Suburbs[edit]

On a positive note, yes! Feel free! I've just borrowed The Paddocks Beneath (a history book of burnside and its suburbs) from the library and am doing some heavy reading to start on the road to writing their history sections! If you find it easy enough, I'd borrow the same book (its great, and theyve got a bunch of copies). References can be found on the ABS, electoral results, national library of australia (for photos, all before 1955 are copyright-free). Check out Waterfall Gully for ideas and a layout.

Good luck! - Gt 11:10, 24 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:Magilluni.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Magilluni.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. You can get help on image copyright tagging from Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags. -- Carnildo 12:16, 1 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Misanthropic?[edit]

Hello there, do you deem yourself misanthropic or something? Just curious. Le Anh-Huy 08:11, 8 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I know that I certainly do so I can associate with this person. Enigmatical 22:40, 19 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well, it's not as if I just thought it was a pretty-looking word. :-P misanthrope

Bressington[edit]

A sincere thank you for removing that silly sentence. Feel like removing it from all the other MP articles? michael talk 08:21, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

With pleasure. misanthrope

Sorry to see the reference go. She is anti-euthanasia, and voted for the suppression from Hansard of a euthanasia-related speech. Isn't that relevant? That motion was the first of its kind in Australian politics. Isn't that of note? Or do you people want articles about trains to be longer than those of our politicians? (Mind you, trains probably have more character than some of the local politicians we have). Leo 14:55, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

...Um, trains? I don't see the relevence. Must we include every vote that every State politician casts during their time in Parliament, now? What a waste of space (and time)! misanthrope
I didn't realise every vote that pollies make in parliament sets a precedent of hansard suppression. Oh that's right, they don't! (i'm not adding them nor removing them, I just think you need to see it for what it is) Timeshift 06:48, 4 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Mention of the precedent should obviously only be made in articles about the politicians directly involved, not every single MP who voted for or against. misanthrope

It is, IMO, at least as important on Bressington's page as her policies on the drinking age, drug-testing and antihomosexuality etc.

So are you going to include every vote she casts in Parliament, now? misanthrope

Of course not. Nobody cares how she votes on Pork Belly Futures. This was an unprecedented vote to suppress Hansard and she was in the thick of it. Sure, most of the Libs don't need to be tagged with the vote, and probably not all of the Labor, but anti-euthanasia is her stated policy and she showed how far she was willing to run with it. Leo 14:40, 4 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Except that it wasn't even so much as a euthanasia issue (despite what Kanck claimed) as suicide in general. misanthrope

That's just an opinion. The fact is she voted against publication on the net and you oppose the mention of it on her wiki page based on your opinion. I'm just happy we've exposed a few more SA theocrats. Leo 13:36, 9 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The law she was "protesting" against was once which prohibits the online publication of suicide instructions and such. Not specifically euthanasia, but suicide in general. Also, I don't think Bressington's a theocrat so much as a lunatic. ;-) misanthrope

I wasn't talking about Bressington. HTH. Leo 10:50, 20 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nor was I. misanthrope

myocardial infarction[edit]

just thought i should say that the fact everyone's heart stops when they die is not the same in any way as "just about everyone" suffering a heart attack before they die. that's a specific diagnosis. not the same thing. ta -- W guice 09:59, 4 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Kindly don't patronise me. I'm well aware of that. However, my point is that it is in fact this diagnosis which ultimately kills most people, not the stingray barb/shooting/poisoning/whatever that technically caused it. misanthrope
actually it's precisely the reverse: the medical profession, coroner's offices, etc. regard this as a secondary side effect of the primary (technical) cause. -- W guice 15:02, 4 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Exactly - shouldn't we have the primary cause cited? misanthrope
We do. We also mention significant complications of primary causes where they contribute to the death. Still not the same as everyone's heart stopping when they die -- W guice 11:25, 9 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I realise that, but I was talking about the fact almost everyone goes into cardiac arrest before they die, not just that it "stops". Obviously, it's going to stop. misanthrope

Abbie Cornish[edit]

I know you're a big fan and all, but quit deleting information just because you don't happen to like it. This isn't the first time you've been reprimanded for something like this. I'm sure you don't want to get blocked again.

Jinxy

Sure - "reprimanded" by an anonymous user who accused me of having a "personal agenda" and "whitewashing" material which was against Wiki policy regarding OR and verifibility, to the extent that it came perilously close to libel. Much like in this case. Woe is me, conforming to all those mean Wikipedia rules! misanthrope 16:00, 17 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Mister Jinxy[edit]

At this point, I think it would be best to move on. Blocks are not punitive, only preventative, so it would be inappropriate for me to institute one after-the-fact. Furthermore, his indignation aside, he has recieved the warnings; any additional ones are likely only to inflame things. If it helps, he is certainly in the wrong. I will keep an eye on his contributions to see if he is persistently incivil, and if so, will step in. If you have any further issues with Jinxy, or other users, please let me know. Thanks, --cj | talk 08:10, 18 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed that your user name is on the front of this jumper. Is this a common thing in schools to have a nick name or something of the sort on the front? I'm an American, so I'm unfamiliar with the concept of a year 12 jumper. We had senior t-shirts when I was in school but they didn't have our name on them. Orphaned non-free image (Image:Emilysuburbanmayhem.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Emilysuburbanmayhem.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 19:30, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use Image:Angussampson01.jpg[edit]

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Angussampson01.jpg. I noticed the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Longhair\talk 21:55, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Underradar01.gif[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Underradar01.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:48shadesscene.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:48shadesscene.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 05:10, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Youandyourstupidmate01.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Youandyourstupidmate01.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rockfang (talk) 20:32, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Caterpillarwishscene.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Caterpillarwishscene.jpg. Image copyright problem with Image:Caterpillarwishposter.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Caterpillarwishposter.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

The following images also have this problem:

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Uniseniorcollegelogo2.gif)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Uniseniorcollegelogo2.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 10:07, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Clementine Mellor[edit]

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Clementine Mellor. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Clementine Mellor. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:13, 31 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Victoria Hill requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here.
