Emydura australis

Hi Scott! Great to see you are still active. Have I got this correct. Emydura australis that was previously removed in 2012, is now back after this 2019 report that you are co-author on! Could you help with the common naming, is now the 'Macquarie River Turtle', Emydura macquarii or could it be Emydura australis, or either? Hi @Sun Creator: good to see you too. Yes we did a mtGenomic study of types and it included the Emydura australis type. It turns out it is the sister species of Emydura victoriae. In all liklihood Emydura australis should have its own page now. It should definitely be removed from the synonymy of Emydura macquarii. Fossil checklist

Firstly congrats on the fossil checklist. It's a great document to help get Wikipedia extinct articles more organised. However, my understanding is not clear and some things seems to be missing, or more likely I don't fully understand. So could you explain why the various genera shown in the family Dermochelyidae (of which the Leatherback sea turtle is a part of), for many extinct genera, for example †Psephophorus, with species †P. polygonus, †P. calvertensis, †P. eocaenus, †P. oregonesis, †P. californiensis, †P. terrypratchetti, †P. rupeliensis, †P. scaldii. Hi @Sun Creator: Many taxa are missing it only covers extinctions during the rise of humanity, ie last 3 million years more or less. We restricted it to the Plio-Pleistocene. Carettochelyinae subfamily.

Is Carettochelyinae a subfamily of Carettochelyidae? Neither the latest checklist from TTWG or TEWG have it, but a fossil Allaeochelys does and the fossilworks places Allaeochelyini in it. Can https://species.wikimedia.org/wiki/Carettochelyinae be sorted, it listed TTWG and TEWG as references, neither of which have it. Regards, Sun Creator^(talk) 23:40, 16 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Its a complicated group, formerly with a world wide distribution. I am in the process of sorting it and adding more references for it. Thee are over 20 species in this supposed monotypic family.
