RE: Coincidence
[edit]Hahahaha. Well, part of it is coincidence, part isn't. Devils related stuff, we're both Devils fans so that's coincidental I'm assuming. Your highschool and college I got from your userpage (look higher up on my talk page, we've talked very briefly before and I see you from time to time on hockey-related articles so I decided to look at your userpage). Christopher Titus is a total coincidence though, I decided to look at his article after I saw one of his stand-up shows on Comedy Central (for about the 50th time). And what's the random article you created that I worked on? I'm sure I got that one from your userpage, as well. BsroiaadnTalk 02:41, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
- We probably did see the same one, and yea that's on your page so that's probably where I got it from. I've had a bit of a weird almost stalkerish kinda thing with this guy, though. He's edited some of my sub-pages, ones that there are no links to anywhere at all. He even has a link to my userpage on his, as well as links to other peoples userpages and some articles...I have no idea who this guy is. And about the Devils article, oh man...that's A LOT of translating. At least it's helping your Italian, though. The Italian article definitely needed updating, half of the edits on it are bot edits. For general manager, best-of-seven, etc. if you can't think of a way to translate them, maybe you should just leave it in English and put quotes around it or something? Maybe even make little articles for best-of-seven and conference finals, maybe by themselves it wouldn't mean anything in Italian, but I'm sure there's a way to at least explain it in a whole article. BsroiaadnTalk 18:09, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
- Hmmmm...well I hope he's not autistic..I'd feel kinda bad if he was (I'm assuming it's a male). At first I kinda just figured it was some vandal that I warned a lot that was trying to get some kicks out of it or something, but then I just had no idea what was going on. And I don't know much about soccer, but I'm sure you could use it to help explain certain things since Soccer seems to be the most popular sport in nearly every country (excluding North America). Hahahaha, that would be kinda cool. Still proud of everyone that contributed to the English New Jersey Devils article for getting it to featured status (unfortunately I'm not one of them, I came here afterwards). And I was actually thinking of re-doing the list of New Jersey Devils players, I want to get that to Featured-list status. It's gonna be a lot of work, so I'm sure I'll be asking some people for help. Haha. I'm probably going to get started on it tomorrow, maybe tonight. BsroiaadnTalk 21:54, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
- I've already started on it, I have the actual chart itself done...now just to insert all the stats. As well as separate the skaters from the goalies, it's going to be very similar (more like exactly like unless I/we can think of some extra things to put in) List of Colorado Avalanche players. The pictures may be the only thing that keeps it from becoming FL. :-/ Some of the Devils players do have pictures of them while on the Devils, a majority of them have them while on another team...so it might not be too bad. Any suggestions of things I should add to the chart? Without them, it'll be like the Colorado one I wikilinked to above. BsroiaadnTalk 23:27, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
- Yea, that sounds good. If you do happen to think of anything extraordinary, don't be afraid to say it, though. About the pics, if they were/are career-Devils, it'll be pretty hard to find pics of them...but if they've played on any other team, the chances of having pictures of them increases by about 90% for some reason...ok, maybe I'm exaggerating a little bit, but you know what I mean. BsroiaadnTalk 06:17, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry, forgot to tell you, I read it then finished goalies and kept going. Anyway, I've finished splitting up the goalies and skaters (although some names I haven't confirmed what position they play yet, but that'll be an easy fix later when one of us checks their articles..I was just trying to get through all the ones here first which I don't think they've added the 06-07 players to that yet for some reason.) I finished the nationalities, seasons, and putting the surname-first for all the goalies, but nothing else yet. And for the skaters all I've done was all their positions. Feel free to edit whatever you wanna edit, I need to take a needed nap (I got no sleep last night, result of wikipedia/hot house/cats/dogs...ya know) so don't worry about any edit conflicts. There's a references at the bottom for seasons and stats, but they only add up the regular season stats. The playoff stats we'll have to get the sums of by ourselves, I guess. Ok, I'll stop rambling now before it gets too long. I'm sure you know where the article is, but for convenience, it's here BsroiaadnTalk 18:29, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

