Gothic Metal and Death Rock[edit]

Nice call on the removing of metal traces in the Death Rock article. Im having similar problems with the Gothic Metal article on people with little to no knowledge of the subjects editing the article and trying to draw an association between Goth Music and Gothic Metal when there isnt one. Perhaps the Death Rock and Gothic Rock articles could do with a bit of an overhaul. Ive seen that youve edited the Death Rock article quite a bit, so i assume you know a lot about the subject.

I suggest, if your willing to listen, that you read the Gothic Metal article. Firstly so you better understand what it is, and secondly so you can work better with it, and its contents, on drawing the big black line (or pink if you prefer) that divides the two by a long way.

I call out to you as a fellow editor of articles, simply because i do not know enough about Goth Rock or Death Rock to compently edit them, mainly due to my work and association in the metal scene. This im sure we can build some form of a bridge, even if that bridge is to eleborate on the seperation of the two cultures. Leyasu 05:57, 6 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Deathrockers generally don't have any interest in Gothic Metal so I don't see why I would need to "work better with it" if it's none of my concern. Whatever you guys want to do with your article is fine by me as long as you "play nice" with others and refrain from making derogatory comments about the other genres. Plus I don't understand the reference to "pink line" - pink is not a color commonly associated with Deathrockers. (Typically we wear a lot of black with white, bright red and slime green accents.) Finally, I haven't done any editing on the Goth Rock article - I'll let the Goths do that themselves. See the Death Rock articles talk page for the reason behind the edits. Also, im talking about people who dont know anything about Death Rock or Gothic Metal, associating the two. See the Gothic Music article for this problem. Also the pink line thing was a joke, im sorry you didnt get it. it was mainly a play on my affiliation with only wearing black and pink.

General purpose of messaging you, was in regards that some Death Rock bands, and some Gothic Metal bands, take influence from each other. What also doesent help is that many people assume that several Doom Metal bands are Gothic Metal, including the genres progenetors such as My Dying Bride and Theater of Tragedy. This doesnt help when those Doom Metal bands in question are influenced by Death Rock bands, causing people to mistake firstly the bands as Gothic Metal, and then secondly, Death Rock and Gothic Metal being associated. Perhaps mentioning the influence that Death Rock bands had on Doom Metal bands would be good. Leyasu 11:12, 9 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not familar with any of the metal sub-genres so I'm not able to say anything about them or how they've been influenced by any Deathrock bands. The moment a band begins to incorporate metal into it's sound, it ceases to be regarded as Deathrock - metal styled guitar riffs sound pretty foreign to ears which are use to listening to Deathrock and the related genres (Glam, Punk, early Hardcore, 1st and 2nd generation Goth, Post-Punk, Synthpop, early Industrial, New Wave, New Romantic, etc.). The Deathrock sound was pretty firmly established by the early to mid 1980s, back when there was some animosity between the Punk and Metal scenes so it never got played in the Clubs. It's not unusual for some 2nd generation Goths (after 1985) to like some forms of Metal (Andrew Eldritch wanted Sisters of Mercy to be regarded as a Metal band, not a Goth band), but 2nd Generation Goth wasn't an influence on Deathrock. I'd never heard that Andy wanted the Sisters to be considered Metal; they don't particularly sound it, and if he wanted that, he could have sounded like it quite easily. I'm aware of statements saying he wanted to be considered just Rock, sans any kind of Gothic. (To which I would have said, then get rid of the pretentious Gothy name ...) Anyway, just butting in with an opinion; was reading your talk page after seeing you fixing issues on the Death Rock page; good stuff. If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. Scarlet's Remains[edit]

Another editor has added the {{prod}} template to the article Scarlet's Remains, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. File permission problem with File:Deathrockers.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Deathrockers.jpg, which you've sourced to Jenn Bats (one of the promoters of Release the Bats). I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-enwikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-enwikimedia.org.

Proposed deletion of Pagans in Recovery[edit]

The article Pagans in Recovery has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This article's talk page is 12 years of editors questioning the topic's notability, with no one stepping forward with any evidence that it is in fact notable. The most compelling argument I see on the talk page is to merge anything of value from this into Alcoholics Anonymous.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ~T P W 03:47, 23 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
