[edit]Thank you for your work creating the Water polo at the 2024 World Aquatics Championships – Men's tournament page and similar pages :) It is a wonderful world (talk) 06:03, 6 January 2024 (UTC)

Hi, since Greece are in the top 4 of the 2024 Women's European Water Polo Championship and since the over three teams (Italy, the Netherlands and Spain) had already qualified for the 2024 World Aquatics Championships that means Greece qualified for the 2024 World Aquatics Championships yesterday, but does that mean that Greece will be "Europe 1" at the 2024 World Aquatics Championships (since the over three teams had already qualified for the tournament) ? Pindrice (talk) 10:24, 10 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Pindrice: I would think so as they are the highest placed team qualifying from the EC. Kante4 (talk) 12:06, 10 January 2024 (UTC)
- OK, that seems legit, thank you ! Pindrice (talk) 00:32, 11 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Kante4: Hi, I don't understand why you remove France from being Europe 2 here : Greece will be either 3rd or 4th (and Italy already qualified), France will be 5th or 6th (and Hungary already qualified) and Europe 3 the team in 7th (either Great Britain or Croatia, but that's okay we have to wait). But regarding France they will inevitably be Europe 2!
- Pindrice (talk) 20:47, 11 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Pindrice: My bad. Was thinking wrong. Kante4 (talk) 21:27, 11 January 2024 (UTC)
- No problem, I wasn't sure neither, but after checking several times France will be indeed Europe 2. For Europe 3 we have to wait Saturday as you mentionned it (Great Britain or Croatia) Pindrice (talk) 21:30, 11 January 2024 (UTC)

2023–24 DFB-Pokal
[edit]Why did you revert my edit in 2023–24 DFB-Pokal? German language version of this had team divisions in parentheses Cominhson (talk) 02:43, 13 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Cominhson: And the english one has not done it for years and it can be seen above which league they play in, so it's just not needed and overkill. Kante4 (talk) 11:28, 13 January 2024 (UTC)
You asked me "why?"
[edit]because English is the universal language here, I'm the one who should ask that question, why is it in french ?lol Johan5885 (talk) 11:45, 13 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Johan5885: There is no problem with foreign languages as refs as far as i know. You added your ref to the other one which is good. Kante4 (talk) 11:58, 13 January 2024 (UTC)

Reverted again (but i RE-reverted!), sometimes i edit anonymously because i'm too lazy to log in or similar, don't have anything to hide, never have in 17 years done anything more than work my ass off to improve articles (i.e. Mr. Morientes).
When they reverted me (and now i'm nearly 100% this is the same person, two accounts) they left me this "charming" message: "One thing to remember anonymous wikipedia editor you are not a valid user because you are anonymous please stop editing this wikipedia page".

Renārs Uščins
[edit]Hi Kante. Thanks for updating Renārs Uščins. Could you please explain why you removed the player's position and the league his club plays in from the lede? Kind regards, Robby.is.on (talk) 12:54, 28 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Robby.is.on: I always thought that was reduntant and the league can change if they get relegated and then at times it gets outdated. But i can get the position back, what about the legaue? Kante4 (talk) 13:23, 28 January 2024 (UTC)
reduntant
How so? Currently, the player's position is mentioned nowhere outside the infobox.the league can change if they get relegated
Right. I believe that's why in WikiProject Football Template:German football updater was created. For handball, this template doesn't seem to exist so we do have to update the league manually. Robby.is.on (talk) 13:30, 28 January 2024 (UTC)- @Robby.is.on: Can't tell you why i think it is reduntant. :D But i have no problem in putting the league also back in, i just saw a couple of times (before the updater templates) that it got outdated. Hi, I'd like your opinion, is that page really necessary : 2025 World Men's Handball Championship qualification ? It has never been done before for the previous tournaments + some sections if not transcluded (as this one would need to be updated in the original page AND on this new page. I'm skeptical about the usefulness of this new page. Your thoughts ? Pindrice (talk) 16:02, 30 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Pindrice: I agree with that, overkill and does not add much of a value. Either a discussion at the talk oage or Afd? Kante4 (talk) 16:40, 30 January 2024 (UTC)