Monte Ne
[edit]Hi, you posted an opinion in a previous FA nomination page for the Monte Ne article. Since then the article has gone through considerable revision. Would you mind please taking a look at it at the article once more and leaving a new comment in the new FA nomination that is going on right now. Thank you. --The_stuart 22:05, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
Re: Stats
[edit]Yes, shutouts are definitely a better stat to show rather than points. And ok, so endash for the years and emdash for the players that didn't get their name on the cup while on the Devils. Goalie stats are completely done, correct? And yes, that will help a lot with highlighting the skaters, thanks. Breakdown how? Split the chart or do you mean I do some then you do some and so on? And alright, I'll do that, I doubt I'll have much trouble figuring it out (if my HTML experience will help at all, that is). I'll do 20 skaters between each....top thing..so it's consistent. And yea, if they haven't played a game with the Devils then they shouldn't be in there, I just hadn't gotten a chance to go through and check for all of them. Hahahaha, don't worry about wikipedia while you're in Boston, dude...that'd be a total buzz-kill. Have fun. And also don't worry about it on your way to California. Re:Done
[edit]Yea, I finished the second-to-last section right before you left that message. I'm doing the last piece now. I'll tell you when I've finished it. While I'm doing that ummm...I guess go through the articles and look for more images. Ok, just read your second comment. Hmmmm...I guess we should just try it without the images, then. When I'm done should I just paste it onto List of New Jersey Devils players immediately? BsroiaadnTalk 19:28, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
- Also, something I've run into a couple times. For people that were born in now-defunct countries such as the USSR or Czechoslovakia, should I put "USSR" in the flagicon template...or whatever country it would be if they were born today? BsroiaadnTalk 19:36, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
- Well, I was over looking it quickly and noticed that it had "1990-1998" or something like that for Ken Daneyko, so maybe we should go over the seasons again. And I don't know about Steve Thomas, on hockeyDB they said he was born in the UK so I just went by that, but his article on Wikipedia made it seem like he was raised in Canada..I'm not sure which to put..should we go with Canadian? Yea, we should add the L's, T's, and OTL's, but wouldn't OTL's go better in the time section? Even though you can find things that may include them pre-lockout...most people didn't care about them them until post-lockout...so maybe we should just do it like that..this way it'd match the player articles. And yea, I'll add the template to the bottom right now. BsroiaadnTalk 21:26, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
- Hahahaha, yes, I meant tie. Yea, let's just give it it's own column, then. I forgot we weren't listing season-by-seasons for a second, haha. Make sure to add the note that ties are only before the lockout since they can't happen anymore. Just to let you know, I'm leaving at 6 and I don't know when I'll be back on, it'll probably end up being like 11 at the earliest. So if you need to tell me anything while I'm gone just tell me and put it in detail if needed so I know what to do since you'll leave for Boston tomorrow. BsroiaadnTalk 21:39, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
- Alright, well, I think this'll be my last question for now since it's mostly done and I don't know a lot about wikitables, but I figured out HTML by playing around with it..I'll just do the same thing with wikitables. Anyway, how do you think we should put it? GP|W|L|SO|T|OTL|GAA|SV%? And we're not doing OTL or T for the playoffs, but what about L for the playoffs? BsroiaadnTalk 21:52, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

Finally
[edit]Finally, it's done. Take a look, tell me if you see anything wrong still...but I went over the whole article double-checking every stat and everything..I don't see how it could be anything less than perfect. Think it's ready to be put up at featured list candidates? I realize you won't have much, if any, computer access until about Sunday as you're on your way to Cali right now, just wanted to make sure you knew I finished it. BsroiaadnTalk 12:13, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
- Alright, I put it up here. I hope I did the nom well, I followed the directions. Haha. BsroiaadnTalk 14:02, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

