Your username

[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia!

I hope not to seem unfriendly or make you feel unwelcome, but I noticed your username, and I am concerned that it might not meet Wikipedia's username policy; particularly the part about having usernames that are too similar to those of established users. I'm sure you've heard of Wikipedia's founder, Jimmy Wales, who goes by User:Jimbo Wales around here. I'm a little concerned that people might mistake you for him.

I'd appreciate learning your own views; for instance, your reasons for wanting this particular name, and what alternative username you might accept that avoids raising this concern.

You have several options freely available to you:

  • If you can relieve my concern through discussing it here, I can stop worrying about it.
  • If the two of us can't agree here, we can ask for help through Wikipedia's dispute resolution process, such as requesting comments from other Wikipedians. Wikipedia administrators usually abide by agreements reached through this process.
  • You can keep your contributions history under a new username. Visit Wikipedia:Changing username and follow the guidelines there.

Thank you. GlassCobra 01:33, 28 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I appreciate the note that you put on your user page, but it doesn't really alleviate my concerns about your name. I'm going to go bring up your name at WP:RFCN, okay? Please feel free to add your thoughts there. GlassCobra 00:43, 29 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your username is allowed

[edit]

Hello, JimboV1. While there had been some discussion here about whether your username met Wikipedia policy on what usernames editors can use, the result was to allow it, and that discussion has now been closed. If you would like to see what concerns were raised, you can find a link to the discussion in the archive. You do not need to change your username. Thank you.

I hope you will enjoy contributing to Wikipedia despite all this fuss about your username. In my opinion, it should never have been reported in the first place. Nimman 13:30, 30 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Great to hear that. :) JimboV1 10:41, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Mabel (band)

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Mabel (band), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? -- lucasbfr talk 19:51, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Team navboxes

[edit]

I like the idea you have to standardise the team navboxes. I am slightly concerned about how big they are but they are collapsed by default, right? Anyway, all I really wanted to ask was why you are putting "Conference: None" in the league affiliations section. In fact, is the league affiliations section needed at all? On what page are these navboxes used that a link to Canadian Football League or Canadian Football League West Division is helpful? Thanks, DoubleBlue (talk) 04:12, 18 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Pete Lesperance

[edit]

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Pete Lesperance. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Pete Lesperance. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:07, 18 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You are now a Reviewer

[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 04:28, 16 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Removing days of the week

[edit]

Hi James,

I noticed that you have removed the days of the week from 2010 CFL individual teams' pages. I filled out the schedules prior to the season and I do not understand why you would remove them, nor did you leave a reason as to why you did it. Both CFL.ca and TSN.ca include days of the week on their schedules pages, so I think it would be prudent to include them on wikipedia's pages as well.

Additionally, when you are filling out the game results, include the attendances, which are located within the game recap articles on CFL.ca and TSN.ca.

Thanks, Cmm3 (talk) 04:09, 21 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there,
Yeah, I did undo the days of the week from the CFL teams' pages. I removed them from the Lions and Blue Bombers pages months ago though. The reason I did this was because I didn't think there was any point for them to be included. Also, other teams from other sports didn't include the days of the week (e. 2010 Toronto Blue Jays season, 2009–10 Toronto Raptors season, etc...). I just think the month and day is all you really need, but I guess it doesn't really matter, we can use the days of the week aswell.
And yes, I do think about the attendence when filling out game results, but I didn't know where to find them, and it's not that easy for me to get all that kind of info for team season pages that took place before 2005. JimV1 (talk) 05:37, 21 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The way I see it is, the more information, the better. It's interesting to see how many Friday games a team plays, or if they got stuck with a bunch of Thursday games, etc. For baseball, hockey and basketball it would probably be very tedious based on the number of games that they play. And then almost all NFL games are played on Sundays, so that's pointless too. I think it suits the good ol' CFL well.
As for attendances, I was referring to very recent games, but if you're going for historical info (pre-2005), check out this website: THE PRO FOOTBALL ARCHIVES. It has CFL schedules from 1946 to 2008 and is a goldmine for information. Cmm3 (talk) 06:34, 23 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I guess it makes sence. Since the CFL doesn't play all their games on one particular day of the week. And thanks the website, I got all my information from here, but all it gives is just games and results. JimV1 (talk) 21:55, 25 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Jungle Jim's Eatery has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Article is about a restaurant chain with no significant coverage in reliable sources. A search for reliable sources turned up this item which is not significant coverage and falls into the category of routine coverage of a franchise opening per WP:CORPDEPTH.
