I am all for it. I work for an ISP, and I am in front of a computer all day long. I can provide an e-mail address where I am SMS'd immediately with whatever message is sent to me. Colin Keigher 03:35, 17 April 2006 (UTC) I can see the benefit and I like all your impressive branding, but won't this make Wikipedia into a sort of game for many of its vandals?--James 22:57, 17 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What sort of response time do you mean by "Quick"? Tens of minutes? Minutes? Seconds? Sr.Wombat 00:25, 20 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've seen admins (and Tawkerbot2) revert obvious vandalism within four or five seconds. I've managed six seconds myself. I guess they're aiming for that sort of time frame – Gurch 16:00, 22 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The userbox

[edit]

Might want to edit it so it says "QRVS" as opposed to "CVU" which is something else. 68.39.174.238 01:57, 19 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Question

[edit]

Is this any diffrent from the WP:CVU or anyone who does RC patrol? There are already a lot of anti-vandalism type pages on Wikipedia, so is this needed? Petros471 10:47, 20 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This WikiProject is an extension of the Counter-Vandalism unit. It is here to quickly respond to large-impact incidents of vandalism as opposed to vandalism in general. So the goal of the two: to stop vandalism, is mutual, but the scope of this WikiProject is much more specific and targeted. Wizardry Dragon 17:22, 20 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
But how is it any different than the RC Patrol? - Conrad Devonshire 03:38, 22 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Again, the scope of the project is much more focussed. They deal with bad edits in general, this project deals with a specific kind of bad edit - that is large scale vandalism.
I can understand your reservations, I have them as well, but given some of the vandalism that has occured lately that I have seen, I think that while it's not the most useful project, it is, nonetheless, useful and needed. -- Wizardry Dragon 23:35, 22 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
For the record, being specific is exactly what WikiProjects should NOT be. --Rory096(block) 23:46, 23 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
That's opinion, and I'm sure everyone has one of those :)
I have to say, it's curious that General Eisenhower has commented here to make a case for his project - and I'll refrain from saying anything more on that note until he's spoken. -- Wizardry Dragon 23:48, 23 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
To the contrary, it's specifically mentioned in Wikipedia:WikiProjects. --Rory096(block) 23:53, 23 April 2006 (UTC) I'm an idiot, that's Wikipedia:Portals.[reply]
LOL - it's alright, I made a very similar mistake with another WikiProject. (We all have our moments) -- Wizardry Dragon 00:01, 24 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Count Me In

[edit]

I'll be glad to help. If you don't mind, I'll add myself to the list. --OrtonFan2006 12:08, 21 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'll tag along if you're looking for one more... I sit in front of a screen all day in school just surfing the pages. Anything to stop those lil bastards who think they're cute by writing "PENIS VAGINA" all over the place. Ghostalker 07:18, 25 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

I think we should make a new logo. It is the same as the CVU logo. Give me some ideas, and I will make it. The Republican 21:28, 23 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I know, we can put a picture of a gang member with a huge, red, bold "X" on him. Funnybunny (talk/This Wiki needs your help!) 01:33, 2 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism Response Is Rapid

[edit]

Most incidents of vandalism are rolled back instantly, so why does this exist? Computerjoe's talk 17:50, 1 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

So far as I can tell, because the people who are in it wanted an excuse to form a wiki-vigilante gang. What, do CVU and RC patrol aim to revert vandalism slowly or something? — GT 09:05, 3 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Attention all QRVS members!

[edit]

Replace {{QRVS}} with {{User QRVS}} (reason stated at WP:UB). The Republican 20:39, 6 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

How is it different?

[edit]

I often RC patrol and quickly revert with popups, but I can't see how this is different from normal RC patrol. I read "We quickly respond to all stubs, and red links not just vandalism.". What does this mean? Vandalism to stub templates?

Can someone explain how this differs from RC patrol? I'm all for becoming a member BTW if I can understand the difference :) --Tim 13:03, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No. We want Wikipedia to be the largest encyclopedia on the Internet. General Eisenhower (at war or at peace) 19:08, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I am so confused

[edit]

Will General Eisenhower, the creator of this project, please explain, in full detail, what is the major difference between the QRVS and the CVU? I thank you in advance. American Patriot 1776 21:00, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
P.S. While I see that you already have an explaination, I think it's a bit vauge for my thick self to understand. Sorry!

Alliance?

[edit]

I've made my own anti-vandalism squad. Didja wanna form an alliance General Eisenhower? OrtonFan2006 01:25, 14 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Of course. We could merge the 2 projects together to form a superproject. General Eisenhower • (at war or at peace) (History of War) 18:46, 24 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Quick Question

[edit]

When I go to log into my account, my username is always showing (and I don't need to type it in). Is there any way that I can clear it?QuizQuick 19:11, 14 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Depending on your browser and OS, you will have to look somewhere similar to "Internet Options" and find the Auto Complete Options. From there it should let you clear the auto complete info. For example on windows with Internet Explorer, go to internet options under tools, and go to the content tab. That should have a category called Personal Information, and a button for autocomlpete.

DuctoMan 20:27, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Also, that button that says "remember my ID on this computer" on the login screen could be a factor.

DuctoMan 20:30, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, people.

[edit]

I'd like to put my name on the list of members. When I first started on wikipedia, I loved vandilising stuff. But that wore off after 5 times or so. So now I like to help any organization that needs help, and be nice to wikipedia.
