Please Allow Change
I've noticed that you've made a large amount of reverts on several different articles. As a heads up, Wikipedia is about allowing change and letting others share their knowledge. It's OK for the articles to change. Not every edit is an act of vandalism. However, I'm almost considering what you're doing vandalism. Please don't revert every edit somebody makes unless it's absolutely necessary. You don't know how it might affect somebody who's trying to help. I've seen you revert something and then say "removed nonsense", but life is full of nonsense. Sometimes something that sounds like it's nonsense actually is the truth. My point is, by reverting everybody's edits, they might get a large decrease in confidence, and that can seriously hurt the Wikipedia community. History and time are always changing, so not all change to the articles are vandalism.
- Hi there GTAVmaster, and welcome to Wikipedia. In response to your comment, most of the reverts I make are to revert vandalism or sockpuppets. The others are controversial changes that should be discussed prior to making those changes.
- I went back to October 2013, and between then and now I have used 'rvt nonsense' in my edit summary five times. Out of those uses, four of them (1, 2, 3, 4) were used while reverting vandalism and the last one (5) was an edit that did absolutely nothing to improve the encyclopedia. Wikipedia is an ever-evolving project. Change will happen, and most of that change is good. Some of the change, such as the edits I just linked, degrades the project and should be proptly reverted. If you are offended by a specific revert I have made, please link the diff to me and I would be happy to discuss it with you. If you can't link me to a specific revision, then I see no need to change my pattern at present, but I thank you for your concern. Ishdarian 02:09, 24 July 2014 (UTC)
July 2014
Your recent editing history at Template:Missing information shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.
To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. - Thanks Dwpaul, but my reverts are exempted per WP:3RR: Reverting actions performed by banned users, and sockpuppets of banned and blocked users.. Ishdarian 04:35, 29 July 2014 (UTC)
- Fair enough. Is see the other editor has now been blocked. Not knowing the circumstances, I figured I'd notice you both on the principle of "Caedite eos. Novit enim Dominus qui sunt eius". ;-) Dwpaul Talk 04:42, 29 July 2014 (UTC)
- Ha, works for me! Ishdarian 04:43, 29 July 2014 (UTC)
Your edits on Wikipedia page from May
Hello Ishdarian; The user who you had some interaction with on the Wikipedia page last May (User:Big...) is returning again. Could you glance at the recent edits? LawrencePrincipe (talk) 03:55, 30 July 2014 (UTC)
- I peeked at it real quick. It looks like he's trying to force something into that lead that should be discussed first. Maybe try engaging him on his talk page? Ishdarian 04:05, 30 July 2014 (UTC)
- I've abridged the edit that user made to the Lead section so lets wait to see what happens. Also, I noticed that someone else is requesting that the "Hardware operations" section there be updated based on the Ashburn footnotes in that section. It needs someone with enough know-how about hardware, is it something you have knowledge about that might help when/if time allows? LawrencePrincipe (talk) 08:51, 30 July 2014 (UTC)
