WikiProject Hungarian culture
[edit]I should have mentioned this earlier, and my apologies for having failed to do so. However, would you have any interest in setting up, or helping to set up, a larger WikiProject dealing with the country of Hungary in a more general capacity? The locations, history, people, culture, etc. I note that Hungary currently really doesn't have a culture dealing directly with all such matters. Badbilltucker 20:24, 2 January 2007 (UTC)
- I have thought of creating such a broad WikiProject. Finally I decided to start a smaller WikiProject, because I wouldn't be able to manage such a big project. Actually I'm even thinking of dividing the Hungarian culture WikiProject into more separate departments, as I don't really know very much about music and theater, I'm mainly interested in literature. However, if we could organize a more general WikiProject, the project's name and scope may be changed if technically possible. Lelkesa 20:42, 2 January 2007 (UTC)
- Also, most of what you listed could be incorporated into WikiProject Hungarian culture. We only need to interpret culture more broadly. Lelkesa 20:46, 2 January 2007 (UTC)
- Believe me, I full well understand the reservations you expressed above. I'm just thinking that right now the articles about Hungary which do not have any specific projects dealing with them are basically unattended. If you would have any interest in broadening the scope of the project, I'd do what I could to help. Considering I'm trying to tag all the religion articles right now, that might not be as much as I would like, but I could hope to do more later. Badbilltucker 21:48, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
- Well, at first I'd like to start this smaller WikiProject. Altough officially started, nobody seems to be working either on the project page or one of the articles within the scope of the project. Lelkesa 08:27, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
Re:ADY
[edit]I've changed it now. I am mass cleaning three letter disambigs, so somewhere along the line, I'm bound to not get it 100% right. Thanks for pointing that out. enochlau (talk) 13:30, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Reverting Vandalism
[edit]When reverting vandalism, please put user warning templates, such as those found at WP:WARN, on the talk pages. An issue came up with the frequent vandalism of the page Big Bird by the IP address 67.76.231.222. To get a user blocked, they have to receive a series of warnings(usually 2-4 within a given period of time) and then after vandalizing past the final warning, they can be blocked without further notice. I recently tagged the with the final warning, but in the past few days, they had vandalized the page 6 times, and could have been blocked sooner. Please tag them, so that they may be blocked sooner, and Thanks for contributing to Wikipedia!--Vox Rationis 14:11, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
Welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome your help to create new content, but your recent additions (such as The Number 4) are considered nonsense. Please refrain from creating nonsense articles. If you want to test things out, edit the sandbox instead. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. Lelkesa 16:58, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
Lelkesa: I appreciate your effecency....However, I was the one who placed the deletion tag on the artical....not the author of the artical. :-) Have a great Day. Shoessss 17:01, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
Track7
[edit]Hello! I'm in works on making the wikipedia entries of Track7, Track7 Games and Track7 music. This company is about to release an adventure game on Xbox360 and PC and judging by various website reviews such as IGN's it seems logical that iI should write about it. The facts that it is a Greek Company shouldnt make no difference to this encyclopedia... It it was about Virgin or Sony I'm sure I wouldnt have ANY problems... But since this is a new development company about to get really well known, i support my stand on havng these articles :P Please check them some days later when I'll have the entries ready and sparkling! (By the way, I am in NO way affiliated to Track7, I'm just a wiki enthusiast :D) Zisimos 17:06, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
Nim's Island
[edit]Hi. There is currently not that much information on this film, and so I have posted a link to a site which I help to run, which will be posting news as and when it comes in, and as soon as there is any news worthy of being put on the page, like plot details, I will put them on it. The page is for a film, which is being produced in 2008, and I don't think it should be deleted because the info will be added when it becomes available.

Himnusz
[edit]Sorry for my absence; I have been trying to research the issue. I am not entirely certain that the copyrights are exactly as you say; edits and information added to wikipedia are indeed open licensed, but quotes and the like are not quite the same. To this end, I'd like to incorporate changes on my site first [2], to ensure that there are no problems. My findings:
- "feléje" does indeed mean "over," not my "toward"
- "szánd meg" does indeed mean "pity," not my "redeem"
- "Kunság" does indeed mean "Cumania". HOWEVER, the full line is "Kunság mezein", which should translate most accurately to "the plains of the Kuns", "Kun" being the ethnicity in Hungarian.
- "hő" does not mean "cold". It can either be "faithful" or "hot", as in, the orphans' eyes are hot from tears. I believe the latter is the better.
Sorry for the inexcusable delay. If you can give me another day or two to fix up my site, then we can reprint verbatim again and avoid misquotation problems. I don't think it's a good idea to change just the site itself. What do you think? Korossyl 19:30, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
Okay, so I've changed feléje, szánd meg, and hő (to "burning eyes" -- in English, one's eyes can burn from tears, but to be "hot" from crying isn't clear).
I'm still not totally convinced about Kunság/Cumania. You said:
- "Kunság" clearly refers to the place, not the nomadic tribe (Cumans). ("The plains of the Kuns" would be "a kunok mezein" in Hungarian).
I think Kunság could still be the tribe, because the -ság suffix can denote ethnicity: "Magyarság" would be indentical with "magyarok" or "a magyar nép", no?
I thought a lot about "hajh", but there's no word which quite expresses the same thing in English. I figured that it's pretty clear, nonetheless; it sounds like a sigh in any language. I'd welcome any ideas; I'm not too happy about it either.
And the Duna... I suppose it could be the Danube... I just figured, again, that it would be readily understandable. You think we should change it?
Thanks for your comments! Korossyl 01:53, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
I have changed the text as I indicated above, plus "Duna" to "Danube." I'm sorry, I'm just still not convinced about Kunság. Korossyl 05:20, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
