirect previously, and since the character didn't seem to be active currently, it seemed logical to do so. With only two entries, a dab page seemed unnecessary. I did make a hatnote for the character. --Esprqii (talk) 21:28, 20 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I just noticed the hatnote - that is good. That sounds fair enough - lets say the character was split with multiple sources and real world content - where would they stand then?Rain the 1 21:38, 20 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Not sure I understand your question. Basically my rationale was that if there had been a full-fledged article on the character, I would not have overwritten it. It was only the fact that it was a redirect that led me to do so, since all I did was to replace one redirect with another. --Esprqii (talk) 21:48, 20 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Basically, if someone expanded the character entry and it was split from the list with a separate article. I only asked incase it happens in the future, I'm too busy to work on the character right now - but someone else may some where along the line and could want to know where it was discussed.. atleast then we can link them here in that event.Rain the 1 21:54, 20 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, just like if anyone creates an article on the actress, we can decide if the existing article would be a disambiguation or if a separate Eileen Brady (disambiguation) article should be created. By then, we should know if the politician is going anywhere... --Esprqii (talk) 21:59, 20 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, that sounds like a good idea. Thank you for your time Esprqii on this matter and enjoy your evening.Rain the 1 22:02, 20 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Oregon's population density

[edit]

I'm not saying that you're wrong, but just curious, which state has a lower population density? [1] LittleMountain5 20:45, 22 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Right off, I knew Montana and Nevada had to be lower, but then I saw there was a link right there in the infobox to List of U.S. states by population density, and Oregon ranks 39th. (Though I bet if Eastern Oregon was its own state, it would be pretty far down the list.) --Esprqii (talk) 20:50, 22 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You actually are wrong - the addition reads as: ", making it the least densely populated coastal state in the contiguous United States". The key word here is coastal. The problem is not its factual inaccuracy - it's your speedy reading. 163.1.201.66 (talk) 23:01, 22 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Whoops, my bad. I see this has been around and around while I've been off-wiki. I don't have as much problem with the lack of specific citation as other editors have, but I do think the statistic seems overly precise. "Least densely populated coastal state" is kind of interesting, but adding the "contiguous" part makes it seem like the stat was designed just to make Oregon #1 in the category. This is really what you need in a source for this kind of information--to point out the fact that this is somehow an interesting stat. Otherwise we could just have a long list of stats like "Oregon is the most densely populated state in the Northwest with two time zones." --Esprqii (talk) 18:10, 25 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Oregon elections

[edit]

Ah yeah, totally missed the ball on that one. Probably should be a bit more careful in my searching before I decide to create more election articles! Merge is really the only thing left to do. Thanks for pointing it out. Cheers, Thistheman (talk to me) 05:32, 29 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Or actually, there's really no need for a "merge" discussion, per se. Just make one article a redirect page to the other article. Fill in the info from the one that isn't available in the other. (I'd do it now but I really should get to bed.) Thistheman (talk to me) 05:37, 29 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
