Extra tildes ("~")

[edit]

You've been adding the four tildes to your edit summaries, unnecessarily as you can see here. Your user name is noted automatically on the edits, there. The place where you need to use the tildes (as correctly presented by JKlein above) is on talk pages like this one. I'll be putting the prescribed four at the end of this note. They're what then will translate into the time-marked "signature" on the note. ... Cheers and welcome! Swliv (talk) 17:50, 27 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

got it. thanks Jvol (talk) 00:21, 28 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

On the deleted-page problem, that is more involved. It's the more difficult because the normal links to other interested users are (often) deleted along with the page (though you seem to have seen some history or other). If you look at my User talk:Swliv/Archive01 you'll see some of what I've gone through on that general front (Security Industry; bit-something ...; oh, yeh, the "speedy delete" run here. Boy that one got my heart beating. (While the subject herself ... may seem "small" ... the subject of a GM bankruptcy at the time I was working on it ... felt cutting edge; as I may have said there.) Anyway, I'd look at your proposed subject if you'd like. There are more-senior editors who do from time to time help out; I noticed something to that effect at User:Obsidian Soul today; and have gotten bits of help myself along the way, though no "easy way" to recommend to you now. Keep at it one way or another. Did you appeal to the deleter? Query me again with specifics if you'd like. Good luck! Swliv (talk) 00:50, 28 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Information icon Hello, I'm Mlpearc Phone. I noticed that you made a change to an article, List of Star Trek: The Original Series episodes, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Star Trek

[edit]

I’ve reverted the changes you made on the Star Trek page based on your odd belief that the word “franchise” is somehow derogatory. If you wish to make those changes, I suggest you go to the talk page to get consensus. I have never heard anyone refer to that term in a negative way. November 2022

[edit]

Information icon Hi Jvol! I noticed that you have reverted to restore your preferred version of Star Trek several times. The impulse to undo an edit you disagree with is understandable, but I wanted to make sure you're aware that the edit warring policy disallows repeated reversions even if they are justifiable.

All editors are expected to discuss content disputes on article talk pages to try to reach consensus. If you are unable to agree at Talk:Star Trek, please use one of the dispute resolution options to seek input from others. Using this approach instead of reverting can help you avoid getting drawn into an edit war. Thank you. DonQuixote (talk) 04:43, 27 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