How was Cali and Boston
[edit]Or should I say how is Cali and how was Boston? I don't know if you're still in Cali or not. Anyway, I recently finished (although FutureNJGov started it, I did most of the table, references, and notes and he did the lead...he's better than me at those...he was busy doing other stuff so I finished the table) Head Coaches of the New Jersey Devils, what do you think? The original plan between FutureNJGov and I was to get it to FLC, you think I should try it out? And if you think it's worth trying, would it look a little odd for me to have 2 self-noms in FLC? I haven't gotten past the 10-day minimum for List of New Jersey Devils players to pass yet, it has all the support it needs..it's just waiting for the ten days to be over, now. BsroiaadnTalk 00:56, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- That's cool man, good luck with the summer classes...you gonna do a lot of partying before it starts? (and possible during? haha). And alright, I'll take care of those redlinks, although I'm not sure where I would go to see what teams an assistant coach has been on...a head coach is one thing..but assistant coach...hmmm...I guess I'll be doing a lot of googling. Haha. I'm probably gonna do two more lists (players lists again) before I work on something else...but I'm not sure what I'm going to work on afterwards...my real foal is to make a featured article, but that's a lot more work and I'm not sure I have the writing skills to do it, at least not by myself. And I added notes to Robinson and Ftorek, I hope I understood what kind of notes you wanted me to add. And did you really? What was it like? BsroiaadnTalk 02:10, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- And he wasn't an assistant in 03, he was head in early 02, then went to assistant and by the middle of 2002 he left. BsroiaadnTalk 02:13, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- Lacrosse seems to have gotten very popular lately. But, I've never played it. I suppose I would try it if I got the chance to. That's pretty cool that he coached some of your practices, though. By the way, do you think I should add a nationalities column to the list of head coaches? BsroiaadnTalk 03:23, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- Ok, I'll get to adding the nationalities after the redlinks are done. And, actually, I was thinking about the same thing...I came close to moving the page but decided at the last minute that I'd like another opinion and forgot to ask. I just now moved it to List of New Jersey Devils head coaches. I'm really not sure who decided to name it that way. BsroiaadnTalk 03:48, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- And, yea, we probably should change them all, but that might spark controversy. Maybe we should bring it up at the wikiproject ice hockey talk page? BsroiaadnTalk 03:50, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- How should we bring it up though? I really have no idea what I should say to start it off, I might have an idea if I wasn't as tired as I am right now. I doubt they'll disagree, but I can't think of how to start it. BsroiaadnTalk 04:02, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- I put something in there quickly, I'll probably expand on it tomorrow. For now, I'm going to sleep. Haha. I got rid of all the redlinks for the coaches, by the way. Now just have to do the nationalities. If you have any other ideas for the coaches (or if I'm forgetting some we've mentioned) feel free to tell me about them. BsroiaadnTalk 04:39, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

FLC comment addressal
[edit]First, thanks a lot for taking time to reviewing the FLC of 2007 Cricket World Cup statistics. It is great to receive non-cricket fan's perspective as we might miss the nuances on certain things as take them for granted. I have made additions, in terms of either wikilink addition or reference notes addition for the terms you were looking for. Please review if it helped and in case of any further question, please feel free to make a note on the FLC page. --Kalyan 16:42, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

New Jersey Devils
[edit]My edit comment was a bit of a tongue-in-cheek reference to User:GoodDay's position of ignoring diacritics (sorry I spelled it wrong it the summary) in team articles. GoodDay has at times been very expressive of his position and to follow a gentleman's agreement of their use at Wikipedia:Wikiproject Ice Hockey (which has recently become policy). The policy is:
All 30 NHL team pages: Should be without diacritics. Wiki-linked names should have diacritics hidden.
All Player pages: Should have diacritics applied (where required).
Sorry of any confusion I may have caused. Michael Greiner 03:59, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
Season FA
[edit]I think it would be a little difficult to bring a season up to FA quality, maybe not impossible...but difficult. I suppose we could make an attempt at it, though I'm not sure what would be said. I think the New Jersey Devils article has enough in it for the seasons that we wouldn't need to bring any season articles up to FA, anyway. If anything I was thinking we could try to get another player up to FA, just to have another FA-article, but I couldn't decide on who. We should get all the seasons articles created and such before we attempt to get any more players up to FA, if we even decide to attempt that. BsroiaadnTalk 00:13, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
List of KCS players
[edit]Hahaha, actually I've already done the whole list....only about 50 people had ever played on the Kansas City Scouts so that was easy to finish, I think I did it all within a couple hours. I figured I seem to be pretty good at lists, so why not cover some lists of players from the Devils...before they were the Devils? Haha. Next I was gonna do the players for the Colorado Rockies (NHL) but I figure I'll help get the Devils to be a featured topic and then work on it. I really want to get something to FA, though....for some reason I was thinking of trying one of a couple different people. Either Ken Daneyko, Patrik Elias, or John Madden (ice hockey). Don't ask me why, but I do like Madden a lot....but I doubt there is much on him. Daneyko probably has some stuff on him, but probably not that much either, and Elias' references are probably mostly in Czech. Other than Brodeur, it seems not many people are interested in covering Devils players in the news or in books for some reason. I'll try anyway, but I'm not sure which one I'm going to try. And about the sig, haha yea. Good that your flattered, and I feel cool that you got the (disc) idea from me. lol. BsroiaadnTalk 06:05, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
- See, I've thought about that many-a-time...and sometimes I'm interested in it, other times I'm not. Patrik Elias I'm always interested in bringing to FA, and I figure it'd be better to do one I'm always interested in doing. Though I'm sure Scott Stevens has many places with information about him and even though I'd rather Patrik, I'd love to bring Scott to FA as well. He was pretty (in)famous...especially for his hits...that's one thing that gained him a lot of notability. Plus, all the Devils fans liked him a lot. BsroiaadnTalk 06:29, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

