Please don't change other peoples talk pages

You've already been warned by other people from doing this. I have reverted your changes in this case, something you should have done when it was obvious to you that this wasn't ok on Tournesols talk page, thereby showing that you actually understood what people told you. I've taken a look at your talk page archive here and some of the metadiscussions you've been involved with after the request you sent me in the middle of July through the mail system on svwp - and I will not spend any of my time on trying to help you. You are welcome back in three years to svwp and I hope that you have a greater understanding of why you should just stop doing a type of edit when someone who has more knowledge (admin or not) tells you to stop. Please do NOT contact me, nor anyone else on svwp, about your block. I've added a request for a block of your ability to send email on svwp. GameOn (talk) 09:22, 2 August 2010 (UTC)

GameOn, I have already stopped sending e-mails. Afterwards I understood I shouldn't have sent the e-mail to you. You didn't have to answer the e-mail I sent you. You don't either have to request to change block settings, since I have already sent my last e-mail regarding my block. Sorry again. /HeyMid (contributions) 09:27, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
Consider this a last warning Heymid! You have been warned by the admins here already and I will not hesitate to request for a block on you! Your ability to send mails on svwp has been blocked. GameOn (talk) 09:38, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
I probably should have added the diff that shows what was the reason for the warning. GameOn (talk) 09:47, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
I don't want BjörnBergman to read that email, which basically was the reason as to why I removed it. I fully understand why you are extremely angry at me right now. /HeyMid (contributions) 09:50, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
I'm not angry with you, I'm dissapointed that you tried to use me to start discussions on svwp that will not lead to anything useful - I actually thought when I got your mail that you had understood what you did wrong and that you would be able to come back sooner than three years to svwp and be constructive contributor to the project. The discussion on that part is over as far as I'm concerned. I hope you will show that the people who have claimed that you're a troll are wrong by doing constructive edits among the articles on enwp and stay out of meta discussions (ie. all wikipedia:-pages and all talk pages), we are here to write an encyclopedia not to debate a block. Feel free to edit on svwp in three years time, and please don't go around your block on svwp as you did here since nothing good will come from it. GameOn (talk) 10:15, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
IMO, apologizing is not really a case of WP:EVADE, as I never requested an unblock there, I just wanted to apologize for my bizarre behavior on SvWp. I am sure I can come back to SvWp in 3 years. /HeyMid (contributions) 10:19, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
You even used (what looks like) a proxy to be able to edit on svwp. Please don't do that. Can we now both return to better things? I need to continue packing for my next trip and you should use your time to write in articles instead IMHO. GameOn (talk) 10:23, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
Yes. I just want to tell you I used the proxy in order to apologize, not actually evading the block by editing articles. I have only apologized, nothing more. /HeyMid (contributions) 10:25, 2 August 2010 (UTC)

Withdrawing RfAs

FYI: not only was your comment[1] completely incorrect, as explained[2] by the bureaucrat who had closed Cgoodwin's RfA, but withdrawing an RfA is probably the second most frequently occurring form of RfA closure after WP:NOTNOW. See Wikipedia:Unsuccessful adminship candidacies (Chronological) for some relevant data. Nsk92 (talk) 17:40, 3 August 2010 (UTC)

OK. Thanks for notifying me. /HeyMid (contributions) 17:45, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
I am replying here to the question you asked[3] at Cgoodwin's talk page. A crat typically closes an RfA after it has run its full course, to the originally scheduled expiration time. At that point the closing crat carefully evaluates consensus on whether or not to promote the candidate to adminship. Most RfAs don't make it that far. The majority of RfA requests are closed per NOTNOW/SNOW well before the originally scheduled expiration time, if it becomes very clear that the RfA is not going to succeed. Technically, anyone (not necessarily a crat, and not necessarily even an admin) can close an RfA per NOTNOW/SNOW. However, in practice such closures are usually done by admins, and occasionally (as in Cgoodwin's case) by crats. If the candidate withdraws the RfA, then anyone can do the actual closure since in such cases the outcome is clear. Nsk92 (talk) 18:14, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
OK. Thanks for the answer! However, I think it is better to answer where the question first was asked, making the questions and answers better organized. /HeyMid (contributions) 18:17, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
Ordinarily, yes, and that is where I replied first. However, in this case, out of consideration for the, understandably, bruised feelings of Cgoodwin about the outcome of his RfA, I think it is better to move the general discussion, unrelated to his RfA, from his talk page. That's why I moved my reply here. Nsk92 (talk) 18:32, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
OK. /HeyMid (contributions) 18:36, 3 August 2010 (UTC)

