Mario Del Monaco

[edit]

Dear Kaja Enäveri, I regret having had to revert twice your edits at the article on Mario Del Monaco. Both times I pointed out the reasons why I was intervening. The second time, in particular, I wrote: "Undid several subsequent good faith edits by Kaja Enäveri as they did not comply with Wikipedia principles (they cited no sources while arbitrarily expunging all those previously mentioned; added non neutral laudatory statements; cut sourced information out; etc.)"

If you want to complain about my behaviour, and you do not know Wikipedia habits, I could suggest either you post your complaints in the WikiProject Opera talk page so that other users can intervene, or you contact administrators.

I am very sorry indeed. --Jeanambr (talk) 15:32, 8 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I have posted a message at the WikiProject Opera talk page referring to the present situation of the article on Mario Del Monaco.--Jeanambr (talk) 08:43, 13 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • I support the above, very sorry to have to undo your changes. Please, add information in encyclopedic tone, without copying from other sites, and only when supported and accompanied by reliable independent sources. I am sure much of what you wrote is valuable, so please add it bit by bit. I have no time to sift myself. "was a spectacular operatic tenor" is not Wikipedia style, sorry, unacceptable. I admire his art very much, so really hope for improvements of his article, but in house style please. Compare Maria Callas, perhaps. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:42, 13 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello. I wanted to let you know that in your recent contributions to Mario Del Monaco, you seemed to act as if you were the owner of the page. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to Wikipedia. This means that editors do not own articles, including ones they create, and should respect the work of their fellow contributors. If you create or edit an article, remember that others are free to change its content. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Information icon Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be repeatedly reverting or undoing other editors' contributions at Mario Del Monaco. Although this may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is known as "edit warring" and is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, as it often creates animosity between editors. Instead of reverting, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.

If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to be blocked from editing Wikipedia. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, and violating the three-revert rule is very likely to lead to a block. Thank you. ST47 (talk) 16:57, 8 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings.

I did not copy text from any other sites.

I am strictly depending on words of the greatest tenor himself and on the historical facts.

May your day be pleasant, Kaja Enäveri Kaja Enäveri (talk) 14:05, 15 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Ecxuse me for thinking the text may have been copied. It is SOOOO different from Wikipedia's style, and shouldn't. Did you take a look at Maria Callas? That is a model to follow. This is an encyclopia, you can not say "is a spectular singer". May day would be more pleasant if you understood that. "words of the greatest tenor himself" is about the opposite of what we try to be: objective and independent. You can use his words when clearly marked as quotations, with a reference of where they come from. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:06, 15 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, reverted once more, "wonderful" is just not acceptable, - what does it take to make you understand? - I suggest you propose you changes on the talk page, and we copy-edit. You also need a reference for everything Wikipedia says. Please! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:04, 20 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
