Request reason:

I was upset that the other user was blocking factual content about the current situation regarding the article's subject, and felt that constant edits back and forth was a way to bring attention to this current event article. If you look at my edit history, I always simply edit typos and minor factual changes. I won't activist edit again. Additionally, I was blocked late at night without any opportunity to discuss the block, something the other participant in the edit war was allowed to discuss. JohnA (talk) 05:09, 13 June 2020 (UTC)

Decline reason:

I am declining your unblock request because it does not address the reason for your block, or because it is inadequate for other reasons. To be unblocked, you must convince the reviewing administrator(s) that

  • the block is not necessary to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, or
  • the block is no longer necessary because you
    1. understand what you have been blocked for,
    2. will not continue to cause damage or disruption, and
    3. will make useful contributions instead.

Please read the guide to appealing blocks for more information. --Deep fried okra (schalte ein) 09:06, 14 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Wikipedia is a global project, with editors all over the world in different time zones or with different schedules that permit them to edit at any time desired. Why did you decide to edit war on this issue, and how will you avoid doing so in the future? 331dot (talk) 08:55, 13 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Honestly, things regarding the confederate flag and the celebration of the Confederate States of America and the associated systemic racism hit me close to home for very personal reasons. As for the future, if something hits me close to home, I'll take a breath, step away from Wikipedia, and come back with a cooler head. JohnA (talk) 00:23, 14 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Widr, what do you think? 331dot (talk) 00:27, 14 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
"Sissy", "snowflake", "get COVID-19 this weekend"? No, this is just nasty vandalism, which the babbling above doesn't even try to explain. I wouldn't be surprised if this account was compromised. Widr (talk) 00:43, 14 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • You win for now, but I promise to correct your past edits randomly in the future? Intrigued. That's a very impressive comment. You also changed the pronunciation of the subject's name in an unflattering manner. Might I suggest some sort of TBAN as an unblock condition? --Deep fried okra (schalte ein) 06:10, 14 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
So the situation is this. After a six month hiatus followed by a one year hiatus, you return to make a series of vandalistic edits on Ray Ciccarelli , and then the nastiness on another user's talk page. So upset about systemic racism is a reason for all this? Or is it a lame excuse? If no one minds, I'd just as soon decline this. I've seen personal anger or whatever used as an excuse to vandalize before, and it just doesn't wash. This is not an act of protest. It is not sticking it to "the man." It has zero effect on the injustices perpetrated in this country on a daily basis. It's just mean vandalism of someone else's hard work. --Deep fried okra (schalte ein) 06:25, 14 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