My userspace

Please refrain from editing my userspace unless you are actually discussing something. I realize you mean no harm, but it's my space, and should look as I want it to. –Schmloof (talk · contribs) 20:10, 4 August 2010 (UTC)

OK. No problem. /HeyMid (contributions) 20:16, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) Actually, your userspace is not actually 'yours' - it's Wikipedia's. Connormahtalk 06:44, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
Oh my. If you would like to argue semantics, then it's not even Wikipedia's – it's the Wikimedia Foundation's content. Thank you for wasting my time. /end.touchinessSchmloof (talk · contribs) 06:51, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
Well, per WP:UP#OWN, we don't own them, but meh, what the hell. Connormahtalk 07:03, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

Re: "Banned" is not the same thing as "blocked"

I replied on my talk page. Yes, I know this now, but I thank you for your detailed response. Flyer22 (talk) 16:32, 5 August 2010 (UTC)

No problem. You are always welcome! /HeyMid (contributions) 22:49, 5 August 2010 (UTC)

Vandalism on Logic Wireless wiki page

Hello Heymid: There has been a lot of vandalism on the Logic Wireless page from a user name LonnyBaxter. I have had to go in there and fix the page about 6 times. The company is young, but known quite well in the telecom industry. This user is defacing the name of the company, and writing hurtful & non-credible materials about it. All of the things written on the Logic Wireless page have been cited. LonnyBaxter comes in and vandalizes it. I have put in a motion to have an edit protected on the page. It is better for the admins to add pertinent things, rather than degenerates writing childish things. Thanks, LW. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.251.21.5 (talk) 02:53, 16 August 2010 (UTC)

Hi! Basically, there was only one user who vandalized the page: Lonnybaxter, who is currently indefinitely blocked for being a "Vandalism-only account" (abbreviated VOA), so there is no reason to protect the page. /HeyMid (contributions) 08:26, 16 August 2010 (UTC)

Assessing for WPSweden

Hello Heymid, I noticed that you first assessed 2010 European Trophy Junior for WP:SWEDEN, then removed the project tag. I've used the philosophy that articles on specific sports events that take place entirely or mainly in Sweden, should be assessed for WPSweden. This corresponds to Category:Sports festivals in Sweden and its subcategories, which is within the project's scope. Regards, Tomas e (talk) 12:00, 18 August 2010 (UTC)

My personal opinions are that this tournament also includes teams from not just Sweden, but also other countries around Europe. /HeyMid (contributions) 13:19, 18 August 2010 (UTC)

Hashing/de-hashing

I'm not getting into the middle of the hash/de-hash dispute (which should perhaps be taken up at WT:RFA), but were you aware of the relevant background when you re-added the hash mark here? –xenotalk 18:56, 18 August 2010 (UTC)

I've re-removed the hash mark and stroken over the comment entirely now. Yes, you are right, blocked users should not be allowed to vote. /HeyMid (contributions) 19:08, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
This is a subject of some dispute, the user was not blocked at the time of their vote, but they've since been blocked for disruption related to their votes. The community is somewhat divided - I wanted to make sure that if you restored the hash mark you did so with full knowledge of the situation. –xenotalk 19:13, 18 August 2010 (UTC) (N.B. I've restored the original striking, my belief is that only the user should be striking words they've written)
Thanks for noticing me. I just want to tell you that the same thing as I did now (removing votes after they've been blocked) is also done at the Swedish Wikipedia. /HeyMid (contributions) 19:18, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
Hm, I believe it's something the community here has never come to grips with. –xenotalk 19:20, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
I think I am a little wrong. On the Swedish Wikipedia, it's about sockpuppetry, but in this case, there hasn't been any sockpuppetry. If it was a sockpuppet voting, it would definitely have been removed. But in this case, it's about a (before constructive) editor who has started trolling and been blocked for all the bad he has done in the last. /HeyMid (contributions) 19:27, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for clarifying. In this case, I think we've always removed the votes. –xenotalk 19:29, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
This is terrible. A user who has been editing since May 2006 and was granted with the rollbacker- and reviewer flags, and then starts doing these weird things... Well, it's apparent that this block was clearly justified. /HeyMid (contributions) 19:24, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
Burned out and decided to start taking the piss. Definitely unfortunate. –xenotalk 19:25, 18 August 2010 (UTC)

