Wigan station

[edit]
First Wigan station. As you have done a lot of work on, among others, the Wigan Branch Railway, including content from original Acts (where do you get access to those?) I wondered if you hae definite intormation about the location of the first Wigan station? Some books say "on the east side of Wallgate" but the Wiki article says Chapel Lane. Imho Chapel Lane is right, but I wonder if you can point to a reliable source for that? Afterbrunel (talk) 14:06, 27 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I've got more on the WBR and it's stations, as well as the NUR in preparation. Just follow the links in the citations to get to the original acts. Sweeney Sweeney, Dennis (2008). The Wigan Branch Railway. Triangle Publishing. ISBN 978-0-9550030-35. {{cite book}}: Invalid |ref=harv (help) would be first source for Chapel Lane although I'm sure I have seen it somewhere else.Nempnet (talk) 17:25, 27 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Quick also mentions it as being at Chapel Lane when it first opened, that's good enough for me.Nempnet (talk) 19:33, 27 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If you are going to do some work on the WBR and the NUR that's good news. Thet certainly need some work; when are yopu planning to do that? Afterbrunel (talk) 05:51, 30 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Camping coach details

[edit]

Hi Nempnet, out of interest what does camping coach details mean? Regards Devokewater (talk) 16:15, 10 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Devokewater:, it means I have added some details about a camping coach or coaches that were situated at the station at some time, the link to camping coaches should explain what they are Nempnet (talk) 17:47, 10 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Nempnet: brilliant, thanks you learn something everyday. Regards Devokewater (talk) 18:30, 10 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Felixstowe Town Camping Coachs

[edit]

Hi Nempnet I was interested in your entry on this subject.

I know there were some camping coaches at Felixstowe Pier station (now long gone under the docks) but not at the old Town station.

As far as I know these were last seen (before scrapping) at Ipswich Ranelagh Road sidings. regards

Template : Manchester, Buxton, Matlock and Midland Junction Railway

[edit]

Someone has just added Higher Buxton to this template between Peak Forest and Millers Dale stations, suggesting direct links to both those two stations. Is it not the case that Higher Buxton was a station on the Ashbourne line?

Xenophon Philosopher (talk) 00:00, 25 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The same person mentioned above has now deleted that item from the line template.

Moved Gazette citation to footnote to fix citation anchor

[edit]

G'day, you persist in making this edit on articles on my watchlist, despite the fact that I have already reverted your edits several times. You state in the edit summary "Moved Gazette citation to footnote to fix citation anchor", however, there is nothing wrong with the citation anchor (if you click on the footnote number in the text, it takes you to the shortened footnote in the Footnotes section, and if you click on that it takes you to the long citation. Can you please explain here why you think this edit is necessary, or stop doing it? Thanks, Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 20:40, 4 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Peacemaker67:, Hi, firstly let me apologise for not noticing that I have repeatedly edited articles you have reverted, I'll pay more attention to any article history before making edits. I'm probably phrasing the summary wrongly. I agree that what you describe is accurate and that means the "anchor" and "target" works, but I have been working towards correcting articles that appear in Category:Harv and Sfn no-target errors and your reverts have re-appeared in that category, for example both Bill Kibby and Arthur Sullivan (Australian soldier) are there again. It is quite possible that the wrapper-template is creating a false-positive error. I will desist and try to find an alternative way to fix the sfn error notification.Nempnet (talk) 07:15, 5 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
No worries. No doubt some errant bit of code. Let me know what you find out? Thanks for your wikignoming work. Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 08:37, 5 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I was about to ask about the same topic, you fixed several of these this evening on Falklands War. I thought I'd formatted the references correctly and they appeared to work, so I'm left wondering what I was doing wrong for the future? WCMemail 21:33, 8 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Wee Curry Monster:, Hi, I've fixed other things at Falklands War, the above conversation was about London Gazette citations which definitely has a software problem. I'm still trying to fix errors appearing in Category:Harv and Sfn no-target errors and the ones I fixed at Falklands War were showing in that category. The Bennett citation was only showing one author, it had a ref field but was still showing an error, the field could have been fixed by amending the ref field to CITEREFLast_name_of_author(s)Year (see Anchor in Template:Cite book) or as I did by removing the ref field and adding the author name to the footnote, the error no longer shows and the footnote indicates there were two authors. The same applies to the other footnotes but without the second author element. Hope that explains it.Nempnet (talk) 12:19, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Stations with no exit

[edit]

Hello, I feel the close at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Stations with no exit was a bit dismissive of the source you added. Viewing-only stations and exchange-only stations are by definition stations without an entrance or exit. Do you have any more sources on these? I'm tempted to launch a deletion review. NemesisAT (talk) 18:43, 1 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@NemesisAT:, Hi, no I don't at present. I've a few notes about these sorts of stations and had intended to work up an article at some time, but I haven't got there yet.Nempnet (talk) 20:06, 1 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Italian Civil War

[edit]

Hi, I need your help: after my additions to the article Italian Civil War, error messages appeared in the notes, but I can't understand why. Hi, LukeWiller (talk) 19:00, 12 February 2022 (UTC).[reply]

I wanted to let you know that in the meantime the problem has been fixed by another user. Thanks all the same for your attention. Hi, --LukeWiller (talk) 20:02, 12 February 2022 (UTC).[reply]

History of British monarchy

[edit]

Thanks for catching that there was no full reference for the Powell and Maddicott citations. I forgot to put those. Ltwin (talk) 14:21, 22 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Railway citations

[edit]

Thanks for your work adding citations to articles. You should note however that railscot.co.uk is not a reliable source. It has been discussed and found to be mostly WP:UGC / WP:SPS unreliable content. Please find an alternative source from now on. Thanks again. 10mmsocket (talk) 20:37, 10 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Joseph Lister

[edit]

Hi @Nempnet: How goes it? Thanks for updating those reference on Joseph Lister. They are obviously gubbed somehow although I don't how they are gubbed or non-standard. But I reverted anyway, as I'm using short ref form. I plan to put other references on those that are more fitting, for example Godlee. I hope that is a better ref. scope_creepTalk 20:49, 30 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Whitelist

[edit]

{{sfn whitelist|CITEREFGazette38377}} Thanks for doing this on the Pedestal page, I've been trying to find a way for ages. Keith-264 (talk) 14:47, 13 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

PS I had a go here Italian invasion of Egypt but it hasn't worked, would you mind having a look? Thanks Keith-264 (talk) 14:53, 13 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I've "standardised" it, my understanding is that authors are not normally mentioned in Gazette citations. The sfn form for Gazette footnotes is 'non-standard' and rather odd, I've made it as normal as I think it should be. Nempnet (talk) 15:46, 13 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I can copy that in other stuff. Regards Keith-264 (talk) 16:20, 13 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
