Mere hours to go now

Hi G. I wanted to share the excitement that fellow wikipedians are expressing at this thread User talk:MarnetteD#DW with you. Lets see bow ties, fezzes and Stetsons have been cool so far I wonder if any articles of clothing will be added to that list this time. Cheers and have great time tomorrow night!! MarnetteD | Talk 22:20, 31 August 2012 (UTC)

Some weeks ago we mentioned Jenna-Louise Coleman - just in case you don't recognise her when watching Asylum of the Daleks, she's the very first actor that you see after the opening titles. --Redrose64 (talk) 20:44, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
Yes, she was great! Maybe the new companion will be a relative or a parallel universe counterpart of her character there? We'll have to see... Glimmer721 talk 15:15, 2 September 2012 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) I just watched the bowling video Glimmer posted on MarnetteD's talkpage. The series definitely has the best group of main cast members on television! Usually someone ends up annoying me, but with Who, everyone's great. I've been marathoning it up all day (currently at "Time of Angels"), but no longer have access to BBC America. Aww well, something to do online tomorrow I suppose... Ruby 2010/2013 21:58, 1 September 2012 (UTC)

You'll be in for a nice surprise, then! It's really unexpected. Glimmer721 talk 15:15, 2 September 2012 (UTC)

A little Dr Who memorabilia for you

Well Asylum o/t D's certainly was emotional and gets the new season off to a great start. I do wish that the ICU ward Daleks had the little button blinkers on the top of their head (instead of the great big light bulbs that come from the films) that were prevalent in the Classic series but that is probably just me being oldy woldy stodgy crotchety. Thought I would share this bit of classic series memorabilia with you. In my meanderings around wikipedia I came across this article Aristide Bruant with the accompanying picture by Lautrec. It reminded me of a Dr Who poster that I bought at the 20th anniversary convention in Chicago in 1983. Unfortunately, it went astray in a long distance move that I endured back in the 90's but thanks to the internet I was able to track down this website [1] which has a picture of it. Like your work with the userboxes I enjoy how creative fans of a given show can be. Cheers and have a wonderful week. MarnetteD | Talk 13:56, 2 September 2012 (UTC)

Oops forgot to mention that I hope that you survived fish fingers and custard okay :-) MarnetteD | Talk 14:09, 2 September 2012 (UTC)
Haha I love the spin on the poster! Fish fingers and custard wasn't bad. I'm going to work on the "Asylum" article throughout the week. Glimmer721 talk 15:44, 2 September 2012 (UTC)

Just to let you know I've given it a review and though I've suggested an ALT hook, otherwise it looks good to go! Please do check the hook though, see if you agree. PanydThe muffin is not subtle 12:03, 5 September 2012 (UTC)

"The Truth" Question

Did you mention one time that a book you read about philosophy in The X-Files mentioned the final scene had echoes of Christian faith in it? Or am I making this all up...? Anyway, I'm prepping "The Truth" for (hopefully) FAR, and I'd love to beef up the "Themes" section.--Gen. Quon (Talk) 04:19, 5 September 2012 (UTC)

Yes, actually, you're right! It was mentioned as showing Mulder's rare faith in something religiously related. On page 44 (link, I think) there is a statement that leads to footnote 12 of that chapter (page 53) which gives that whole discussion and a small interpretation. I think the same scene was mentioned another time, but I could be wrong. According to the index the episode is also referenced on pages 142 (though that's just a quote) and 153-54 (which is in the same chapter, so you might want to read that). That seems to be about the CSM and his "transvaluation of power". Glimmer721 talk 22:11, 5 September 2012 (UTC)
Because it's relevant to both of you; I responded re: Doctor Who on my talk page where you asked about your article. Though personally I'm not convinced "The Truth" is any different to "The Sixth Extinction" in Mulder's faith in resurrection, etc; and he was already a believer in ghosts from season one's "Shadows". Ah well. GRAPPLE X 22:23, 5 September 2012 (UTC)
I'm reply to Doctor Who right now. And yeah, I think what it was going for was the life-after-death and "something bigger than us as a plan" thing. And supposedly he holds Scully's cross necklace. Glimmer721 talk 22:27, 5 September 2012 (UTC)
Cool! I added it all the themes section, explaining his belief in theism. I think that articles looks really nice now. Also, it just got copyedited, so I'll put it up at peer-review one of these days.--Gen. Quon (Talk) 00:15, 6 September 2012 (UTC)