Blocked

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 24 hours for Persisting in arguing with / harrassing a Swedish-language Wikipedia editor despite receiving multiple warnings for the very same behavior in the past[4]. Please understand that this block is not being placed as a punishment, but to: 1) Deter the continuation of disruptive behavior, and 2) Encourage a rapid understanding that the present behavior cannot continue and will not be tolerated.. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|Your reason here}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. decltype (talk) 15:38, 22 August 2010 (UTC)

Unblock request

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Heymid (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

I have been blocked by decltype for a period of 24 hours, because (s)he believes I was attempting to harass (or attack) Tournesol by writing this and this, despite numerous "final warning"s given here. Although this block is relatively short, I still want to appeal this block. :

Tournesol is a Swedish administrator at the Swedish Wikipedia. He has been an administrator there for (5 years?). He indefinitely blocked me from that Wikipedia project in late May 2010. Since then, he has been hunting me and is doing all he can in order to prevent me from getting permissions at the English Wikipedia, etc. This time, my purpose wasn't to attack him. I am simply angry at him hunting me all-around the English Wikipedia, which I believe is an unconstructive behavior. I want him to let me be alone here at the English Wikipedia. But he doesn't seem to listen. Tournesol is watching me through either his watchlist or my contributions page.

 :

I believe this block is worthless and a little too cheap, other than showing me that my current behavior against this user isn't okay.

 :

I have two options. I can either: :# stick with this account, which may mean my disputes with Tournesol will continue, or :# create a new account for a fresh, new start. I am allowed to do this, see WP:SOCK#Legitimate uses.

 :

I hate being pursued by Tournesol. If required, please put this unblock request on hold and start a discussion at WP:ANI for further discussion regarding my disputes with this user. We need to come up with a solution to stop all this mess. Thank you for your time reading this. /HeyMid (contributions) 17:24, 22 August 2010 (UTC)

Decline reason:

Your harassment is inappropriate, and will not be accepted on Wikipedia. Your own actions have been reason enough for you to not gain enhanced permissions. Note: while you are blocked, if you create a second account it will be considered as WP:EVADE, and is blockable. If you wish WP:CLEANSTART feel free once the block has expired, but you'll need to 100% avoid articles you have edited in the past, or else you'll be recognizable. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 17:35, 22 August 2010 (UTC)

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

I think decltype has misunderstood me. This time, I didn't request an unblock from the Swedish Wikipedia, nor I didn't attempt to harass Tournesol this time. I am also wondering whether BWilkins really read my whole unblock request message and declined it, or simply declined it in good faith. Are administrators allowed to decline unblock request in good faith without actually reading through the whole request? /HeyMid (contributions) 17:42, 22 August 2010 (UTC)
So what are my actions? Are they harassing other users? I will stop with it immediately from now on. /HeyMid (contributions) 18:00, 22 August 2010 (UTC)

Thank semi-spam

Thanks for your reasoned oppose at my RfA. I hope you didn't feel pressured to change your vote: that certainly wasn't my intention, as I believe you did have a valid reason to oppose - if I don't meet your criteria for admin candidates, then that's the way it is. I do hope, however, that there are no hard feelings between us, and that you feel free to voice your opinion on any matter. Cheers, Nikkimaria (talk) 16:08, 24 August 2010 (UTC)

Hi! I got a little confused when the other users apparently didn't appreciate my oppose reason. What I meant was that, due to your small amounts of edits the last few months, I am a little concerned whether you really need the tools. But fortunately, it was not an oppose that affected this RFA, it was basically just an opinion from me. The only thing I did was breaking the 100% success mark for support. But I hope you don't find me as this user. /HeyMid (contributions) 16:22, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
No worries - like I said, I thought your reasoning made sense: If I don't meet your criteria, there was no reason for you to support me. Oh, and copied from my talk, in reply to your question there it's semi-spam in the sense that I left a message for everyone who !voted, but that message was not automated, nor (in most cases) was it identical. Cheers, Nikkimaria (talk) 16:49, 24 August 2010 (UTC)

