section on CTIA Wireless Foundation[edit]

(Sorry, this will probably make your eyes cross but each citation has to support what is stated)

I am really eager to add this: well-worded and a positive section that has needed human interest: so:

  • #29: and 30: (no direct link between CTIA and American Red Cross: (WP:SYNTHESIS)
  • #31 is good and I can add it
  • #32: The American Red Cross uses texting as a way to raise funds for victims of disaster. The program, Text2Help is a partnership between wireless companies and and the Red Cross. (no direct statement linking CTIA with this. WP:Synthesis
Pulse Point
  • #33; I cannot find direct link stated
  • #34 says: The Fire Department CPR notification app has already garnered a number of honors, including CTIA-The Wireless Association 2011 VITA Wireless Samaritan Award

(nothing about 'major sponsor' supporter') (?) do you wish to reword or locate another source. The statement about the award is a very positive action for CTIA by itself and I wish to use it anyway)

text4baby
  • cannot find at all in ref #5
  • I can use #35 (good although primary source)

So to reiterate: we do not need a row of citations, so I can add paragraph one with ref # 31. I can add about text4baby with #35 (says CTIA is founding partner), Want to add about PulsePoint but reword for award and/or provide another source. Fylbecatulous talk 14:38, 14 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Fylbecatulous: Thank you for reviewing this proposed text.
  • Reference #29 says, "The American Red Cross uses texting as a way to raise funds for victims of disaster. The program, Text2Help is a partnership between wireless companies and and the Red Cross." This source is used as an additional inline citation to help support detail related to American Red Cross' relief efforts.
  • Reference #30 says, "The Wireless Foundation, a non-profit organization aligned with CTIA, partnered with the American Red Cross to create a text message system that would allow for donations in the immediate aftermath of that disaster." This seems like a helpful source to use as an inline citation in the "CTIA Wireless Foundation" section.
  • "CTIA" is mentioned five times in Reference #32, but if you don't feel the link is strong enough to use as an inline citation, no problem.
  • Reference #33 says, "CTIA Wireless Foundation is a key sponsor and advocate of PulsePoint, providing industry and financial support."
  • Regarding 'text4baby' and Reference #5: I went ahead and removed the inline citation from the draft. Previously, this URL mentioned 'text4baby', but looks like the page's content has been updated.
I hope this helps explain why I included these sources as inline citations, but of course please let me know if you have other questions. Inkian Jason (talk) 16:24, 14 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Resolution for section[edit]

  • Inkian Jason, regarding citation #33. mea culpa, of course the second time reading this evening; the exact text you copied is indeed within the article. Epic  Fail.
  • Regarding cite #32, true, there are five mentions that I wish stated absolutely that the foundation is a major sponsor, but I do like this quote: "The amount from text donations has been fairly astounding, quickly reaching $4 million to the American Red Cross by mid-day Thursday, after passing the $3 million mark early in the day, cellular telephone association officials at the CTIA confirmed. The CTIA is the biggest association representing wireless carriers in the U.S. as well as a number of wireless manufacturers around the globe." On the basis of this statement, there is enough closely related DNA that I am going to use it. Now having read the section and not finding even a glimpse of WP:PUFFERY I am going to add your text as written. Thank you for helping me resolve this section. Updated image[edit]

Good morning, Inkian Jason, looking ahead a bit, are you or anyone able to provide (upload) a newer image of Meredith Attwell Baker? The one in your draft is the same that will be seen when one clicks through to her article. It is from 2011 and not related to CTIA directly. As well, its status on Wikimedia Commons is tagged for lack of source and author. I envision one less portrait-like (actively engaged with CTIA or at least an announcement photo from her appointment in 2014) Whatever we use, it would be better placed directly beneath the infobox for style / format and currently you have a blank space beneath the infobox where it would fit nicely. The thumb format and caption would stay, of course. Thanks, Fylbecatulous talk 12:12, 17 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

adding: I was going to update section on 'description' next. Number six citation is a dead link (in the article and your draft) It would be nice to have updated, so the sentence is not solely supported with the primary source. Thanks, Fylbecatulous talk 13:03, 17 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Fylbecatulous: I've updated the URL slightly, so Reference #6 should work now, and I will definitely check about an updated image for Meredith Attwell Baker. Please let me know if you are still having difficulty viewing Reference #6. Thanks! Inkian Jason (talk) 14:34, 17 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

citation repairs for History section[edit]

(workspace for this editor: one source not specific unless subscribed; second source will support both statements: this is repair of missing url with combined reference name)

Tom Wheeler served as chief executive officer (CEO) of CTIA from 1992 to 2004.[1] He was appointed chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) by President Barack Obama and confirmed by the United States Senate in November 2013.[1]

I didn't think paywalled sources were problematic, but I have no problem with using this the Ars Technica source as an inline citation for both sentences. Thanks! Inkian Jason (talk) 15:30, 21 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sandbox for citation repair in 'Spectrum' section[edit]

In 2016, CTIA released reports outlining the importance of U.S. leadership in 5G and high band spectrum.[2][3] CTIA praised the FCC's unanimous vote in July 2016 to allow wireless operations above 24 GHz.[4]

@Fylbecatulous: I assume you are just using this as a work space, but let me know if you need me to help in any way. Thanks! Inkian Jason (talk) 19:28, 23 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Inkian Jason, greetings and true. As with the section above for citation repair... I decided to name this one 'sandbox'. Not wishing to intrude into your draft for strictly citation repair, reformat, I can work here and then copy and paste my corrected content into the article. I will very soon be completed. Article has a  Doing... template for the last bullet point. Sorry to disturb you; I have located the existing articles to repair myself unilaterally, but of course, being on your watchlist...Only remaining request is for another image to be placed in the article as requested above. It is a request and not a mandate; I shall close out this request by adding the one available in your draft. To amend it later is a simple matter. Thanks, Fylbecatulous talk 19:53, 23 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
No need to apologize, and thanks for fixing the citation! Inkian Jason (talk) 19:58, 23 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
