Re: St. Cecilia Society Page

[edit]

The St. Cecilia Society article was deleted on the 20th of May because it satisfied deletion criteria WP:CSD#A7 and WP:CSD#G11. If you or your friend can explain why this is a notable organization or provide several references to it from reliable sources, I'll gladly undelete the article. ˉˉanetode╦╩ 17:55, 15 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This article has been copied at least in part from here]. Do you have permission to use the text? This page has info on how to let Wikipedia know that permission has been granted. If you do nothing, then the article is likely to be marked as a copyright violation. If you intend to show that you have permission, put a not on the article talk page for the meantime. Cheers Kevin 04:27, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not post copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder, as you did to Northern Maine Community College. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites (http://www.nmcc.edu/more_about_nmcc.php in this case) or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:

  • If you have permission from the author leave a message explaining the details on the article Talk page and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
  • If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:Northern Maine Community College with a link to where we can find that note;
  • If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on the article Talk page. Alternatively, you may create a note on your web page releasing the work under the GFDL and then leave a note at Talk:Northern Maine Community College with a link to the details.

Otherwise, you are encouraged to rewrite this article in your own words to avoid any copyright infringement. After you do so, you should place a {{hangon}} tag on the article page and leave a note at Talk:Northern Maine Community College saying you have done so. An administrator will review the new content before taking action.

It is also important that all Wikipedia articles have an encyclopedic tone and follow Wikipedia article layout. For more information on Wikipedia's policies, see Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If you want to edit constructively, take a look at the welcome page. Thank you. Адам12901 T/C 01:35, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image source problem with Image:Bien Nacido Vineyards Logo.gif

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:Bien Nacido Vineyards Logo.gif. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 17:12, 12 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If you believe you received this message in error, please notify the bot's owner. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Unity College Logo.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Unity College Logo.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 20:14, 23 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

California Southern Law School

[edit]

You added the Unaccredited California Law Schools template to California Southern University. The article has a hatnote saying "Not to be confused with the University of Southern California or California Southern Law School (Riverside, California)." The template, however, makes it appear that the law school may be part of the university. If you know something about the relationship between California Southern University (in Santa Ana) and the California Southern Law School, could you help with the university article? --Orlady (talk) 15:05, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for disambiguating the template, and for the link to http://www.calbar.ca.gov/state/calbar/calbar_generic.jsp?cid=10115&id=5128#uls . The one thing that is clear to me about the situation is that it is confusing! --Orlady (talk) 17:21, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

University of San Francisco

[edit]

Please refer to the Wikipedia page of Georgetown University or Boston College for reference on how to write about a private university. Your description is unnecessary and therefore warrants deletion. There is more to a university than flaunting the religious history of that university. Please stop abusing the Wikipedia website to spread your religious views. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Usfcastudent (talkcontribs) 18:32, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mitamarine, I've reverted and put some more discussion of this on the talk page. Usfcastudent - both the Georgetown and BC pages mention fairly prominently early on, and in the infobox, that they are Jesuit institutions (Georgetown in the first sentence), so I have no idea what you are talking about. john k (talk) 20:14, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Usfcastudent, btw, appears to have registered an account for Wikipedia solely in order to prevent mentioning that USF is a Jesuit school in the introduction. This is most tiresome. john k (talk) 20:17, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:SB College of Law.gif. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Fight For Santa Clara, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.letthemplay.com/songs.htm. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. Orphaned non-free image (File:BrandmanUniversity.gif)

Thanks for uploading File:BrandmanUniversity.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