Made some name changes, just see if you agree.
- Ștefania Stoica instead of Angela Stoica
Based on this page, I think it's Ștefania. If you agree 2 more Wiki pages need to be adjusted.
- Yeah, i was unsure which to use, no problem.
- Patricija-Elizabete Prūse unstead instead of Patricija Prūse
For double first names with a "-", it's common to use both and not just 1.
- Yup, not sure why i did not include both because it has a "-".
- Paulina Pérez instead of Paulina Pérez Buforn
Many Wiki pages link to Paulina Pérez, among which [Spain women's national handball team], no other Wiki pages link to Paulina Pérez Buforn
- ES and NO wiki link to Paulina Buforn, DE wiki to Paulina Pérez Buforn so not sure what to use.

IHF youth awards
[edit]Hello Kante! Do you think the two new youth awards in this years IHF awards should be mentioned on the IHF World Player of the Year article? It's an official award and all, but where should it be placed?
Do we make two new tables and add them in a youth section of the article, or do we add the male youth award under the senior award and the youth female award under the senior female award? Should it be mentioned on the two players articles too? Your work on handball is impressive here. So I want to ask you what you think and if you could possibly add these tables and mentions of the awards, on their respective player articles? Speun (talk) 21:17, 22 March 2024 (UTC)

SpVgg Fürth
[edit]Hello Kante4,
I changed the wrong short version of our club SpVgg Greuther Fürth in the English Wikipedia. We are fans from Fürth and are extremely reluctant to accept or see it when someone talks about "Greuther Fürth". Unfortunately, only active football fans understand this. The club is currently being renamed back to SpVgg Fürth. The club is currently legally called "SpVgg Greuther Fürth".
An abbreviation is simply wrong and does not reflect the club that comes from Fürth. And became German champions for the first time 110 years ago today.
TSV Vestenbergsgreuth has its own team in amateur football in Erlangen Pegnitzgrund.
You don't understand how disappointed we are when someone talks about "Greuther". You probably don't care.
But this change will be superfluous in a few years, because "Greuther" will be superfluous by decision of its members. Unfortunately for us as an active fan scene, we cannot understand why SpVgg is not added.
Best regards
From Fürth SpVggFuerth (talk) 11:00, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
- @SpVggFuerth: You can start a discussion at the Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football talk page and get more opinions on that. But if you look at 2023–24 2. Bundesliga and the prev. seasons, it's always shortened and if you want a change you need consensus. Kante4 (talk) 11:03, 29 March 2024 (UTC)

USA qualified for 2025 WC?
[edit]Hello, I'm not sure that the talk page of the WikiProject Handball is very active so I'm asking you directly.
Since some discussion in 2018, it is said that USA will get a wild card for 2025 and 2027 World Championships (see section for details). Nowadays, since then, I wasn't been able to find any confirmation about this and, I'm now surprised to see that USA is NOT qualified according to IHF itself!
We all know IHF is not reliable, but now, I really don't know if USA qualified or not for 2025 WC? Any clue about it? Thanks! LeFnake (talk) 15:49, 13 May 2024 (UTC)
- @LeFnake: Huh, that's news to me. Maybe they did not write them down as their tournament was still to be played but nothing here aswell. Handball-world says it is confirmed and that's from January and this from January 2023. This from today confirms they have it as the swiss team still hopes and they say USA have one for 2025/2027. Kante4 (talk) 15:58, 13 May 2024 (UTC)
- I also cand find some papers here and there saying USA is qualified, but how can we be sure they don't just got the information on Wikipedia? BTW, here, IHF talks about 2024 NACHC Championship as a qualifier for 2025 WC but the USA is only seen as one of the participants. Nowadays, NACHC Championship was played 6-12 May, but on 11 May, USA played against France in France (unfortunately I did not followed the match at all): if they weren't qualified already, they would not give up their chance for a friendly match? That's crazy... LeFnake (talk) 16:26, 13 May 2024 (UTC)
- @LeFnake: I don't think the swiss federation would talk about that without knowing anything confirmed. So, USA played France during the tournament? Yeah, that seems like they used the tournament for other players since they are already qualified. Kante4 (talk) 16:29, 13 May 2024 (UTC)
- swiss federation asks for a wild card but the section about USA qualification is given by the journalist only I think. BTW, when USA managed to qualify for 2023 WC, IHF also did not talked at all about any 2025 qualification... LeFnake (talk) 16:39, 13 May 2024 (UTC)
- @LeFnake: I read it differently, that they have the WC. That explains playing a friendly during the NACHC. We never heard or read about them not getting it. Kante4 (talk) 16:48, 13 May 2024 (UTC)
- US coach (Hedin) and captain (Hueter) were in France but not in NACHC Championship. So IMHO it confirms USA is qualified, but it's crazy IHF does not talk about it... LeFnake (talk) 17:06, 13 May 2024 (UTC)
- @LeFnake: I agree and look, just a nine goal loss. Kante4 (talk) 17:09, 13 May 2024 (UTC)
- @LeFnake: I'm pretty sure they receive I wildcard. Because I heard nothing that they not receiving a wildcard. And the USA talked that they send the B team to the NORCA because they were already qualified. 🤾♂️ Malo95 (talk) 17:50, 15 May 2024 (UTC)