I am not sure what comment you are talking about. If it was the one at the bottom about the sockpuppet account that comment had nothing to do with what he was supposed to do with arbcom. Inka 888 14:23, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

You wrote that he is allowed to sock, as long as he does not violate WP:OUTING. But he isn't allowed to sock, no matter what. /HeyMid (contributions) 14:26, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

that is not what i said. I said that "no one is going to stop him from having a sock". He could start a sock he should not but he could. Inka 888 17:59, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

He can register a sockpuppet if he wants to, but then he would soon be recognized and that account would also be blocked, but for block evasion. /HeyMid (contributions) 18:02, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

If he starts a new account aka sock and makes productive edits in other words acts like a normal wikipedian then there is no way to find out that it is the same user - without checkuser but that would be fishing. I don't support the idea of making a sock at all or that users actions at all and i think this conversation is going on way to long about something that was said a while ago plus xeno already told me about what i did wrong there. They know which types of articles he edits in and his language use. In either way, I think he would be revealed. I don't think it matters whether or not he continues trolling. /HeyMid (contributions) 19:32, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

again i don't support that user creating a sockpuppet but if he does that's his problem. I NEVER told him to create a sock. Inka 888 19:43, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

You wrote "no one's going to stop you". Thank you for your inputs. /HeyMid (contributions) 19:49, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

that is correct. the whole comment about the sockpuppet was about an earlier conversation with tommy 2010 and xeno. It was a reference to a comment that a3ro made.Inka 888 20:48, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

OK. /HeyMid (contributions) 20:46, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

Hi, I've redirected the page to his userpage instead of deleting it, to preserve the page's history. Not sure whether or not to full protect it though. Airplaneman 17:22, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

I think the page should be removed. It was recreated more than one year after Zingostar was indefinitely blocked (with a speedy delete nomination). We can then consider recreating the page, but with a redirect to User:Zingostar. /HeyMid (contributions) 17:24, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
Looks like Fastily has handled it: [5]. Regards, Airplaneman 20:01, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
I see. /HeyMid (contributions) 20:03, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

Immaturity

Being a teenager on Wikipedia is not a license to be immature per this[6] edit. Looking over your past edits, I see a history of very poor judgment disguised as zealousness. Especially after your previous block, I think you need to decide whether or not Wikipedia is the right place for you at this point in time. If you are unable to approach the project in an impartial and mature manner, you might want to give some serious consideration to returning in a couple years. Trusilver 18:33, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

I simply thought it was a fun mistake by him, but I should probably stop writing messages like that. /HeyMid (contributions) 18:45, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, you probably should. Also, do some more research next time. Jmlk17 07:56, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
I did a quick research at RandySavageFTW's talk page, but couldn't find anything related to this. But I agree with you too. /HeyMid (contributions) 13:12, 30 August 2010 (UTC)

The article Andreas Dahlström has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Does not appear to meet WP:ATHLETE; has not yet appeared at highest level.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Stifle (talk) 10:42, 31 August 2010 (UTC)

SLOW DOWN

Now that I have your attention, Heymid, please slow down. Comparatively, you're still very new here and I applaud your enthusiasm, but you need to channel it better. Just in the last few days, you've reported an established, respected editor to UAA, proposed lowering the protection of a Main Page section and now you've proposed desysopping inactive admins. Please, before you do these kinds of things, take a moment to think. For example, I'm an admin, so if someone with a bad username were editing my talk page, don't you think I might have done something? Or don't you think something might have been done in the years that they've been making thousands of edits? Likewise, with your two recent proposals, while commendable, both have been discussed before at great length.

