The Barnstar of Good Humor
Awarded for the edit summary on this edit. I'm still laughing. J.delanoygabsadds 20:42, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Good humour? Would somebody check the envelope?! Man, thanks for the b'day gift... As fate would have it, J's status appears... I'm not usually a funnyman, but I gotta credit that comma-loving dude for my rv. Thanks for my making my day, and keep on clearing Wikipedia of vandalism! --Jw21/PenaltyKillahBDAY! 18:48, 7 March 2008 (PST)
Well, I have long held the opinion that no one here gives out barnstars as much as people probably deserve, so I decided to try to change that. I was really lol so I decided to give you the star. btw Happy late Birthday!!!!!! J.delanoygabsadds 17:45, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Chinese MP4 player

[edit]

An editor has nominated Chinese MP4 player, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Chinese MP4 player and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:59, 21 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for chipping in. I'd considered just redirecting the page, but I'd rather get some input. I hope we can keep on working on thins. Chris Cunningham (not at work) - talk 22:57, 21 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Digital Audio Player

[edit]

A product review of an Sony player that doesn't happen to play MP3s[1] is not proof of the assertions that MP3 is a 'universal format', and 'near-universally supported'. I've removed it twice now. Please quote the text in the article which you think lends support to that claim. Rcooley (talk) 02:45, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Userboxes Page Edits

[edit]

I apologize to you for my edits of your userbox page. There was obviously a misunderstanding. It seemed to me that it would be okay to add additional userboxes, since you had already a big list to various subjects. I didn't know that you created it all by yourself and hand-picked them. I saw that you already reverted my edits, so everything is back to where it was. I hope that you can forgive me my oversight. Cheers! --roy<sac> Talk! .oOo. 02:51, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

hi

[edit]

Yup I still exist. Havent edited in the last 2 weeks because of work (doncha hate when life gets in the way?) But I have been working on redoing and trying to standardized the articles associated with pages like Municipalities of Mexico State. I did all that existed a month or 2 ago in Municipalities of Oaxaca and have done most that exist in the Mexico State list. Ill get back to it seriously when the semester is over in a couple of weeks. Not only do I think it is worth doing in and of itself, I would like to have as many standardized examples in as many Mexican states as I can for next fall when I try to have students write town/municipality articles again. This past semester was a learning experience to say the least.

I have two teachers left in my Wikipedia writing class (teachers are a pain to teach...) User:Guillermo7777 and User:Filiberto022. Guillermo is working on two articles but neither are up yet. One is on the Mexican legal system (he is a lawyer) and the other is about the Mexican national team to the 2008 Olympics (basically a list of participants with short bios). Filiberto022 was working on a bio of John Rawls but there is an article about him already. He is writing one about a small town in the north of Mexico, cant remember the name. He has one other to write (free choice) but he has no idea what it will be about. They are supposed to turn in their final portfolios for grading on May 12th so I expect a frenzy of activity the week before that *sigh*. Anyway, if you, or anyone you can talk to wants to help these guys out, I would really appreciate it. Both seem a little lost and overwhelmed by all this. Helping hands would be really nice.Thelmadatter (talk) 13:11, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Clix 2 article reversion

[edit]

I reverted your iriver clix edit on the grounds that:

  • The links were relevant (a link to the manufacturer's product manual for example)
  • The {{{list}}} markup tag was broken.

According to the links guieline your removal of the link to the user forum was appropriate, but in this case I think it's inclusion is warrented. The clix is poorly documented by iriver and the clixhere forums are a valuable secondary source. If you remove it again you're within the guidelines and I won't object. It would be very nice for people seeking extra information if you left it in, however. — Clarknova (talk) 21:23, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That's swell and all that, but there is no way of knowing if the content on a message board forums is verifiable... and if it is even encyclopedic and informative (considering troubleshooting topics usually deal with a specific issue and solutions, not general specifications of the product). --Jw21/PenaltyKillahCANUCKLEHEAD! 21:39, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It's verifiable if you own the product, which I do. Generally the site is as accurate and more informative than iriver's. It deals with troubleshooting topics, yes, but also contains a large body of data about the product unavailable from the manufacturer. But that's fine. As I said, you're technically within the guidelines by removing that. Researchers can find it through Google.
However, there is no need to remove the link to the product manual. Although served by the clixhere forum it is the official manual that ships with the device (I just verified this with SHA1). An official manual is certainly encyclopedic and a belongs in an External Links section. — Clarknova (talk) 09:37, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. If the official iriver site hosts the manual too, I'll replace the link. --Jw21/PenaltyKillahCANUCKLEHEAD! 12:51, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Bertuzzimoorepunchsmall.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Bertuzzimoorepunchsmall.jpg. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have any questions, please post them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