They disagree on the number of spectators. Which number to use? Probably most appropriate would be to use report from the IOC site but that would imply changing in all {{handballbox}} templates the |report=

- They should never differ. Getting the feeling the IHF only retrieves a copy once. If the IOC updates a PDF and the IHF doesn't retrieve it again, they miss out. It would also explain why the number of spectators is missing in 2 cases on the IHF site but not on the IOC site. The Olympics site dying isn't a real problem since all PDF's can be archived. --Sb008 (talk) 19:54, 1 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Sb008: Yeah their stats part is also blank so it is better to link to olympics then. Kante4 (talk) 20:20, 1 August 2024 (UTC)

In all PDF's the number of spectators should now be mentioned. Today there were even more games with a different number of spectators in the IOC and IHF files. It's because the IHF is "behind". E.g. DEN v NOR, IOC is version 4.0, IHF is version 3.0. I changed all report parameters to the link on the IOC site. You can see the version on the bottom left footer of a page in the PDF. Made some additional small changes. As source for the ranking tables I use the IOC Summary PDF. The web page with the ranking tables might become inaccessible even on the archive site, because it's a dynamic and not a static page. Doubt all the needed scripts on the page will be archived too. The order (time) of the quarter and semi finales might change. Also the URL's of the KO matches might be incorrect. Based on the past I attempted to guess what they will be. The result you see on my Sandbox page. If you agree, I'll implement it on the actual page, The mens page then is next. --Sb008 (talk) 19:49, 3 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Sb008: I'm fine with changing it to the olympics website. For the times, they should be left blank until announced ater the last game. After that the reports can be added aswell i would say. After that we can also add the total attendance to the infobox. Thanks for your work and help. Kante4 (talk) 19:55, 3 August 2024 (UTC)
- The schedule of who plays who is defined in the regulations. What is not defined in the regulations is in which order (at what time) QF1 to QF4, and SF1 and SF2 will be played. So, in the bracket section it is correct to fill the names QF1, .., QF4, SF1 and SF4 (regulations defined). On the other hand in the Semifinals (and initially the quarterfinals) section we cannot fill any names since we don't know the order. But, we can fill the times. --Sb008 (talk) 18:28, 4 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Sb008: But for sure editors will add the teams that's why i would add the teams but not the times as they would be incorrect until announced. Would be easier i guess. In the bracket those additions seem unnecessary for me as the tournament tree shows who plays who. 18:38, 4 August 2024 (UTC)Kante4 (talk)
- You can't add the names cause you don't know if WQ1 v WQ3 or WQF2 v WQF4 should be in the first listed box or in the second. --Sb008 (talk) 18:57, 4 August 2024 (UTC)

