Arbitrary numbers

[edit]

Your fondness of mathmatically interesting numbers is interesting! However I suggest they may be better places to exercise it. I reverted your edit of watch. While your edit might not be noticeable at the moment (as you noted) this makes an assumption that Wikipedia's formatting will remain as it currently is. If wikipedia for example decided to change the default width of sidebox images yours would now arbitrarily be different from the norm and require an edit to fit in. Other clients that are using wikipedia's data may handle the suggested image width in an explicit manner where they could otherwise do a better job of rendering the image based on local parameters like screen size. In short generic is best until you need a specific behaviour. - Bostwickenator (talk) 03:23, 13 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

July 2012

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, but when you add or change content, as you did to the article 0 (number), please cite a reliable source for your addition. This helps maintain our policy of verifiability. See Wikipedia:Citing sources for how to cite sources, and the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. - DVdm (talk) 16:20, 19 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Line breaks

[edit]

Please do not put
in articles. That makes edting awkward. New lines can be forced by leaving an extra empty line in the text. Thanks. I have undone a few of your recents edit. - DVdm (talk) 16:30, 19 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Taking a small wiki-holiday

[edit]

Hallo there,

"thanks" for reverting some of my recent changes.
I would like to remind you that there are talk pages also on the articles where you have been so kind in reverting my recent edits... so, unless you can see the "Truth" with the capital "T" (which I obviously don't), you are kindly requested in the future to use those talk pages too so that other editors can get involved in commenting our (yours and mine) changes.

For example I don't understand why:
1) you took away the hyperlink from "David Hilbert" and
2) the indenting ("::") and
3) the
s from the mathematics article.
The fact that they look "awkward" too you looks like POV to me... and anyway I have worked for more than three years for a publishing company taking care of page graphics and noone has ever complained... actually I was making a living out of it.

If you think that "z=0 means that we are taking of present time" requires a reliable source you are more than welcome to revert than edit and, as I said, to post a RFC in the talk page.
I am not surprised that your page has been vandalized "64.65" times (whatever that means) but I also found "awkward" that you seem like you are kind of proud of it and that one of your three userboxes states that. Adding [citation needed] templates would be a form or editing (or "edting" like you call it) that could save from upsetting and discouraging editors because they are more "soft" than "undoing changes".
But I am not going to vandalize your user page filled with a "trivial refutation" for that reason.
But as I said I am taking some time to reflect on your behaviour.

Have a nice and relaxing weekend.

P.S.: Writing "edting" without an "i" instead of "editing" looks awkward too. But maybe that is POV.

Hi there, I'll answer to your points separately:
1) The hyperlink from "David Hilbert": Hilbert was already wikilinked (not hyperlinked) in the article lead. This is sufficient - see wp:REPEATLINK.
2) The indenting ("::"): I found the suddenly interrupted flow of the article with a non-bulleted indented list slightly disturbing.
3) The
s: This came with the indenting.
See wp:BRD: you made a Bold edit that I Reverted, and if you feel that my revert was a bad call, you can go to the talk page and Discuss. (Struck, as that's what you did indeed. Sorry, I hadn't noticed your comment on the talk page.)
Sorry for the typo in "edting". I always preview and proof-read my edits, but this one seems to have slipped through. Have a nice wiki-holiday. Cheers - DVdm (talk) 10:39, 20 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
