We were just discussing this image on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions and we believe it should probably be public domain. The owner of says-it.com shares this view. Please consider amending the licence. Computerjoe's talk 18:19, 23 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia has a strict copyright policy. You claimed the image was licensed under the GFDL, but I was not sure if a) it was already copyrighted and b) if you could copyright something derived from the public domain. Uploading images not in line with the copyright policy damages how free Wikipedia is. You may also want to read WP:CIVIL Computerjoe's talk 08:24, 22 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Says-it.com confirmed to me it was alright for you to use it, but for some reason the decision was still made to get rid of it (not by me, I still merely brought it up). Keep using Wikipedia, though! Some policies are a pain in the ar*e but you'll eventually understand. At any rate, it's better to be bold, hope I didn't put you off. Computerjoe's talk 23:23, 23 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Geo-stub on talk page

[edit]

Hi JJ cool D. I hope you don't mind that I subst'ed the stub template on your talk page and removed the category link; I did this so that your page doesn't turn up in a category of articles for editors to expand (only articles are supposed to be stubs). Grutness...wha? 23:54, 25 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Request to participate in University of Washington survey on tool to quickly understand Wikipedians’ reputations

[edit]

Hello. I'm part of a research group at the University of Washington. In April, we met with Wikipedians to learn what they would like to know about other editors’ history and activities (within Wikipedia) when interacting with them on talk pages. The goal was to gather feedback to help design a tool that could quickly communicate useful information about other Wikipedians. We have now created a few images that we feel represent some of what our participants thought was important. We would appreciate it if you took a few minutes of your time to complete an online survey that investigates whether or not these images would be useful to you. Your quick contribution would be very valuable to our research group and ultimately to Wikipedia. (When finished, the code for this application will be given over to the Wikipedia community to use and/or adjust as they see fit.)

We are particularly interested in feedback from new editors! We want to make sure this tool meets your needs.

Willing to spend a few minutes taking our survey? Click this link.

Please feel free to share the link with other Wikipedians. The more feedback, the better! The survey is completely anonymous and takes less than 10 minutes to complete. All data is used for university research purposes only.

Thank you for your time! If you have any questions about our research or research group, please visit our user page. Commprac01 (talk) 23:19, 12 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