Location for A Town Called Mercy

I left this on the talk page and I hope you can access the various websites:- " Play the Trailer [2], then wiki commons Mini Hollywood File:Fale - Spain - Mini Hollywood - 11.jpg, Texas Holllywood/Fort Bravo play the video for the Grand central bank: http://www.fortbravo.es/. It's original research but you cannot hide the facts. Most of this article seems to be a copyvio anyway". I knew the location as I am a fan of Queen of Swords which was filmed at Texas Hollywood. It is a underated series that might appeal to you. REVUpminster (talk) 14:15, 11 September 2012 (UTC)

The Lost Hero

Hey Glimmer. I'm back from a nice wikibreak and was thinking about trying to get The_Lost_Hero to GA again. Any suggestions on what to do?

I'd say look over the first GA review first and use that as a guidline. I also spot a citation needed tag. More reviews can probably be found too...sometimes libraries have subscriptions to book review sites (Booklist, etc) that are typically unavaliable. Glimmer721 talk 00:12, 20 September 2012 (UTC)

I really like this

I really liked this article, especially for what it says about River Song. Is it reliable, do you think? Eshlare (talk) 15:13, 18 September 2012 (UTC)

I've seen that source used before, so I'd say go ahead. In two weeks we can start working more on Amy and Rory (and probably River) since they will have officially left (if Gillan gets what she wants, that is). For a side-project I gathered some resources on Liz Shaw, although I didn't really know where to start putting them in the article. I'm also slowly trying to get "The Eleventh Hour" up to FA. By the way, do any episodes come to mind that may have some critical commentary on its themes? Just out of reading reviews I concocted a theme section for "A Town Called Mercy", and I remember the intended anti-war message from "The Christmas Invasion" (though that article needs clean-up first), so it might be something to think about in the future. Glimmer721 talk 00:19, 19 September 2012 (UTC)
I'd like to do more on River. With a bit of additional content and tweaking I think it might be easiest to render her article complete. I also want to do more on Jo Grant. (I have testimonials on the character's talk page). "The God Complex" might be a good one? All the stuff about Faith and Waiting and saying goodbye and what now seems to be foreshadowing? Because there are so many recurring and pre-eminent themes across series five and six (see The New Yorker article, an article along the lines of Themes in Steven Moffat's Doctor Who might even be possible. Eshlare (talk) 22:05, 20 September 2012 (UTC)
I was thinking "God Complex" as well; back when I brought that to GA I noticed how the reviews commented on the Doctor's storyline and such. It's also one of my favorite episodes. I'm working through the Pertwee era, but I just started The Ambassadors of Death and so I haven't gotten to Jo yet (although I have seen The Three Doctors). Glimmer721 talk 22:16, 20 September 2012 (UTC)
Ooh, I just found this, which contains some interviews and articles written by Benjamin cook for DWM. Could be useful. Site also has a River Song timeline that was used in one of the DWM issues. Glimmer721 talk 00:29, 21 September 2012 (UTC)
I looked into them, the Billie Piper one says "coming soon" - How soon is that? :P The David Tennant one might be useful though. Children of Earth didn't make a lot of people very happy, but it's consistent from beginning to end and I think it's possibly not only some of Russell T Davies best writing, but some of the best direction I've seen from Euros Lyn. Finishing it first might work as it's almost a seperate series in some regards to Torchwood series one and two.
I watched The Power of Three last night, I really liked the character stuff. And the trailer for next week looks really outstanding. I'm expecting it to be something special. My first impression is "Blink in New York with River Song and lots of tears." Eshlare (talk) 07:42, 23 September 2012 (UTC)
Oh yeah, I loved "The Power of Three". Not quite ready for next week to say goodbye to the Ponds and Doctor Who (until Christmas for that one though), but I love the look of it from the trailer. Glimmer721 talk 17:08, 23 September 2012 (UTC)
Alex Kingston talks "Angels" - Might be able to use it for the article? I'm not going to use it for River's one until it's clear what she is saying in context. Also, thank you for recording these two examples for posterity. Made me laugh :) Eshlare (talk) 18:45, 25 September 2012 (UTC)
Thanks! What cracks me up about the Silence one is that they even added an edit summary: "doctor who inside joke". Glimmer721 talk 01:03, 26 September 2012 (UTC)