Olympic basketball formatting
[edit]Hi, I noticed you reverted my edits adding tooltips for the "three players" texts on Basketball at the 2024 Summer Olympics – Men's tournament due to it not being done in the past. Do you think it's reasonable to change the tradition and include this detail to provide full depth and clarity in the information provided or just let the user find it on the boxscore themselves? Let me know your thoughts. Thanks for your diligent work on the various Olympic Sports pages. Rafaelmanman (talk) 03:01, 10 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Rafaelmanman: Hey, thanks for the kind words: ;) Since years, when there are more than two people with the same total, we do the three/four/five players in a couple of sports, (Handball, water polo) and was never done by editors. For me it is overkill to add the players. But i am not the one who decides it all so a wider discussion at the basketball or sports project is what you are looking for. Kante4 (talk) 07:12, 10 August 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for the quick reply and for explaining the rationale. I think we can leave it as is for now. Perhaps see you around editing more Olympics pages. Have a good rest of your day or night. Rafaelmanman (talk) 15:32, 10 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Rafaelmanman: Thanks and the same for you too. ;) Kante4 (talk) 15:33, 10 August 2024 (UTC)

Military Games
[edit]Hello, I noticed you’ve recently edited the USA Basketball article, which is why I’d like to request your help dealing with the case of the "Military Games" which are constantly added to the team's history section. [1] I believe they should be excluded, as the United States was obviously represented not by a senior national team 178.71.73.76 (talk) 14:51, 15 August 2024 (UTC)
- @178.71.73.76: I have no idea about the military games and best would be to open a discussion at the talk page of the US team or contact the editor who added it. I have no hand in this. Kante4 (talk) 15:20, 15 August 2024 (UTC)

The article Yim Jung-hyun has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
doesn't pass WP:NSPORT

Hi,
Not a good spot for the references: diff
At the end of the tournament the {{updated}}'s will be gone and the references will remain not attached to anything. --Sb008 (talk) 16:04, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Sb008: True, just used it for the tournament as long as it is running but can be changed. Kante4 (talk) 16:11, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
- Are we going to keep using Turkey or switch to Turkiye? --Sb008 (talk) 03:54, 4 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Sb008: At the ice hockey competitions we use Czechia as the IIHF uses it. The EHF uses Turkiye, so would make sense to use it aswell. I always favor to follow the country name on wiki but i do not decide it. Kante4 (talk) 16:52, 4 December 2024 (UTC)
- I changed it. If someone objects, they can start a duscussion.

- Mayve we should have a duscussion anyway about whether the pages for Turkey, all team pages like Turkey women's national handball team, all templates like {{hb}}, {{fb}} etc, and what so more should have a title change with "Turkey" changed into "Türkiye" as well. The advantage would be that we don't need to add
|name=Türkiye
to the templates any more. The disadvantage would be that we have to add|name=Turkey
to the templares on "old" pages. --Sb008 (talk) 19:04, 4 December 2024 (UTC)- @Sb008: With that i personally would wait until the main article is moved (if it is). But a discussion can never hurt. Kante4 (talk) 19:06, 4 December 2024 (UTC)
- I wasn't planning to change the page titles without a discussion. It could have big impact. --Sb008 (talk) 19:12, 4 December 2024 (UTC)

@Sb008: You somehow deleted my referee addidtions (here), think it's the second time this tournament, guess/hope by mistake? ;) Kante4 (talk) 18:19, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
- Mostly I generate the full page using the JSON data and just "replace" the page in full. The JSON data can be "behind" on the data available on one of the web pages. Mostly I notice this difference and adjust my generated data, but clearly not always. So, I didn't remove them intentionally. My apologies and I'll try to be more carefull in the future. --Sb008 (talk) 10:43, 15 December 2024 (UTC)

Brahim Diaz
[edit]On the Brahim Diaz edit I had edited the page of international goals to include individual references to each goal, making it a more accurate piece, as well as editing the multi-country nature of the statistics in line with the List of international goals scored by Alfredo Di Stéfano, which is a Wikipedia featured list. Just wanted to confirm why you reversed the edit. Eog23 (talk) 12:05, 5 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Eog23: For me it was no improvement (other than the refs). Since it is used at the Di Stéfano article, well i am not sure what is better, tbh. Kante4 (talk) 14:22, 5 December 2024 (UTC)