Why don't you spend some time in the mainspace writing articles, which is the purpose of Wikipedia, rather than hanging around the project space. If you continue the way you're going, you'll either suffer from burnout or you'll end up blocked. At the very least, please don't continue to make proposals, contribute to discussions and certainly not insult other editors without understanding what's going on. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 18:12, 30 August 2010 (UTC)

My purpose is to try to learn and understand how Wikipedia works, that's all. /HeyMid (contributions) 18:14, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
Well if you could it at a jog, rather than a sprint, that would be good. Before you hit save, just ask yourself how many times that has been proposed before or why the admin whose talk page they're editing hasn't blocked them. The best view of how Wikipedia works isn't at ANI, it comes from writing articles and participating in processes like AfD and, at the other end, GAN, FAC etc. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 19:14, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
Also, looking through some of the AIV reports that you've declined - vandalism only accounts don't usually require 4 warnings - most of the reports you've declined have been blocked indefinitely as vandalism only accounts. Connormah 19:31, 30 August 2010 (UTC)

Timothymarskell

Could you leave Timothymarskell in peace? It's being handled, no need to continue to badger him.
Thanks, Amalthea 15:22, 31 August 2010 (UTC)
OK. I simply understand that it is pretty obvious that this is an impersonator of the real Marskell. /HeyMid (contributions) 15:25, 31 August 2010 (UTC)
Maybe, but with arbcom already looking into it there's just no need to try and force him into dialog on his talk page. Amalthea 15:38, 31 August 2010 (UTC)
(edit conflict) Maybe not forcing him, but such a behavior like that is totally unacceptable, he is only taking up all other's time. Really, this is a troll, believe me. The fact that he refuses to verify his real identity in any way possible and that he hasn't specified an e-mail address (like in the real account), is enough for me to believe that this user is totally trolling. I am still wondering how users could try to impersonate an admin like that. Again, totally unacceptable. Don't react too much, it was just a single post. /HeyMid (contributions) 15:46, 31 August 2010 (UTC)
At minimum, you might consider keeping your speculation on your own talk page. Or even better-- go write some articles. That is a better way to learn how Wiki works. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 15:50, 31 August 2010 (UTC)
Also, spending hours up to a day on an obvious impersonator (nonsense) isn't worth anything at all. I'm even surprised that ArbCom is currently looking at this case, when it is so obvious. I'd even be surprised if this turns out to be in fact the real Marksell, but I don't think so. Impersonations have been done at the English Wikipedia all over the years, like the case with AndyZ (an unknown user creating a new account, several days after the account hijacking). That user claimed to be AndyZ, and many times they take advantage of the other admin's "wiki-breaks" in order to claim that they have come back. /HeyMid (contributions) 15:56, 31 August 2010 (UTC)
Since you are so much wiser than Wiki's illustrious arbs, perhaps you'll want to run for ARBCOM in the next elections? SandyGeorgia (Talk) 15:58, 31 August 2010 (UTC)
No. But what I mean is that impersonations like this one have been done many times, so don't be surprised if this turns out to be just an impersonator... /HeyMid (contributions) 16:03, 31 August 2010 (UTC)
I echo concerns that you please stop meddling; it is unhelpful. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 15:41, 31 August 2010 (UTC)

Advice

Heymid, you need to listen to the advise you're being given. I've just persuaded a fellow administrator, an editor I hold in high esteem, that you're worthy of one more chance and that he shouldn't block you. Stay away from issues where you have little to offer, for example Marksell/Timothymarksell. Instead, spend some time in the mainspace. Spend your time writing articles or reviewing them at WP:FAC, WP:FLC, WP:GAN etc. Basically, try to make yourself useful and for crying out loud stop pissing people off. If you continue as you are, your time on the English Wikipedia will end in a very similar way as it did at the Swedish Wikipedia. If you need help, then by all means ask me. Why don't you find an article that interests you at WP:GAN and start reviewing it? I'll be more than happy to help you if it keeps you out of trouble. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 19:12, 31 August 2010 (UTC)

OK. But this time, they reacted on a single thing, which was not that serious. These issues may explain why I am blocked from the Swedish Wikipedia. "will end in a very similar way as it did at the Swedish Wikipedia" is what you've already said repeated times before, but thank you for repeating that sentence. /HeyMid (contributions) 19:34, 31 August 2010 (UTC)
If you make yourself useful and avoid getting into conflicts that don't concern you, there'l be no need to block you, but you need to listen to the advice people are giving you. I really don't want to see you blocked and I will do everything I possibly can to help you, but if you don't follow the advice you're being given by one respected editor after another, not even I can help you.