Enemy Userbox

[edit]

In your userbox User:Jw21/deUBdomain/fight the real enemy, even though it has the Antichrist as the enemy, there is an offensive aspect. The antichrist is shown as the pope. Which is like saying the pope is the enemy which is offensive to Catholics. AAU reminder notice

A friendly reminder from the Adopt-a-User project =)
Hey there Jw21! This is a friendly reminder to update your status at Wikipedia:Adopt-a-User/Adoptee's Area/Adopters whenever it is appropriate in order to provide new users with the most up-to-date information on available adopters. Also please note that we will be removing adopters who have not edited in 60 days. If you become active again (and we hope you do!) please feel free to re-add yourself. Cheers!

Archos Page

[edit]

Hi there. Can I ask why the "unofficial" support pages for Archos were removed with the comment "Unofficial does not cut it"? Do you work for Archos? Archos has no "official" support forum, so the only place people can find useful information is via the "unofficial" sites. These provide a very useful point of contact for Archos owners. Thanks User talk:Mitchelln 4th November 2008.

No, unemployed. I understand that every Wikipedia article needs an external source for further information about the article's subject... but as you have said it yourself, those unofficial sites are merely "support forums". Remember that Wikipedia is not a mirror or a repository of links, images, or media files. If you like, you can read WP:EL regarding accepted links for Wikipedia articles.
I suggest you find other means of promoting these unofficial sites since Wikipedia is not one of them. --PenaltyKillahJw21 18:15, 4 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wikiproject Electronics collaboration

[edit]

Hi, I am writing to you because you have listed yourself as a member of the Electronics WikiProject. Sadly, this project is pretty dead, but I propose to resuscitate it with a collaboration. The idea is to have a concerted effort on improving one article per month, hopefully to GA or FA status and nominate the very best of them for the front page. I have prepared a page to control this process at Wikipedia:WikiProject Electronics/Collaboration (actually, I mostly shamelessly stole it from Wikipedia:WikiProject Mammals where a collaboration of this sort was succesfully run). There you can make nominations for articles for collaboration or comment on the nominations of others.

If you want to take part you might like to place this template {{WikiProject Electronics Collaboration}} on your userpage which will give you a link to the current collaboration. If you are no longer interested in Wikiproject Electronics, please remove yourself from the members list, which is now at Wikipedia:WikiProject Electronics/Members

Please do not move pages to nonsensical titles. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to learn more about moving pages, please see the guidelines on this subject. If you would like to experiment with page titles and moving, please use the test Wikipedia. Thank you.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:User:Jw21/deUBdomain/quote truth doubtless|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. PenaltyKillahJw21 23:54, 27 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Pairing examples

[edit]

In regards to your additions I was checking out the character pages (I have 8/10 but don't memorize the stats) and I don't see the ages for the characters listed prominently except Squall as 17. If you're confident the other 3 are also 17 would you be able to add that? I am also trying to figure out if there are other examples, so as to address a broader scope of media (be it different genres of anime, or non-Japanese animation, or even non-animation entirely). What would you think about the introduction of Rose Dawson into that paragraph? Tyciol (talk) 07:52, 10 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Done. I would add the Titanic couple... but there is no evidence of Jack Dawson's age... he seems to be older than 17 in one source, though: [2] --PenaltyKillahJw21 16:39, 10 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've started to clean up the Adopters' list. You appear to appear to have been editing only sporadically in the last months. I wonder if you're still interested in adopting new users. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Bertuzzimoorepunchsmall.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Bertuzzimoorepunchsmall.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 14:07, 5 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately no... I got the logo from this site though, why don't you check that out? --PenaltyKillahJw21 06:42, 10 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello - some editors fight off the vandal hordes, as I do repairing pages with citation errors. If I didn't - there would be a large backlog in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting and in Category:Pages with missing references list as in Category:Pages with broken reference names (more than 1500 yesterday). But it is impossible to work it alone. Do you know how to do a "Blitz" (excuse the comparision) to find willing editors to work on it. It is much more easier to repair references if you do it one hour, one day or one week ago after the errors were made instead of months and years after the error was done. Very, very difficult to find these errors.

Only with WikiBlame Search it is possible to find and repair such errors.

Best wishes & thanks --Frze > talk 09:08, 10 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