I've thought about it, and I've changed my decision. I decided to start re-writing the Scott Stevens article, though it's in my sandbox. You can make edits to it if you want, I haven't been making many...mostly small changes....haven't quite read many articles on him lately, so I'm gonna do that first before I start making major edits. But, like I said, feel free to add (or remove) stuff yourself. By the way, I left the categories and stuff at the bottom and just put the <nowiki> tags around it so it wouldn't show up in the categories. BsroiaadnTalk 20:22, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

BE/AE
[edit]Are you sure about "canceled vs cancelled"? I looked it up in the MW and OED (unabridged online versions - my office subscribes to both). MW lists both, OED lists only "cancelled". The Firefox spell checker doesn't like "cancelled" (set for AE).

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Entourage ep320.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Entourage ep320.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 02:24, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

Hey, I don't know how busy you are or if you've got time, but if you are available, could you take a look at the Scott Stevens article? I've put it up for peer review, and I'm sure most of the article is acceptable, but the lead sucks, and I've never been good at writing the lead. I'd like to put it up for GA nomination sometime this week or next, and the lead is the only thing holding it back. If you don't have time, it's not a huge deal. Economics
[edit]Well your brother will be disappointed to read that our city council is busily inserting traffic lights in all sorts of inconvenient places! My interest in economics is very superficial - my user name is a pun on the two economists who had nothing whatever to do with Milton Keynes (except J M Keynes is a decendant of the de Cahaigne family that helped themselves to this area after the Norman Conquest).
But speaking of economics, could you have a look at Fiat money because it badly needs expert attention. --John Maynard Friedman (talk) 16:44, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

Project News | Article Alerts
The Reboot of Wikiproject New Jersey has certainly stirred up some new activity at the project. Discussion on several improvements and new initiatives have been going on at the talk page. There has been an involved discussion regarding our 125 unassessed articles, especially those on municipalities. The current goal is to review and assess all 566 New Jersey muncipality articles by September 30. A suggestion has been made to intiate Wikipedia Takes New Jersey to begin clearing the large backlog of articles needing photos. Let's all grab our cameras and head out into the vast wilds of the Garden State. Town Halls, High Schools, Historic Places - every article deserves a picture. |

New Jersey Collaboration news | New WPNJ members
WPNJ member Mm40 has volunteered to coordinate a new WPNJ Collaboration project. It's been a while since we used the NJCOTW and new volunteers are needed. Join the discussion to volunteer.
Battle of Trenton was recently proposed as a Featured Article candidate. It was not promoted, but has now been nominated for A-Class review through the Military History WikiProject. Take a look at their A-Class FAQ. As we need to set up our own process for reviewing A-Class articles, it may be worth watching the process. |

Reboot progress report | Help Wanted
The redesign has been well received. There are still some things left to do. This newsletter was one big check mark off the list. Hopefully this can be continued on a regular basis. There are literally thousands of articles in Category:New Jersey that have not been tagged as part of the project, and stub sorting hasn't been run in 10 months. We will need to identify some friendly bot operators to help with these projects. An outreach department (which includes the newsletter) needs to be formalized. Creating an invitation template for easy placement on userpages will also be part of that effort.
There are lots of best practices described at the WikiProject Council with ideas of how to make our project more responsive, welcoming, active, and effective. Task forces? Peer review? Other ideas welcome! |
| ||
Editor's Notes | |||
I just wanted to say that the response to my bold makeover of WPNJ has been gratifying, but nothing will improve the project as much as more activity, and that means more members. There are lots of things to do in this new setup, and everyone with an interest should be able to find a way to contribute to the collaboration. I want to thank you all for the patience, the appreciation, and the effort. - Jim Miller

German/English
[edit]Hi JHMM13! I´ve read your german user page and it´s really nice. You don´t have to feel sorry fell for it.
One question: I´m highly interested in moving to the US after finishing school and I ask me if I will be able to speak english on native level later when living there. Luckily I´m already speaking english with strong american accent which will probably be a huge help. My skills are at the moment between fluent and near-native level I believe. Will it be possible for me to manage that?
I´m looking forward to your conclusion!

The Maryland WikiProject has put together a great chart comparing the growth of several state WikiProjects, including WPNJ. Take a look at the chart to see how the growth of WPNJ compares to some of our peer projects. Please remember to place the {{WikiProject New Jersey}} tag on the talk pages of any New Jersey related articles you create or come across. You can also add the new articles page to your watchlist. Some updates have been made to the NJ Portal, but much more needs to be done. If a few volunteers can put together Featured Article summmaries, we can automate rotating the portal content. The same can be done for DYK items. Please take a look and see if you can assist. |

Wikipedia Release version 0.7 | New WPNJ members
The Wikipedia 0.7 project team has chosen the New Jersey related articles that will be included in the next downloadable version of Wikipedia. You can review the list of selected WPNJ articles, check the articles tagged for cleanup, or nominate additional articles for inclusion.
Selection is an automated process based on article assessments. To help avoid vandalism and POV concerns, specific versions of articles can be tagged for inclusion in the downloadable release. See the New Jersey section of the bot results to recommend a production version. The process ends on October 20, and then a bot will select an appropriate version if none has been recommended. |

Both Jon Corzine and The Sopranos were promoted to Good Article status in the past month. No WikiProject New Jersey articles were promoted to Featured article status. Battle of Trenton was not listed as a Featured Article, and may need more editors to complete the remaining work to be promoted. Also, in an item that was missed last month, Thomas Edison was delisted as a Good Article in July.
The WPNJ Assessment Drive is ongoing. Please help assess all of the articles about places in New Jersey. There are currently 125 articles that have not been assessed. |

Fall has arrived, and with it will come a rush of new Wikipedians. Inviting new editors to join WPNJ is easy to do, and can help us improve our New Jersey articles. Keep an eye out for editors who work on NJ articles who can help the project. The Wikipedia Release version project is in its final stages for the next version. Take a look at the article lists, cleanup where you can, and nominate articles that should be included on the DVD version of WP. Education Task Force - The conversion of the former WikiProject Education is New Jersey has been completed. New Jersey education-related articles are now supported by the Education task force. The project banner has been updated to fully support the task force with independent importance ratings. No More Comments - A proposal at the Village Pump has resulted in the deprecation of comments subpages. These were usually found at Talk:Article title/Comments and contained little more than assessment notes. These pages were not widely watched, and are often a hidden location for vandalism and BLP violations. WPNJ has 104 articles that used these pages. A complete list of them, along with their contents, can be viewed at Wikipedia:WikiProject New Jersey/Deprecation of comments. It is up to the members of WPNJ to decide what to do with this information. |

Municipality template compromise; School Districts (almost) complete | New WPNJ members
Legislative templates in municipal articles - A rather lengthy discussion ran from the end of August until the end of October regarding the use of our legislative district templates in articles about local municipalities. Many WPNJ members commented on the concept, and a proposed compromise seems to have been reached. The templates will require some adjustments to fit the new wording, but should result in more directly relevant sections about County, State, and Federal representation in our articles on cities, towns, villages, townships, and boroughs. Hopefully, more dicussions like this can result is some kind of Manual of Style to bring greater standardization to all of these articles. School District articles now comprehensive - WPNJ Founder Alansohn recently reported that almost all of New Jersey's school districts now have articles - "I have created the article for the last missing (non-vocational) school district in the state." Congrats to Alansohn, who I am sure would love more members at the Education task force to help maintain these articles! |

Things have picked up again over the last few months, so once more into the breech I go. Running for Local Election
[edit]JHMM13,
I was looking at some of the pages you have worked on and thought that the following might interest you.
I am currently working on a project online with a few friends that strives to empower common people who wish to run for local office. We hope to provide a resource that might enable people to realize that anyone can run and contribute. We are an assortment of passionate individuals who wish to help demystify the process.
I was hoping that you might be able to provide some advice. I am currently working on identifying a number of things (1) what questions we must ask and answer, (2) what resources are currently available, (3) individuals experienced in the various realms (funding, legal, marketing, building a campaign team) that might provide some insight, and (4) success stories from common people who have successfully run for local office.
I am aware that you don't focus on this but you have touched on a number of these topics and felt you could provide some insight. Any advice, recommendations, or guidance will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Unreferenced BLPs
[edit]Hello JHMM13! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 3 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

New Statistics Table There has been an upgrade to the WP 1.0 bot that updates our project's summary table. The new table lists all page classes including Portal-class, Redirect-class, and Disambig-class. We now have a better picture of the scope of the WikiProject and the pages that we cover. New York Times to charge for access The New York Times is an invaluable resource for properly referencing articles, but especially due to its extensive archives and coverage of New Jersey issues. The announcement that metered content will be started in 2011 has the potential to make article sourcing much more difficult. It also causes a need to update linked sources in articles before all of the NYT links go dead. Any link can be archived on demand by using WebCite. We can help avoid dead links by archiving any article sources from the NYT. |

All articles that are in both Category:People from New Jersey and Category:All unreferenced BLPs are now available on this work list. These articles need to be sourced, PRODded, or sent to AfD. An ounce of prevention Unreferenced BLPs are one of the catgories regularly listed in the WPNJ Cleanup listing. New articles are also a prime location to find articles that do not yet have references. You can keep an eye on the New Articles list to help prevent the workload from getting any larger. [edit]Hiya,
I just wanted to let you know that I changed a little bit of the "a fan or graduate of Wake Forest definitely wrote this part" flowery language to more neutral, encyclopedic language, and also, I think the "Memorable Mascots" sections should be removed outright. It's unsourced, but also, seems like it would be pretty impossible TO source, at least with online references. For example, I did a Google search for "Chet Kushman" "Wake Forest," and all the results returned your sentence about him. So then I added "-moniker" to the search, and that obliterated all the results except for two that translate Wikipedia into other languages. You've been an editor for ten years so you know the deal. But I thought I'd give you a chance to add a source before I removed it. Mreleganza (talk) 17:22, 8 September 2015 (UTC)
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. Can you help verify translations of articles from German
[edit]Hello JHMM13,
Would you be able to help evaluate the accuracy of translations of Wikipedia articles from German to English Wikipedia?
This would involve evaluating a translated article on the English Wikipedia by comparing it to the original German article, and marking it "Pass" or "Fail" based on whether the translation faithfully represents the original. Here's the reason for this request:
There are a number of articles on English Wikipedia that were created as machine translations from different languages including German , using the Content Translation tool, sometimes by users with no knowledge of the source language. The config problem that allowed this to happen has since been fixed, but this has left us with a backlog of articles whose accuracy of translation is suspect or unknown, including some articles translated from German. In many cases, other editors have come forward later to copyedit and fix any English grammar or style issues, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the translation is accurate, as factual errors from the original translation may remain. To put it another way: Good English is not the same as good translation.
If you can help out, that would be great. Here's a sample of the articles that need checking:
All you have to do, is compare the English article to the German article, and assess them "Pass" or "Fail" (the {{Pass}} and {{Fail}} templates may be useful here). (Naturally, if you feel like fixing an inaccurate translation and then assessing it, that's even better, but it isn't required.) Also please note that we are assessing accuracy not completeness, so if the English article is much shorter that is okay, as long as whatever has been translated so far is factually accurate.
If you can help, please {{ping}} me here to let me know. You can add your pass/fails above, right next to each link, or you may indicate your results below. Thanks! Mathglot (talk) 06:42, 11 June 2017 (UTC)

[edit]ArbCom 2021 Elections voter message
[edit]Hi JHMM13, thanks for the notification of your mothers passing via the deceased template. It would be nice to highlight your mother's unique contributions to Wikipedia. I thought about adding an entry to Wikipedia:Deceased Wikipedians/2023. As her son and Wikipedia editor, you might be better to write a paragraph or so, or some key facts and online obit if appropriate. The wiki obits can make their way into WP:SIGNPOST for example Wikipedia:Wikipedia_Signpost/2023-08-01/Obituary. If you prefer not that is fine also! Or User:JPxG might offer to help, he is a great writer and copyeditor. -- GreenC 16:04, 13 August 2023 (UTC)
